since when can we not use resources WE AFFIRM?
What does a cut and paste have to do with bearing "false witness" ? If you "cut and paste" a verse from the bible and insert it into a post, are you "bearing false witness" ? Is anybody that pastes a commentary not of their own words "bearing false witness" ? Where and how you come up with this nonsense is beyond me. In any event, in regards to this "question",....." In your opinion do you believe as a Christian Paul strove to obey the law and the result was that his mind became full of lust and concupiscence(sexual desire) and he was slew by this and it brought death in him?".....are you asking if it was Paul's "striving to obey" that caused him to sin and thus brought his judgement ? My simple answer would be no. It was not his "striving". It was the fact that he was in the "flesh"....that sinful nature that is common to all of us. This is what that "cut and paste" (you know...that bearing false witness thing) explained to you (to no avail). If that isn't what you were asking, try making your questions a tad clearer. There is so much doublespeak in many of your posts, it is dizzying just trying to read them. One minute it is God's grace that saves us........the next minute it is "our responsibility" to do this or that. Which is it LBG ? Or is it God's grace "IF" we "DO" this or that ? Make up your mind, will ya ?
***I don't adhere to your understanding of "plain scripture" in regards to Paul's infirmity. But that's neither here nor there.

Would you give a hearty amen to the above Zone?
Now now Zone, try and speak with scrupulous honesty concerning what others have said
I am happy to quote Spurgeon for your benefit I know you base most of your opinions on scholars and theologians
Did Paul say he was perfect? Have I said he was perfect?
Well as I believe(correct me if I am wrong) Paul wrote the book of Romans many years after his conversion(maybe someone could tell me exactly when)
You therefore believe that for most of Paul's Christian life he was
Sold as a slave to sin
A prisoner of sin
(a carnal Christian under sin KJV)
The good he wanted to do he did not do, but rather the evil he did not want to do he continuously did
If this is correct I wonder why I have been concerned about much in my own life, if this was Paul's life as a Christian. I am sure I will never be as far along the road as he was, I should certainly expect no more than the above in my own life
But I do wonder how all this fits in with
For sin shall not be your master, for you are not under law but under grave Rom 6:14
obviously this did not apply to Paul's Christian life
your reckless mishandling of God's Word is bothersome.
but do as you see fit (the fact you find so much resistence should clue you in...but...alas)
see ya![]()
Why as a Christian would Paul strive to obey the written law?
The good laws of God he would have us keep have been written on our hearts and minds, that is the new covenant, meaning that in our hearts we want to live as God would have us live.
So why after Paul continually stating he died to the law and was not under the law, did he strive to obey it and it slew him and became death unto him. How can this happen if he had died to the law?
When we die to the law (not just Paul....all of us that are redeemed through Christ), it means that we are freed from the penalty of the law (which is death). If Paul "died to the law" in the context you are speaking, why would he "delight in the law of God after the inward man" (verse 22) ? As was explained in my earlier post, Paul places the "law of God" in juxtaposition (side by side or for comparison) to "another law"...... "For I see "another law" in my members, warring against the law of my mind (the battle between our flesh and our Spirit), and bringing Paul (and us) into captivity to the law of sin, which is in my (our) members" (verse 23). It is this law, "another law", the law of sin...not the law of God...from which we are freed: "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death" (Romans 8:2).....and thus it's penalty. God's laws are not "null and void" when we receive Christ or "die to the law"..i.e...."Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid!" (Romans 3:31). But thanks be to God, we are delivered from the penalty for disobedience of that law!

Paul did delight in God's laws and strove to obey them, but they became death unto him. He is speaking in the above of before he became a Christian. There is nothing worong with God's good and Holy Laws, but sin used the law to condemn Paul. This was the agony of Paul. He agreed with the good laws of God he was not keeping to and by striving to obey these laws he simply became a worse sinner

Absolutely, the good laws of God he would have us keep are not null and void, God wants them upheld in our lives
But the good laws of God He would have us keep are kept by us dying to the law and living by faith in Christ, and most seem not to see this or understand why
Sin used the law to bring death to Paul while he was under the law
The power of sin is the law 1 Cor 15:56
But we do not need the written law. The good laws of God he would have us keep have been written on our hearts and minds
For the truly sincere of heart Christian it is their job to look to Christ and trust him to change them, not to struggle and strive to obey the law
Obediance comes by faith Rom 1:5
If we trust Christ to change us he will, and because we are not under the law sins power in our lives must weaken. The true convert loves God and His son, they want in their heart to live as God would have them live, it is instinctive for his laws are written on their hearts and minds
Therefore, their job is to look to Christ, trust him and rely on the Holy Spirit to sanctify them, then the good laws of God he would have us keep are far better upheld in our lives
But we do not look to the written law to achieve this. We look to Christ

What are the good laws that have been written on our hearts and minds that we are to keep that have not been written in the scriptures?
Explain the following passage in the context of your statement and tell us what those laws are that are being practiced by the Gentiles that show the work of the law written in their hearts ...
Rom 2:14,15 14For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
15Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another.

Well as you never answer any of the questions I put to you on this website, I don't think you should be expecting me to answer any of yours
All I will say is. By your very first paragraph, you show you do not understand the heart of grace and how it works
And one other note; this thread was started by a 15 year old girl, who is unsure about her spiritual status. (just saying)
Forever in Christ![]()
yeah i said the above statement too but most seem too self absorbed to actually care about the status of others and the harm they are doing. most people justify sin before committing it. Praying they will confess and repent but leaving it in God's hands.

If you want me to answer the above questions, start a thread on them and I will, BUT only on the condition that you FULLY EXPLAIN what you are saying in your first paragraph
Then it would be more loving of you Anandya to make your infered criticisms of people in this thread to them in private, rather than in public wouldn't it?
Otherwise you may just be displaying the traits you are being critical of concerning others
being lazy, didn't feel like messaging everyone involved and i posted a nicer one earlier and was ignored.
I'm just expressing what many probably have been thinking but don't bother posting.
sides what's there to hide?still love you LBG
