Salvation is by grace through Faith ( Hence the name i chose )
8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
No what some do is add ' but '

Does you salvation message include a 'but '
For Example : ' But you have to repent of your sins "

But that faith is never alone ( calvinists)

"But you can't just live how you want and still expect ....."

"But .....

Why are some adding to :
.8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: ?

Can it be that it really is good news ?

Men, religionists, those not led of God will, without apology and or batting an eye will embellish the word of God, skew the word of God and conflate truths while denying contextual honesty.....we see this daily on this site....

For example....one particular Calvinist will peddle the following while arguing against the following scripture....

I will quote the following verbatim-->Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God

and she will say...

I have no understanding
God's ways are higher than my ways

and she was saved without the word of God, without a choice, God willed it and later it was explained to her.

I will say....God is bound by his word and No one is saved without the word of God being proclaimed, received by faith and confessed in faith

She will repeat the same generic blather she learned from the top Calvinist peddler on this site.....

It is tragic and sickening at the same time!

Yeah, if I say I will give you this free gift... IF you mow my lawns and do my washing, It's not a free gift. You'd have to do something to get it

So with being given eternal life, it is a free gift, as Ephesians 2 says. When it is given, there is nothing the receiver does to keep it. Its given and owned by Jesus. Not maintained by the receiver.

Because of this huge grace then, the receiver has a new nature and is then motivated and empowered by the giver.

They could go back to old ways.. and most believers at some times do.. but they are motivated and empowered by Jesus to return to His ways.

You don't have to mow the lawns and do the washing. You do have to open the box & receive it though.

(The OP listed repenting as a "but") Repenting is not a "work" and is necessary for salvation.
Repenting is accepting the gift because you realise you need it. Jesus doesn't force anyone to take the gift he is giving.

When I was given to repent it was due to the sudden understanding that the creation is not important but the Creator is all. He is It, never this world at any level, not our thinking, our likes outside of our Maker, our deeds, material possessions, nothing at all for it is all destined for the fire next time.

We turn from the temporal to all eternal.

Can you explain,It’s given and owned by Jesus?....what is owned by Jesus?

Is that scriptural?...no offence just trying to understand.thanks.

But would you say we don't repent of our sins to be saved ?

But that faith is never alone ( calvinists)
Yes that is the qualification that Calvinists have made... and so many have adopted not realizing it is adding Ephesians 2:8.

Luther did not understand James and neither do Calvinists.

It would seem saying we turn from our likes and dislikes includes repenting for realizing what we will is unacceptable to our Maker is accepting what is to Him.

do you think God abandons those who put their faith in Him?

no?
no?

if you don't believe God is unfaithful to work in a man or woman who trusts Him, then you don't believe faith is ever alone, either.

He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.
(1 Thessalonians 5:24)
this is why the faith that saves is not alone.

We are saved by grace. Faith is how we know we have received grace. Repentance is the result of salvation. The new creature walks in newness of life not in the old paths of the lost.

Faith and grace are not interchangeable terms.

Those that state faith is never alone...are referring to works proving one's faith.
Calvinist demand proof of salvation as a means of authentication.

That is his current position. All are already lost and condemned. They must be redeemed by grace to change their estate.

God draws all to Himself. God convicts all of sin. God shows for the righteousness of Christ. Man chooses to receive or reject the grace of God. Every person without exception makes the choice.
