Ive lived in the Philippines, California, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. I've visited Canada, Hawaii, Virginia, Florida, Texas, Washington (state), Washington D.C., New York and of course, Las Vegas.

Most interesting place I've lived: California

Nicest place I've lived: New Jersey

Nicest place I've visited: Hawaii (of course)

Most interesting place I've visited: Washington D.C. (because of the awesome Smithsonian museums and national historic landmarks)

Gabe, I completely agree about Washington DC. I can spend DAYS at the Smithsonian and there are so many different things to do and see. It's constantly changing. I love business trips there. It's a very vibrant place to be. :)

Yea, and its really pretty at night too. :) The weird thing is that just a few blocks from the capitol are the areas where theres a lot of crime and murders because its the inner city, low income areas which are actually the larger part of DC.

One of the worst things about being there in the winter months are the number of people you see sleeping on cardboard on the grates to keep warm from the steam coming up. I have to admit that I like the street vendors selling purse knockoffs. :) That stuff is way overpriced anyway. I don't like that you really can't drive your car there; no parking. I like to stay just across the river where it's safer and take the Metro in, but then people watching is a favorite pass time.

It won't be as pretty this year, since they've drained the reflecting pool at the Mall for repairs.

Oh yea I've seen homeless people doing that in New York and Philadelphia when I was growing up. They are usually older people too. Very sad. Have u ever watched a movie called "The Human Experience"? It is a documentary by two young guys from NY who decide to leave their halfway house to embark on some journeys of discovery. Their first discovery is what its like to be homeless on the streets of NY. Its a really great movie. Its safe for kids too.

I'm so exceptionally jealous lol. I have never left Australia (and barely seen any of my own country here). However, global travel is my ultimate dream.

Hubby and I would LOVE to travel around the world on a working holiday and experiece other cultures. I get excited just thinking about it. I cannot wait for the day we will board a plane to another country, but for now it is just a far off dream *sigh*. Great thread, but if I keep reading it, I might cry lol :p

I would have to agree--I am very envious of the people here who have been so many places... I love to travel, even if it's just to a new place down the street.

I've been to something like 15 states within the USA--IL, IN, CO, NY, CA, WA, NV, AZ, FL, TX, WI, OH, VA, AL, and Washington, D.C. (not technically a state, but hey...) and will be headed to Oregon sometime next year to visit family.

Ironically, I live in the midwest but have never been to Canada!!! I hope to make it there in the next few years.

As far as overseas, I've been back to (South) Korea, and also to France, Italy, and Switzerland, but only for two weeks. I LOVED VENICE--it was so amazing... and the Coliseum in Rome was one of the most breathtaking things I've ever seen... not to mention the Grand Canyon...

In past years, I was scheduled to go on missions trips to India and Ukraine, but for some reason, it wound up not working out yet--I guess it's just not my time to go... am hoping someday soon though!!!

Envy, jealousy, ... Hmm, I should have remained silent. Honestly, I didn't really want to tell anyone where I've been or where I used to live. Since I can no longer delete my post, I should be more discreet next time.

The places you have lived, and the things you have visited sound wonderful. I think it is great that you have gotten to experience all that. You sounded grateful to me. (not bragging) :)

It's fine, Vinifera. It's not bragging if someone asks you a question. We're all just sharing experiences here. :)

In all honesty, some of the people who haven't traveled much already live in some of the best places in the world, so I can't imagine why they'd ever want to leave anyway. :)

Oh don't feel so bad Katie. I'm sure there are things that you are able to enjoy that many of us would be jealous of, like having a beautiful family for one :) I would gladly trade all of the travel in the world for that.

I have always been in one country .. my whole life.. Tanzania-Africa... I love it... so relatively I have no idea where it ranks, but from the MKs some love it and some can't wait to leave....*shrug*... one thing about Tanzania is that it's really hot... it's at the hottest place in the Tropics but fortunately it's not a desert ,so it's a little a bit cooler...and humid
But I will be moving to Palo Alto, California for college....... excited and scared at the same time.. I hope and pray that the transition may be easy,... :)

If we lived in a place as beautiful and diverse as Australia, we probably wouldn't want to leave it. :)

My sister used to live in Palo Alto. Its a really nice place. I think you'll like it there.
