Hi throughfaith and guojing,

There is one Gospel and one people of God.

Jesus

46 He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47 and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. (Luke 24:46-48)

Peter

8 Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

39 This promise is to you, to your children, and to those far awayall who have been called by the Lord our God.”

40 Then Peter continued preaching for a long time, strongly urging all his listeners, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation!”

Paul

21 I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.

In Acts 2 Peter is addressing the people to whom he was talking to because that is were he was standing.. (Judea (The good news spreads from Judea out to the whole world)). Peters message is indeed the gospel. Notice Peter says and all those who are far off..this implies gentile inclusion. The nation of Israel failed in being a light to the nations... Now the Light has appeared:

John 1 :9-13

9 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. 11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. 12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

Well you asked what it meant if that gospel of the kingdom was preached and I have given you the answer from scripture.

we can look at the greek text. And see how a word is written.

When we see repent is second person plural, While be baptized is third person singular. We can determine that these two words are not related.

In the english, it would say repent, and let "THEM" be baptized.

Considering the english is missing this important fact. It can not be trusted in this passage
Do you do this with all the bible , or just the parts that clash with what you believe? Because so far you've offered no context as to why you think the Kjv translators messed up .

I do it with any questionable text like we all should

Funny though. You can’t show how I am wrong or counter what is said. You just ask silly questions
once again. Just shows me something about you

Hi guoujing,

You have given scripture, but we disagree on it's meaning. Your answer may not be correct? My answer may not be correct. But what does the whole bible bible say?

Using your terminology - in any given dispensation there has been only one people of God. That's biblical. To say there are two distinct peoples of God is I believe to misread scripture. To say Paul taught a different gospel than that of Jesus and the other Apostles is unbiblical therefore not a system of thought for Christians and is to be rejected.

So instead of using other scripture, you could disagree and explain how you would understand the scripture I used.

For example, what do you think peter meant when he spoke acts 3:19-21 to Israel?

Otherwise, this will be playing ping pong with scripture

Yes I realise it bothers you when someone disagrees with you that you think it must be a moral failure on my behalf ,rather than realising that its the bible that is where I'm getting my understanding from . I've already posted a long thread on here on Acts 2.38 being toward Israel before and addressed this topic in detail many times on here already . Peter is Talking to Israel and its what they must DO for there rejection and them killing Jesus . This context could not be any clearer . It doesn't say in any translation " what must i do to be SAVED " Compare with Jailer his question and the response is radically different in Acts 16 .30

"I'm right & you're wrong!" "No, you're wrong & I'm right!"

You can't believe there's a correct side in a discussion when their fruit betrays them.

Matt 7:16(NAS)You will [p]know them by their fruits. [q]Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes, nor figs from thistles, are they? 17So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. 18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20So then, you will [r]know them by their fruits.

Yawn, I think we already established I could care less what you think. So the comment above is nonsense. I am saddened you are so insecure in your belief you have to attack anyone who disagrees with you

And? So since you posted it I am just supposed to take it as gospel truth?

As I just PROVED, the word repent and baptize are in the rules of language not together. One is 2nd person plural. Which even in english is said to everyone (all of you) . The other is 3rd person singular. Which again even in English is speaking to individuals other than the speaker. (those of you, or them)

So it does not matter WHO it is written too. We STILL MUST conform what is written based on the rules of language

again, Peter literally said repent. and let them be baptized.

And you continue to ignore this and will not even respond to it. and want to point me to some thread of yours??

If you can not show you have a grasp of the rules of language, I can not for even a second think you can grasp what is really being said.

Let's see .
Then Peter said unto them, repent , and BE BAPTISED every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall RECIEVE the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 2:38 is giving instructions to Old Testament Jews, under the law, on what to do in view of the fact that they have killed their divinely chosen ruler. There isn’t a Jew present who eats lobster, clams, pork, or catfish, and you couldn’t find an uncircumcised man in the bunch with an X-ray machine.

Let me guess just like a Campbellite you think it should read :
1. Repent 2. Believe 3. Confess 4. Be baptized. ?

Why would peter say " let them be baptised ? "
Because they received remission of sin. And because Jesus told them to go to the WORLD to make disciples. he told them to baptize those who were disciples.

I am surprised you did not know this.

Actually, That is the english translation.

If the greek does not fit, it does not fit. No matter how hard you want it to.

The jew was no longer under law The law was fullfilled the moment Jesus said it is finished.

Your dual gospel issue is blasphemy

Or maybe you humble yourself and you can look to the greek, and see Peter literally said this

Repent, and you shall recieve the gift of the holy spirit. And let every one of you (who repented) be baptized, because you have recieved remission of sin

the first phrase is all 2nd person plural

The second phrase is all 3rd person singular. hence the words fit together

One must remember, the people who interpreted this word at the time believed baptism was required to be saved. So they interpreted it to fit their belief system. Thats why you shoudl trust NO interpretation. But to test every spirit
