What do you expect from New Age hypocrite Oprah? It is simply amazing how so many gullible women got sucked into her show and her ideology. Now she is playing the race card for all its worth, and no one is challenging her.
I watched Oprah from time to time in her early days. But the day she called out a Christian that said they were against homosexuality, I was done. Looking back from where I am now, I wouldn't have watched her in the early days. I watch the news and hardly anything else now days. Hollywood has nothing to offer me.

Yep, the kneeling brought it to a crossroad. My hubby wasn't a sports nut, but enjoyed basketball and football. He finally turned it off, said he can't support it.

In order to express who God is(Holiness, Truth, Love, and Justice), He must punish sin. As Christians living in America today, we should not be surprised that the sins spewing out of this country makes God angry. To deny how angry it makes Him, is to deny the necessity of Christ's work on the cross for the sins of humanity. God's wrath toward the sins of America is being revealed to the entire world. In the book of Romans, the first chapter, we can see how our Lord "gives up" a nation who continually lives in sin and does not repent. This wrath that is vented toward the unrepented sins of America is not of eternal judgement, nor is it the wrath of the great tribulation. Its the wrath of the present revelation of God's righteousness. America has "held the truth in unrighteousness." This means, America has received the truth of God's Word, but has yielded to unrighteousness. Is God giving America up?

Romans 1:17 "For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: As it is written, the just shall live by faith." Righteousness is God's essential attribute. To those who practice God's righteousness Paul says, "The just shall live by faith." We as a nation should remember that God is our source of provision and that everything we have or ever will have is ultimately from Him.

Romans 1:18 "For the wrath of God is revealed from Heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness." 1. "ungodliness", is the failure of spiritual discernment. 2. "unrighteousness", is the failure of the moral lives of people and how they treat each other. America has failed in both of these.

America has "held the truth", in God's word, but now the wrath of God is being revealed. Its not eternal wrath because that would be final judgement into the lake of fire. Satan and his followers have deceived so many, not only in this country but the entire world. America has abandoned the truth for so long now that it seems as though God is turning the country over to its sinful desires.

"God gave them up" No one will be able to stand before God and have an excuse as to why they didn't believe. Everyone is accountable to Him. In Romans 1:24-32, Paul tells us three times that "God gave them up." When a nation has been given ample amounts of evidence of God and His nature, He then expresses His wrath and justification by allowing those to be consumed with the desire to sin, having a "reprobate mind".

Romans 1:21 "when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations and their foolish heart was darkened." It seems with each year that passes by, America is acknowledging God less and dishonoring Him more. This nation's heart has become dark, that it cannot reason correctly or give thanks to almighty God.

Romans 1:26-27 "for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: Also the men leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was due." These behaviors and many more are exactly what we see in our country today. Its the opposite of the natural harmony of God's moral laws. America has abandoned self-control, is driven by lust, and participates in sexually impure acts.

Significant dates attributed to God's wrath:
1963..........The Supreme Court ruled that Bible readings and prayer in public schools were unconstitutional.
1965..........Immigration and Nationality Act permitted more Muslim, Buddhist, and Hindu immigrants into the U.S. changing the religious landscape of the country.
1971..........Sojourners magazine was founded, which promoted a greater prominence of liberal Christian views.
1973..........Supreme Court ruled to legalize abortion.
1980..........Marjorie Matthews was elected first female Bishop of any mainline Christian Church and pioneered the 80's for future women pastors.
1988..........biological fathers had no right to stop the pregnant mother from murdering his child.
1990's.........religious nonaffiliation in America started rising.
2015..........legalized same sex marriage
2016..........state and private institutions had to allow transgender students to use restrooms according to their gender identity.

Ephesians 5:6-7 "Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. But not ye therefore partakers with them." We became targets the day we believed and accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. There will be constant temptations and solicitations to evil, therefore believers must always be proving or discerning WHAT IS and WHAT IS NOT acceptable to the Lord.

Final thoughts
America is the greatest country in the world. Examining America more closely in areas such as Technology, Biology, Agriculture, etc., it can be argued that the United States is still the best in the world. The attributes that contributed to God's wrath and "giving America up", is far more than the events that happened on specific dates. It seems as though God has allowed America "free reign" expressing sin unchecked, which results in the natural system of cause and effect. America, it would appear, has been portrayed as a nation who has progressively been pushing God further and further away. God has been expressing His wrath by allowing this nation the things it wants and condemning those to suffer the painful consequences that came with it. Because America hasn't given the honor God deserves, He has let America do what it wants, to dishonor itself and being "given up" to those sinful desires.
it’s that America has been giving up on God for a long time things like Madylyn Murray ohiare and the American atheists have been cutting away at American ties to the doctrine of Christ for many years

removing God from schools is where it began to really become bad CB I’m seen learn what they are taught the Bible talks about raising them up in Gods word and they will always return I think the opposite is also true of they are taught things not of God young it becomes more difficult for them to believe later

the American atheists represent a pretty small number of people but they have for years through the aclu been cutting away all things tied to God in this country thier current target is in God we trust being on the money the way things are going I’m expecting that to happen sometime relatively soon with this wierd whole world we’re in

