Hey Everyone,

BrotherMike's post in Shiney's Fitness thread made me think of all the things I do in life that I absolutely hate, but do them anyway, simply "because it's good for me", or is supposed to be.

For instance, one of the things I've added to my diet is a green veggie powder, which results in something that looks like this:



I can tell you right now that it tastes like something you would be left with if you emptied all the contents from your lawnmower (including the dirt,) whirred it up in a food processor, and then added water.

DEE-lish.

NOT.

Yet I've been downing this horrible-looking, smelling, and tasting concoction every day -- "because it's good for me."

I can't help but think of how the Bible consistently tells us to practice self-denial (because who wouldn't want a big milkshake instead of this awful sludge,) self-discipline (just getting myself to mix it up is a chore,) and self-control (forcing myself to down this every single day is a challenge,) because even beyond the (alleged) nutritional benefits, God tells me that putting such principles into practice is good for me.

I know this seems like a minor example, and I can think of several other areas of my life in which I do things I hate but know in the long run, it's good for me, and will save a whole lot more hassle than if I don't do them.

How about our intrepid CC audience out there? :geek:

What are some of the things that YOU really don't like doing, but do them anyway (or at least, attempt to,) because you know they're good for you?

And even if you have a whole list of things you know you should be doing but aren't quite there yet, feel free to share them anyway so that we can encourage and help each other along! :giggle:

thats looks like a real thick compost tea seoul, better to put on your plants than drink yourself.
Though mum has been whizzing up fruit concoctions in her bulllet whizzer because shes recovering from an operation on her liver...she puts any fruit and veges in it. But no powders.

she wouldnt touch this milk thistle and dandelion tea that shes supposed to drink everyday so I drank it instead and it wasnt too bad. I usually just drink herb teas from whatever I can pick in the garden..thyme, yarrow, lemon balm, plaintain and I actually like it better than 'normal' black tea that has to be shipped all the way from India with milk from cows from nz that I dont milk myself.

I only drink that because Dads ALWAYS making it. I dont really like it that much but i supoose its a social thing. I sometimes cant be bothered making cups of tea with milk and tea bags and just boil hot water instead and drink it.

Yep my dad still drinks milk (in his tea) though I can actually live without it I reckon most babyboomers in nz cannot as they've never been weaned off it. supposedly good for you but we not babies anymore.

I've always said, "If God meant for me to eat grass clippings, He would have made me a rabbit."

But, I still eat them (in the form of spinach.) Because it's good for me. 😳

Trying to go to bed earlier even though I like staying up late;

Reducing snacks and carbs;

Reducing meal portion sizes

Yeah. They sell soylent now. It's not a wafer though, it's a powder you mix up into a shake.

That shake reminds me of something someone once said about green, leafy vegetables: "That's what my food eats."

As for things I hate doing, a job has to be at the top of the list. I go to a place I don't wanna go, to be with other people who don't wanna be there, and do stuff somebody else wants me to do.

But even if I thought I could get away with not going to w*rk and still survive, I'm too honest to not go. It's my fair share of what we all gotta do to make it here on a broken earth.

Sometimes when I hate doing something, I just don't do it. This often works against me. I have lost almost half my teeth, and I'm just waiting to lose the rest of them, because I didn't brush them.

Don't blame my mother. She went above and beyond to get me to brush my teeth consistently. Ain't her fault.

That was my first thought. Eating lettuce only makes sense if you have no access to spinach.

doing dishes... ughh,
why, I don't know,
just maybe it's I'm on the taller side and have to bend my back to get in there and scrub, wash, sanitize, dry, put away and do it all again the next day some times that very evening, OK, I'm done ranting 🆗

Heh...

I've always said that when I grow up I'm going to have one bowl, one plate, one glass, one fork, one spoon, one butter knife, one steak knife, etc. and live out of the draining rack. No mountain of dishes, no putting dishes away.

I was the same way. Then I realized I may have guests. So I got a few plates, a set of cutlery, etc.

Heh...

I've always said that when I grow up I'm going to have one bowl, one plate, one glass, one fork, one spoon, one butter knife, one steak knife, etc. and live out of the draining rack. No mountain of dishes, no putting dishes away.

This is basically what I have on my draining rack and use regularly ( one large plate, one small plate, one bowl, one tall glass for cold drinks, one mug for coffee or tea, and maybe 3 of each untensil (spoon fork knife)), but I have some extras in the cupboards for guests.

She tends to get a little too aggressive when we have the rooftop-to-trampoline slam dunk competitions.

She always wins. 😪

(Plus she always talks a lot of trash...it gets kinda old)

Well confession time, how about having to forgive my brother who robbed me of an inheritance of $200,000 plus hoarding all the family keepsakes. That takes a lot of spiritual muscle exercising, lol. Oh gee, I hold my peace to be obedient to God all the while battling my mouth from royally cussing him out. But thanks God you want us to be like You:)!
