Filipinos have an interjection "Naku!,'' Ay, naku! or 'Naku po).' I understand it to be the shortened form of My mother (Ina or Inay ko) or My child (Anak ko). Could mean Oh dear, Oh my, Yikes.. often to express annoyance or resignation, but also surprise or excitement as when presenting something novel or different. The expression with the po shows respect, as when used with the elderly=).
