The devil is always trying to get in your way.

Sometimes you have your day all planned out, but the devil comes and messes everything up. Eg you cant find your keys or the car wont start.

You need to plan for the devil. Always have a back up plan.

The devil knows your weak points, and he will use them to turn you astray.

Search your heart and see whether there is anything there that satan can use to turn you astray. Something that you want so badly, you will compromise your faith just to have it.

When you are following Jesus, you have to be prepared to deny yourself.

Sin in your life is deadlier than the corona virus.

In the same way we have our guard up against corona, its the same way we must do all we can to avoid sin.

Though sadly some are at ease, not taking any precaution -no social distancing etc. Some are like that with their sin too -they are relaxed.

All the sins listed in Galatians 5:19-21 are all rooted in covetousness. We desire to do or have things which God does not permit.

Contentment is the cure for covetousness.

We are rich in physical things but we are not rich towards God.

Whether you received one or two talent, one day you will have to give an account for the blessings given to you.

(luke 12:16-21) the rich man in the story is you and me. We came into the world with nothing and look at all the things we have acquired. House, car, food? How have you used them in the kingdom of God?

When we come to church we should be excited to hear the word of God.

We should not just sit there with our mouths closed, we need to say amen when the word is preached.

The half hearted effort that some of us give God, if we did that at our work place we wouldn't have a job.

If you follow your feelings, sometimes you wouldn't even get out of bed in the mornings. But you need to say to those defeating feelings, get thee behind me satan.

Certain things a Christian should not do. If you have to suffer, suffer for righteousness sake, not because you are an evil doers. (1Peter 4:15,19)

Today at our church we had a guest preacher. His sermon was based on Psalms 127:1 Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

I believe it is talking about having foundation in God and building the house with Gods help, if we try to get blessed using our own power and understanding it will not work. If we rely on God the house is most likely to be built and stay built. According to Jesus, storms can blow the house down if there is no good foundation. "We should always put God in everything we do". That is what Denzel Washington said. I believe in this. The secret to spiritual growth is reliance on God, and doing what he wants.

Phil 3:13-14 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Forget about the time when you were hurt, the divorce that you went through, the sin you committed, whatever it might be that you are looking back to, and press on.

You can't move forward if you are constantly looking back on past failures.

And when you have made progress in your life, you must not look back. Lot's wife was going in the right direction, but she looked back.

This is the reason why even though some of us should be teachers by now, we are still drinking milk. We are lagging behind, instead of moving forward.(Hebrews 5:12)

But always remember Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

2But your iniquities have separated you from your God;
And your sins have hidden His face from you,
So that He will not hear.

People in sin are not crying out to God because they dont see anything wrong with their behavior. Many of us as christians well know that certain things we are doing is not right, but we still flirt with danger. And when the consequences come we say, "God why did you allow this to happen? Why didnt You prevent it from happening?"

Sin brings psysological hurt and shame, just like Adam and Eve who were ashamed of themselves. Sin brings disgrace. When we sin, we try to cover it up. We dont want pastor and others to know about it.

Sin puts you in a devastating position. When we sin, we are cut up on the inside.

Some people are so far gone, they dont have anymore hurt or shamed feelings. They are so far gone, every imagination of their heart is evil. Even when they talk nothing good comes out of their mouths.

Sin is like cancer, the longer you keep it there it will get worst.

Being a Christian doesn't mean you don't sin anymore, it means you don't sin continuously.

We need to cry out to God.

Thanks for always reviving this thread=). I often look fwd to what others have been learning in church, but of course God is teaching us in many others ways every day. I also love the verse quoted and would share it w/ others when there is opportunity. Now I neednt search it, and can easily copy and pass on!

Our msg was on this life journey's end. Being Nov. 1, death is foremost in many people's mind, and always timely to hear that whatever age, status, size or size of checkbook, there is the certainty of death for all. At the same time, there's the hope of eternal life for those who believe in Christ the Savior.

I heard a very good sermon today about faith. Probably the best I have ever heard on the subject. Very practical information also.

The strange thing is the person who delivered it was a mere elder and not a pastor. I know, here I go again.

I just don't get it. The church is currently scrambling to find a head pastor with all the fancy credentials next to his name to replace the outgoing one. The leadership is beating their brains out looking all over the country when they have a great man of God right in front of them.

What do pastors do anymore besides deliver sermons? This elder I am speaking of can do that pretty well. And to top it off, I bet he would do it with very little compensation. You can tell that's what he loves to do.

Sure, the modern pastor is in charge of all the business dealings of the church and they may need some business experience, granted. But why can't we promote the current office manager and find her an assistant? She already runs everything, anyway. This, in my opinion, would save a lot of money in the long run.

All of the ministry people-- you know, the ones who do all the work and don't make a dime-- are already in place. Why try and re-invent the wheel with another expensive staff member?

Psychics and people practicing witchcraft may be popular among people of the world, but we were reminded in today's sermon not to induldge in these evil practices which are an abomination to God.

Whatever problems we are going through in life we need to look to God, and the bible for only He alone can truly help us.

I heard a sermon last week about forgiving offences and not holding on to things like being racists, classist or prejudices as we are all humans. We need to have nothing but love in our hearts toward one another. Cos thats what God has.
