Im scarred...

Today while I was out shopping with my mom I got a free double movie pass from a Radio station promoter.
I thought sweet! I'll do a date night with my other half and enjoy a free movie
We went to see it.

Now we both want to scrub our eyes with dirt patties with a dash of Jesus' spit.

The movie was called "Your Highness"

Looking at the ticket stub it had a picture of James Franco and Natalie Portman and some other bloke wearing medieval garb, and we thought "Cool! looks like another historical fantasy robin hood type movie. We were thinking it would be similar to one of James Franco's earlier movies "Tristan and Isolde."

It wasn't.
It was disgusting, repulsive and I was terribly upset at their using multiple centuries worth of historic dress (historical accuracy no matter how comedic the dialogue is matters to me). Not to mention the ever distateful "funny" references to rape, child molestation, masturbation, genitalia and fornication not to mention the the F word cropping up every 15 seconds.

Heres my critical review

The Director/Producer/Script Writer obviously made this movie to add more spice to their lonesome love life and wanted to share it to every other like minded person.

Yuck

So anyway, for the sake of me and anyone else not wanting to accidentally pick out a movie we really shouldnt watch, what movie do you wish you never saw and recommend others to never watch.

PS Please only discuss movies that you believe discourage our faith. If your a male who regrets watching Pride and Prejudice, too bad, that doesnt count lololol.

District 9 - The term disappointing doesn't even begin to describe how much I hated seeing this movie. It sucked on so many levels. I would go into details but I don't want to spoil it for anybody. I know a lot people liked it, but for someone like me who thinks logically about what can be true and what seems completely silly it was a HUGE disappointment. And yes, I know it was meant to convey a message. Horrible! HORRIBLE!

Aliens with advanced technology will not become the type of "people" depicted in the film. There's just no way. If they were like that, they never would have become advanced enough to develop the technology to travel through space. Just the engineering needed to get something moving at the speed needed to travel through galaxies without it disintegrating is beyond the laws of physics. One has to travel faster than the speed of light because the nearest planets outside our solar system are light years away. That means even at the speed of light (about 186,000 mph) it would take thousands of years just to reach the next nearest planetary system (if one even exists). Any life form that can figure that out is extremely more advanced. more intelligent, and more capable than humans.

Ok I get your drift, you've certainly proved that its discouraging and from your reasoning unreliable, from a scientific point of view, but can you be specific in why you believe this is discouraging spiritually to other christians?

I know there was the odd F word spoken in Afrikaans, but was there anything in the dialogue or overall message that you felt convicted by the Holy Spirit as being just plain wrong?

I personally don't support the notion of aliens and aliens travelling through space etc, but I did find the movie interesting in the fact that it avoided the typical hollywood speel of aliens trying to kill humans and takeover and physical probing etc and instead look at the concept of humans becoming perpetrators of cruelty towards them. And I liked the lesson of "what would you do/how would you feel if you were in my shoes." I also thought it incrediably thought provoking watching the scenes where humans show their capability to sin for 'bigger & better & advanced" weaponry. And the parallel of the movie concept being set in Jo-burg, South Africa which historically was the worst hub of racism for over 300 years.

I have seen a lot of filth in the past.. Being a movie lover, I used to revel in it. I loved the movies with shock value, etc... Now? If I read the review and it excites my flesh, I don't allow myself to go.

Anchor Man. Ugh. Youth group a few years ago made the mistake of going to see this. PG-13? Um... maybe if you take out a few scenes. They were pushing the line between PG-13 and R and we were not happy about it. Besides it was stupid beyond belief.

I would watch Number 23 again if they took out the language and the one *cough* scene. Both were absolutely unnecessary. The movie had an incredible plot, the best I've ever seen. I was told the R-ness of it wasn't that bad. Yea. Right.

Booty Call.???. i think..... me and my friend were at a girls sleepover and we just thought we should watch a movie..... so one of the girls I had just met there..

we were both friends with the host girl.... put on the movie and we were watching... it was bad.... and it didn't get better.. but worse!!..and then came the

awkward moment of "God how do I not watch this screen right infront of me..."... thankfully I was delivered ... Praise God..