I think God has never given up on any person who turned to him but many have turned away from God and in the end he is fully respectful of our free will so ha has been warning us forever and telling us to believe him and live

nations never stand strong when God builds then up and then they forsake him I think America is on that position

Sports are for children to learn to play by rules and structure, and then for folks to have fun and get exercise. Participation in grown men being paid exorbitant salaries to play a ball game is just a bridge too far. Then those spoiled grown children in large numbers commit crimes, and they are still idolized, it's absurd. People are willing to fight and kill and rob others and pay hundreds of dollars for cheaply made sweat shop/ slave labor made shoes. I can go into great detail how much damage and harm pro sports has done. From the shoes, to highschool athletics funding in public schools (which are a problem in and of themselves).

I want someone to answer this:

How would you describe military weapons being shot down from the sky 2000 years ago? Would you say "fire come down from Heaven on the earth"?

And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

I have science to aid in this endeavor, but 90% of the people on this site are afraid of it.
Well, I haven't seen any of your materials or thoughts on it...so I can't yay or nay you at the moment. But I will say that different approaches works for different people.

Science is not really my go to, but I have seen where people have made some pretty good points with it that do seem to actually back up the Bible. So this approach may work out for people who are into science.

I've not always felt they way about it, though. I have a friend who was always trying to tell me about science and the Bible. For a while I was really skeptical about it and wanted no part of it. Didn't even want to hear it or discuss with him, and it led to many arguments. But eventually I chilled with it because he did make some good points which may be interesting or helpful to others who are into science.

I also used to go on an atheist site, and talk about God and the Scripture. Those folks on there would try to destroy the Bible with science. I had a friend on there who was some type of scientist. I don't remember his exact title or field now, but he was really intelligent and knew all about science. We were friends so maybe he just felt sorry for me, but he would always back up my Bible verses with how they could also be true through science. The atheists there really hated that because he was smarter than they were and could use science against them and to back up the Bible. Funny thing is he said he was an atheist. I always told him he really wasn't an atheist and someday he would admit it and get saved....lol IDK, but hopefully he has or will get saved eventually.

Science never really added anything for me, though. The way I see it, is as long as people are not trying to use science to disprove God or scripture, or make some kind of doctrine out of it then it's ok and to each their own, I guess.

Right, I think people saw it as a harmless American indulgence. But it really wasn't. How many husbands were glued to their tv's ignoring their wives and childrens needs? Then suddenly women got in on it so they could spend time with their husbands. I told my husband before we married that I didn't mind him watching some sports. But I said "they don't come before family or church, period". I recall when I was still in ministry years ago we went to a church where they told us the pastor was away. We assumed it was for vacation. Nope, he was attending a hockey game, on a Sunday !! Couldn't believe it. smh Then we wonder why we're in the state we're in. Love the world too much.

I think I just figured out through science that God not only died for all sins ..but also all sins we could have chosen to do.

Even those who "honor" the Lord with their mouths, they don't seem to ever make the whole confession. Or they will add some caveat or some explanation that waters it down. They just can't take a hard stand. How it seems to me, they muddy up the waters.
This is really interesting to me. So thanks. You should start a thread on this. It would be cool to see people's thoughts and experiences on it.

This reminds me of another saying that I've heard:

"Everybody wants to change the world, but nobody wants to change themselves."

We're here for a purpose, and it's not to just sit around and gripe about what others are or are not doing.

Philippians chapter 2

[13] For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
[14] Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
[15] That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
[16] Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
Awesome, that's another really good post. It's also refreshing to see some encouragement and reminders of what we as Christians can and should be doing to help the lost and make a change in the world. It is not often that I see this happen in threads like this.

I think you have delivered a good message here. I don't know if it has helped anyone else, but it sure has helped me...So thanks.

cos it costs billions to make a yacht, host the event, including restuaurants, bars and hotels and stuff and tv coverage so rich people can watch it.

If they wanted to host it out of their own pocket sure but no you need infrastructure and roads to do it all. You need to change laws to make it easier for people to build stuff, and guess who pays..the price...the taxpayer.

Globalism is the sin that got God so annoyed that He destroyed a tower, scattered people over the globe and confused their language. This is in part how God established nations in the first place. There is nothing wrong with nationalism. It is the antidote to globalism.

But what is a nation? A nation is NOT some arbitrary political boundary that demarcs whether you pay tax to this or that overlord. A nation is a group of people, bound together by race, religion, heritage, ethnicity. It's really just your very extended family. Nothing wrong with love for your family. Nothing at all.

Don't give in to satanic globalism. Don't listen to their whisperings. Libertarianism is a siren's call.
If your interpretation of that scripture is correct, why would God in all wisdom want to unite all as one in Christ.? just asking. We are perfected in one, the scripture says. In Christ, there is neither American nor Asian, neither European nor African etc.

Is nationalism an expression of God"s love or is born out of self centeredness?. definitely not the former in my opinion.
