What do you like to put in spaghetti?

Yup, this thread is as simple as that. :cool:

Spaghetti is easy to whomp up, perfect for indolent people, tired people and people with little time. (Guess which one I am... hint, I have the time and energy to make a totally useless thread like this.) So when you get tired of traditional spaghetti sauces, what do you like to put in it instead?

One of my favorites is crab delight.

Squish a pack of imitation crab until it is minced (because I'm allergic to real shellfish.)
Add milk, butter, and melt into the spaghetti.
Add salt, parsley and basil.
Alternatively add salt and dill weed.

I am so simple with mine ☺ I add some Fried thin slices of garlic and some dried tomatoes( I like the one bought from Thailand their dried tomatoes are a Lil sweet) add some powdered pepper,and salt. The oil I use is olive oil. That's all ☺ Perfect!

Literally just pasta sauce and ground beef 😆
I mean, I enjoy other things in spaghetti, but there's just something warm and comforting about simple, classic spaghetti.

Hunts Four Chesses Sauce, baked/diced boneless/skinless chicken breasts, black olives and sprinkled with Parmesan Cheese. Side of toasted Italian bread, nicely buttered.

Is that the tomato based four cheese sauce or the cream sauce?

Either way is good... There are no wrong answers, unless your stomach is set for one or the other.

For some reason butter also gives regular tomato sauce spaghetti a comfy taste. Just a touch of butter changes the whole pot.

Also ranch dressing... Don't look at me like that! Just a few drops of ranch dressing can turn tomato spaghetti into something amazing. But it's very easy to overdo it, then it just makes the whole pot icky.

I just bought 2 - two pound bags of spaghetti at the dollar store for a dollar each :D

I use tinned crushed tomatoes as my sauce base, adding garlic powder, Italian spices,
basil, and maybe some organic oregano oil to that while it simmers, the noodles cook,
and whatever meat (usually a mini beef or turkey meatball) bakes. Once noodles are
drained, and while they are still steaming hot, I pour the sauce over them and add
cubed or grated cheeses, usually mozzarella plus some cheddar, so the cheese melts
into the mixture, to which I then add the baked meatballs, and mix well.


Sometimes I add a bit of olive oil to the cooked noodles before adding everything else.

Plain and fairly simple to prepare, and so yum!

After all that? I had to make some, and I am eating it now :D

I tried your suggestion, Lynx, of adding some butter to the sauce :)

I does taste creamier ;)

For a heartier sauce, add chopped up celery, onion and yellow, orange, or
red pepper to the sauce while it is simmering, and/or sliced mushrooms (y)

I use a drizzle of red wine to spaghetti sauce, it does something wonderful to the flavor, imo. The alcohol burns off, btw.

Tomato base. The cream base can be a bit off sometimes. It's like white casa; just seems wrong to me. :)

Other than trying every pasta sauce out there in the supermarket (including Vodka sauce), I guess I've once put in some crushed basil and pine nuts to make a pesto based sauce.

.. BAM... dinner is served oh French bread with butter and mozzarella or chedder works too... in oven as its all cooking with some rosemary and basil with touch of ground crushed pepper and tad bit of olive oil (EVOL) on bread 😉

I pour the sauce on top of the speghetti (instead of stirring it in), and add romano/parm cheese

forgot to say add (brand , preggo, with mushroom sauce, or regular or meat sause flavor)!!!

I bought some ground beef today to *cough* beef up my next spaghetti's' tomato sauce :)

And a huge white onion, which I will slightly sauté before adding to the sauce :D


I always have lots of oregano, basil, garlic, and other herbs and spices on hand (y)

In fact, while cooking the meat, I will add organic oregano oil :cool:

Sometimes I make pasta sauce with red/kidney beans instead of beef.

Marinara/tomato basil sauce with red beans, onion, lots of garlic, and either green pepper or zucchini with italian seasoning and a few other spices.