If I have the title right,.. then the movie is not supposed to be a good movie.. it has a bad title..

the moral of the story is not to go to sleep over with strangers... even if they are a friend of your good friend ..cause the truth is they can be wild and may put

on really disturbing movies.....

Sorry, I didn't look at it from a christian point of view. I've been secular most of my life so when I see a movie I just want to be entertained. I don't really care if it goes against christian principles. Most movies do. I am not afraid of these movies corrupting my mind or my faith. If you knew the sins that i did in real life before I came to Christ then you'd know that my secular taste in movies and music is not going to harm me. Plus, I know movies are just actors on a movie set with scripts and special effects people and camera crews. And the stories are just written up by ordinary people who have good imaginations. When I was younger I probably would be very influenced by what I see in a movie, but now that I'm older, movies are just a way to cure boredom for 2 hours.

I used to love horror movies but ever since I became christian I can't stand to watch most of them. Vampires and werewolves are okay because that is so fake we know it would never happen. But slasher and zombie movies, my soul just can't take it, watching a person kill another person. AAAAAAHHHHH! I don't get scared but my chest literally hurts with sadness.

About a year ago I tried to watch Holloween II which was the second one written and directed by Rob Zombie. In the first seen there was the killer guy walking around the hospital killing people who are already sick. How evil is that.

Still, the trailer they showed on tv depicts it as a sci-fi thriller like Independence Day or Close Encounters because they never showed the full trailer on tv. They only showed the huge spaceship parts and some of the super weapons because the full trailer is 2 and a half minutes long.. I was definitely not expecting an amateurish depiction of the conflict between lower and middle class society. I so wanted my money back. And what was with all of the raving reviews? Even if I came to see a movie about society it would still have stunk in my opinion. It was unbelievably predictable and cliche'. A 12 year old could have written a more moving and insightful story in my opinion.

WARNING - Some MOVIE SPOILERS might be in here...

What I found cliche' and predicatable about it is this...

- aliens looked nasty (like in the Alien movies)
- the humans were the superior species
- the lower class was shown as dirty, animalistic beings (in reality, many poor people and oppressed people are some of most decent, strong, generous individuals you will ever meet. The stereotype of them being criminals and dumb is not accurate. Only the ones you hear about in the news and in the movies are like that.)
- the militant army guys were made to look dumb and insensitive (big surprise there)
- the guy so obviously was going to get that stuff on him and was obviously going to become what he became (trying not to give it away), and what happened in his life after that was so completely predictable to me.
- Then it ended with the big shootout finale (gee, didn't see that one coming!-sarcasm)
- and then the "artsy" ending which I thought was very predictable, I mean where else could the the flowers be from? I wanted my two and half hours back so bad.

Movies to me aren't disappointing unless there is some form of emotional investment or hope in the Movie. Movies that do that to me, I've walked off and wanted to claw my eyeballs out. Like more recently the movie Due Date, I found impossible to watch. If I wanted to see something like that I would have watched Jackass.

-The Fountain (GAHHHH< RAAAAAAAGEEEEE!!!!!!) Sheer Rage, at the absence of anything remotely watchable. I still want my 6-9 dollars back.

-Alexander (This makes Broke Back mountain look like little house on the Prairie) I thought it was going to be like Troy, nope I was very wrong.

-Little Miss Sunshine (are we for real) If this movie was toted as an expose on Child Beauty Markets, or whatever those things are called, fine but, its not. It was really dumb in a really dumb sort of way.

-Catwoman, This movie is literally impossible to watch. Whoever decided that film shots should be no longer than 1,000 milliseconds of camera angle, deserved to be flipping burgers. The plot? I have no idea.

-Battlefield Earth, Welcome to the world of L Ron Hubbard. This movie is incredibly bad. Comparatively speaking, the sci-fi channel makes about 3 bad movies a week but, you watch knowing its bad. This was surprisingly worse.

-The Year One with Jack Black and that Skinnny kid thats in a lot of teen movies. Yeah, bad, desperately bad. I feel like the joke was on the people who paid to see it.

-Lady in the Water. After watching and enjoying the Village and Signs, I was not prepared to be as bored and confused as I was for this movie.

Well, there is more I'm sure but these really fried my burrito.

