Also, I think what throws most sincere christians off, to thinking that "their faith" saves them is Eph 2:8, but the faith mentioned in this verse is "the faith of Jesus Christ". Gal 2:16 will harmonize with this truth; Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law (their faith), but by the faith "OF" Jesus Christ.
The KJV says faith "OF" Jesus Christ, yet numerous other translations say faith "IN" Jesus Christ.
Galatians 2:16 (ESV) - yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith
"IN" Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith
"IN" Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.
Galatians 2:16 (NAS) - nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith
"IN" Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith
"IN" Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.
Galatians 2:16 (NKJV) - knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith
"IN" Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith
"IN" Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.
Galatians 2:16 (NIV) - know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith
"IN" Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith
"IN" Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.
Jesus Christ is the author and finished of
"OUR" faith.. (Hebrews 12:2)
In 1 Peter 1:9, we read - receiving the end of
"YOUR" faith—the salvation of your souls.
Believers exercise faith
"IN" Jesus Christ.
