I'm honestly very surprised we don't have many people talking about this. This is actually huge news, and very tragic. I guess I'd just like to raise awareness, as barely anyone seems to know about it, and wouldn't mind hearing a few opinions on it. Oh, and please, let's talk about the bill and related things specifically, no need to turn this into another argument which has happened over and over again.
Here's the basics... Uganda is a Christian nation, in the sense that the vast majority are of the religion. Ugandan Parliament is scheduled to vote today (Friday, May 13) on the 'Uganda Anti-Homosexuality Bill' which would sentence all homosexuals to death, including those who have already been convicted, for which there is currently a 7 year prison sentence for. The bill is expected to pass based on polls, but the US has already said it would withdraw all foreign aid if it passes, so that may change some minds.
This is a big deal, and it's happening today. I'm worked up about it as is, but back when I was a Christian I would have been just as upset, because they would be killing these people in the name of my god, which would be very saddening. What I would consider to be a perversion of my faith. That's my personal opinion, I think it's disgusting that a bill like this has even the slightest chance of passing, let alone will likely go through.