I write a review blog called "Ye Be Warned," which is more or less a "word of caution" to horror buffs like myself who have at one time or another found themselves watching a film they really wished they hadn't. Here's my personal Top 5 Movies that there's really no good reason to see.

5. Jack Ketchum's The Girl Next Door- Based off Jack Ketchum's disturbing novel, this story is based on the horrific murder of Sylvia Likens, which is a dark story by itself. Unfortunately Jack Ketchum decided to make the story even worse and included many horrible things you can't unsee. It's a dark disturbing movie and it will break you if you make the mistake of watching it. If you're into true-crime and are interested in the real story of what happened to this girl, "An American Crime" is far more accurate, and doesn't make you feel like you need a shower after you've seen it.

4. Salo- Based off a book written by the Marquis de Sade (if you do a Google search you'll probably find him under "incredibly perverted rapist author who lunatics revere as a genius"). The plot revolves around 18 youths who are kidnapped by 4 men of power who torture and humiliate them before they finally brutally murder them. The film contains sexual perversion by the gallon, and grotesque violence. There's nothing redeemable about this film and there's no good reason to watch it.

3. Meet the Feebles- Take the Muppets... then rewrite them so they're drug addicted, sex crazed, STD infected, murdering, psychotic monsters and you have "Meet the Feebles." It's hard to believe the director who brought us an STD infected plush rabbit puppet vomiting all over a stage was also the same man who brought us the amazing rendition of Lord of the Rings. Peter Jackson, I love your work, but this movie was awful. "Meet the Feebles" has nothing redeemable in it. The plot is disgusting, the humor is disgusting, more than half the characters are disgusting... it's a very unpleasant viewing experience.

2. Irreversible- The plot starts at the end and works backwards, but the chronological order of the story is a man and woman are young and in love, the woman has just learned she's pregnant with his child and the future awaits them. Within 24 hours, the woman is brutally mugged, raped, and nearly killed, and the man is in the hospital with a broken arm and guilty of murdering the man he thought did it . It's not an uplifting film in the slightest, and since it starts at the end and works it's way to the happy beginning it leaves you with this helpless feeling. The rape scene (which is almost 10 minutes long) and the murder scene are why this is on my "DO NOT WATCH" list.

And the #1 worst is: A Serbian Film. I won't even say what's in it, only that watching it was the biggest mistake of my life. This movie includes things you not only can't unsee but you will be ashamed to admit you saw them (it took my boyfriend over an hour to finally get out of me what was in that movie that had me so rattled). People who read the premise, know the warnings of what's in it, and are dumb enough to watch it anyways (like I was) should also know that the director is facing criminal charges for illegal use of some of his actors. This movie should not exist.

Lol I think the moral of that story is to not watch movies with an obvious title like Booty Call lol. Ive never heard of this movie but just the title alone would send me running hahaha

So.. Your hobby is watching movies that depict sadistic violence?
I dont understand. The bible says that God intends for us to be more like his son in thought and deed. How can you watch that stuff and not get upset? And don't give me the lame excuse of "its only actors and a script and special effects blah blah blah." Movies are made to depict an earthly reality or some sort of imagined reality. All movies have a message behind it.

Its like an guy being caught watching a porn movie and saying "Awww its fake! Its only actors! I don't know them, it doesnt effect me except for entertainment gee why are you taking this so personally? Honestly, I was watching it for the special effects! YEAH RIGHT, says the wife.

When I was dating my ex, he tricked me into watching Saw. I couldn't do five minutes of that. And I was annoyed that he called it thriller instead of horror. The only other violently sadistic movie Ive seen was passion of the Christ and I had to watch it twice because I cried through the entire first one and so I couldnt remember much through my shock. But that horror story has the best message in the world.

I haven't watched Lady in the Water, mainly because Signs was so incredibly bad the director has no more goodwill left with me, that one probably tops my list for most nonsensical storyline in the history of cinema.

I agree that The Fountain is another not to be recommended, the tragedy being that like lots of mediocre films it had the potential to be excellent, but the audience was left to fill in too much information, leaving most people and myself included needing to go home and do reasearch to fully to fully grasp what it was all about, and then when I finally got it I realised that it really wasn't anything worth hiding......big waste of time.
