I am by nature a nutcase. Being autistic means that my sense of humour is never far from the surface, so beware. By way of introduction, I am a retired teacher who received a degree in teaching from university and an anointing from God for teaching. I haven't retired from that one. I have some other degrees in theology, politics and social science. My wife is a teacher as well and we have been married for 50 years.

We have two children and 12 grandchildren. Ten girls and two boys.

I spent the first 40 years of my life living in the UK and was around for the charismatic renewal and was in a church for 10 years that was at the centre of it and birthed many churches throughout the country. Then my wife who is Australian decided she wanted to come back home so to stay married to her I decided to come as well. That was 40 years ago. So I have done half and half. That means I am half English and half Australian.

Here in Australia, I have been head of two parachurch ministries and an Elder of a home fellowship. I tend to be a bit out there and have been used by God to bring miracle healings to people.

One final note. Autistic people do not usually criticise. They usually speak as they find. To give you an example a friend of mine has an autistic boy and one day when they were at the shopping centre, the boy said to his parents "That woman over there is fat." For him, that was a statement of fact. He was not judging her in any way. That is the way I usually operate. If you know that you will not get upset about what I say.

First: Howdy, and welcome to the forum.

Singles forum has evolved into the default "chill" forum for people to hang out and chat about stuff, whether you are married or single. There are a lot of single-centric topics, and you probably don't want to start a thread specifically about married life (there's another subforum for that) but don't let the "Singles" heading keep you out of it. Pop by and hang out with the rest of us wingnuts some time.

Miscellaneous forum is about like Singles forum, but with not so many singles-centric threads. Another place to chill.

Bible Discussion Forum should be a great place to discuss Bible related topics, but it has devolved into a place for people to yell at each other over disagreements. You have been warned. Proceed in that forum at your own risk.

One final note. Autistic people do not usually criticise. They usually speak as they find. To give you an example a friend of mine has an autistic boy and one day when they were at the shopping centre, the boy said to his parents "That woman over there is fat." This line has been used many times, by many people who take pride in speaking freely, or people who are used to offending others. A friend of mine once said this on the topic:
"If he knows what hes about to say is offensive....then he knows not to say it. Sounds like hes using (his condition) as an excuse to insult people."

Looks like you were here before and gone for a while, so welcome back.

Take comfort, you're not the only autistic user on this site ;) I know of a few others,
and I myself am mama bear to a couple of autistic cubs ( who fall on completely different parts of the spectrum).
Makes life interesting, (and fun).

Hope to see you around more in the forums.

Welcome.
It's not uncommon for people with Autism to join the site and we actually currently have a few other members who are autistic.
But most people will not know that about you as few will read your post here. So expect people to get upset.

And most of his posts are from 7 years ago...
Many people are members for years and not active for much of that time. It's a greeting.

Except what they say is not intended to be offensive, just a statement of fact. The part of the brain that sets out to be offensive does not work.

Did you do all these because if you did, you are amazingly talented?
Thank you for your kind words :) I do design the panels, but the elements themselves (which is what I call the individual pieces) are pieces I have found through various exhaustive searches for particular things such as butterflies, birds, flowers, backgrounds etc, some of which are offered free for personal use (with the stipulation of no commercial gain), and others that I just happen to come across on my web travels :D I make many adjustments to any piece as I add it to the panel, altering the color, hue, brightness, contrast, size, cropping, and sometimes adding filters for special effects, though that is done mostly to the font/text, to help it stand out against the background. I started constructing my own angels a little while ago, and just completed this one yesterday :)

I seldom animate them because it is too detracting from the text, though with this one, because of the length of the text, animation seemed the best way to get it all on one panel. I had tried the dress before on previous angels but it did not work for me; I had to add the arms individually (I added the flowers in the hands, also :)), and the torso and head, to which I added hair, and then used Marilyn Monroe's face :D The wings and halo effects are also added :) My design process is fairly spontaneous, meaning, I do not start out with an idea of how I want the panel to look. I simply start with a blank frame, add a background or two or three, add flowers, put in the text, add the figure, etc etc, and so it goes. If I don't like it I just keep at it until I do, though there are some I started and never finished ;) The figure often takes the most amount of work...

Sounds like you have a happy, busy, family/home life :)
