I dont use fb on phone or ipad or at work.
the thing with fb is it really wants to pull all your data. I dont post pics on there to share with everyone, especially with people on it unless its a closed group.

I just feel abit uncomfortable if people take pics of me, then share them without my permission. or even if they do.
They might have said is it ok to take a pic of you, but it might not be a good pic, and then once youve put it on a newsfeed or something it can go anywhere.

Mums tend to do that with their children and yea its cute, but I think with child perverts hanging round online you cant be too careful. If your child is say extremely photogenic they may become a target.
I dont know if instagrammers and pinterest have the same issues.

if you do dump it you can always keep in touch with people by email or txt. Theres probably a better group chat being dveloped aside from zoom, though nobodys really shared anything better. CC i just use the forums not the chat. I dont think it has video capabilities.
Webex is pretty good too.

I deleted my facebook right after the 2016 elections. Was too tired of watching the people I'd known for the last 4 years prior magically go insane in their screeching against Trump and believing the MSM lies and slander.

It was like watching a mass level of demonic possession. Honesty, truth, and all good morals out the window. All while they sat their and pretended to be good people.

I deactivated Facebook, but don't think I will delete at least for now as I have some important contacts there. I haven't looked at Facebook in almost a month! I'm searching now for a site to share my photos, a site that is not associated with Big Tech. Any suggestions?

Thanks. I have heard of mewe but don't know much about it. I hope it allows people to share albums to those who are not on mewe.

I'm going to check out MeWe in few days. A new social media site might be a good change.

cant stand it when ppl talk politics on FB

right or left. I really dont care if you support this or that or dont support whoever. If I wanted to protest or talk about politics I would go to their offices and write a letter directly to them not pour out fan/hate mail on FB.

if you write a letter or email a politican, they have to answer anyway. They are not gonna be checking ten million inane comments on FB.

Well I have not logged into Facebook for over 2 months, and I'm starting to wonder how some people are doing. But, I am not going to sign in. I'm spending more time here as a result.

good one indiangirl

you can always email or txt them to find out anyway. A bit more personal since your msg isnt posted to everyone either.

I had this christian writing group friend who is so old school she doesnt have email. So what she does is write a letter and photocopy it and send it to everyone she knows, and its usually a page long of everything shes been up to.
I cant imagine her postage stamp bills since its gone up so much to send a letter.

I dont do the same back as I dont think ppl are that interested in my news about myself lol. I just do all staff mailing list about the library but I dont write or talk about myself. If people REALLY want to know they can read my diary lol. (maybe after I die)

I highly recommend Telegram. It is not "governed" by someone like Zuckerberg.

I am considering deleting Facebook. My best friends have either deleted Facebook or are inactive. So it looks like I'm peeking into the lives of people I'm not close to any longer. I do not post often but when I do, people do not comment or "like" my posts. The people who wish me Happy Birthday are not close but I do like the messages.

Anyone regret deleting Facebook?

While I do not keep in touch with many people there I would like to know how certain people are doing. I also have a few people there where we parted in a bad way, but sometimes I have some hope we may reconnect, however because of the way life is we probably will not. I will also lose touch with distant relatives, I do not have their contact info otherwise.

I want to delete so I can "move on" but also feel I'm cutting off people for good. One of my high school best friends connected with me after years on FB this summer; she would have been unable to otherwise. Regardless we are not close anymore.
I suggest you go on GAB and email your friends and family to do the same and you will be all set!

I have deleted it and felt much better. All my friends stop using and it wouldn't show any activity in my news feed. I got rid of fb for good.

Kudos! How did you manage it? I would like to eradicate it also.

I had gotten a new phone and never bothered to download or look at Facebook...I spammed all the notifications by email...
And eventually I stopped getting them completely.

Facebook is evil and does evil, delete it.
