A pastor is an Apostle, a prophet, and or a TEACHER, better know as an "overseer", which is the work. a pastor work, (the Spirit, God, Jesus) is clearly defined in Jeremiah 3:15 "And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding." and the ONLY pastor in the Church of the Lord Jesus is him. for he work through whom he appoints, (his body), and this is why the very first Gift on the the list in 1 Corinthians 12:8 - 11 is the Pastoral Gift, the work of it. scripture, 1 Corinthians 12:8 "For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;"

so it is the Lord JESUS in the one whom he give to his body as pastor. as said the work of the pastor is stated in Jeremiah 3:15.

as for Joel, it is the Spirit who empowers, "and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy".
H5012 נָבָא naba' (naw-ɓaw') v.
prophesy: to prophesy, i.e. speak (or sing) by inspiration (in prediction or simple discourse).
[a primitive root]
KJV: prophesy(-ing), make self a prophet.

and prophets, "PREACH", "TEACH", and "OVERSEE". 1 Corinthians 12:28 "And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues."

TEACHER:G1320 διδάσκαλος didaskalos (d̮iy-d̮a'-ska-los) n.
1. a teacher, an instructor.
2. (figuratively, with reverence) mentor (or even “master,” as in a voluntary choice with mutual care and consideration).
{genitive case or specially}
[from G1321]
KJV: doctor, master, teacher
Root(s): G1321

now Gill comentary, on 1 Corinthians 12:28, thirdly, teachers; the same with pastors, elders, and overseers; the ordinary ministers of the word, who have a gift of expounding the Scriptures; not by extraordinary revelation, but by the ordinary gift of the Spirit, in the use of means, as reading, meditation, and prayer; and whose work is to preach the word, administer ordinances, feed and govern particular churches, over whom they are set:

Paul who is an apostle, was a pastor, as well as a Prophet, teacher, and Preacher.

so pastor is a GIFT of God, and he, GOD, the Lord Jesus, the Spirit, has no respector of person.

PICJAG,

God is not a God of confusion ...women are to prophesy
We agree, God is not the author of confusion, that's why Paul instructed women to be silent in the church below :giggle:

Gods Words Are Very Clear On A Womans Role In The Church, And They Aren't Changing Anytime Soon.

Silence, Subjection, Obedience

(It Is A Shame For Women To Speak In The Church)

1 Timothy 2:11-14KJV
11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

1 Corinthians 14:33-35KJV
33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.
35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

Hey :) were going with what the Bible says..ok wise. How were women treated in Christs/Pauls day? We can listen to I think its "One for Israel" and how Rabbis talked and think about women today, it was not nice at all. There are times in the word where we need to understand what was happening right then. Like there is no more sacrifice for sin. Now what was going on right then and to whom was the Holy Spirit by Paul talking to? Take it for just what is written.. holy Jesus.. were all in trouble.

What was going on was some Jewish people that were saved when they sinned would try to go back and offering something for that sin. He was telling them ...there is no more sacrifice for that sin. Christ can not die again. So with women back then they were not part of religious or political and many other things. Back then they were not that educated. Head on to Iran and see how it has not changed for thousands of years. GOD had no hand in that. So women can't preach yet God did call some as Prophets.

May I in love say lets watch how we speak on things about the sweet holy Spirit. Verses we can take for exactly what they say is "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

There is no if ands or buts about that. Its strange at what we choose to believe. We shall (will accompany) in the name of me.. cast out demons....we can stop right there. Are we/you doing this? What all demons that can't die all gone now? Those new tongues again will accompany those having to believe.

See another key word here "believe". If you doubt you have nothing to worry about you will never see these things. Don't take my word for it ..its written. So back to women preaching.. I am old enough to know this has been debated longer then I have been alive so nothing whatsoever is going to happen or change after this thread. Me? I will not get in His way. I not their God I have not been given any authority over them so I say nothing. Not me/man they have to please but the GREAT I AM!

I don't any more but I can break more verses down be it Hebrew Greek and then unlike hmm some few most give BOTH sides to this lol debate? I truly can see both sides here. In the end I have no say. Not once has He asked for my advice.. which HELLO GOD is very wise right? HAHA Praise GOD glory to JESUS for all those He calls...the few that answer that call.
I appreciate your thoughts. I am having a problem trying to grasp how they relate to the thread.

As far as women in the Old Test/New Test, the truth is that women were NOT thought of very well at all.

Women in those days were not educated which is why Paul said that if you want to know things...ask your husband.

As stated, you follow the Baptist false teaching that the sign gifts died with the Apostles, (Wrong)

I have shared my testimony with the forum several times, and I dont beg for approval

All gifts of the Spirit are alive today, the Baptist have this one wrong

In Love
Now we can certinly talk about that here or you can start a thread on it and let me know and I will be glad to join in.

But to your comment, it is Not so my friend. I belong to a Baptist church.

However I FOLLOW what the BIBLE says and NOT what the SBC says. I am responsible to God and not to any man.

1 Corinthians 13:8-10 says clearly............
"Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away."

I will be glad and honored to talk about the "Sign Gifts" of MArk 16 with you, or the Apostles work and even who spoke in tongues at Pentecost with you.

I will be just as honored to speak with you concerning the Greek word "TELEIOS" or when the "Perfect Comes" and what is that PERFECT.

But to believe anyone has the sign gifts today is YOU wanting to have them.....not YOU being commissioned by Christ to have them.

Again I ask................
YOU said YOU speak in tongues and I am not asking you if you are Baptist or Pentecostal but I am asking you - who “speak in tongues”....... are YOU then suggesting that the Roman Catholics, who “speak in tongues” have been ‘guided into all the truth,’ by the Holy Spirit, as YOU as a Protestant have been????????

You see, you can not have it both ways. BY YOUR own words, since YOU speak in tongues and Roman Catholics speak in tongues then YOU BOTH have been guided into ALL TRUTH. That means YOU agree with the RCC teachings of Mary as the Co-Redeemer, The Immaculate Conception of Mary, The Assumption of Mary, Purgatory, the Rosary and about 30 more NON-BIBLICAL RCC false teachings.

Again...YOU can not have it both ways!

If modern-day “speaking in tongues” is truly, the same as the first century, and it is evidence, proof that a person has Holy Spirit; then, all of the above groups I mentioned would equally have to be the true path to God.

You probably had not considered that but now that YOU know......what is your opinion?????????

who are you speaking to?

I received the gift of tongues, that you claim is gibberish 43 years ago while praying in my room, asked and received, and its exactly the same today

Sorta like telling the blind man that was healed by Jesus Christ, that he really was seeing.

Your claim of gibberish, is Gods Holy Spirit making intercession, groaning which cant be uttered, in accordance to God's will."

THAT is who I was responding to.

Was Timothy an overseer?
The term “pastoral epistles” is used to designate the three epistles or letters addressed to Timothy and Titus (1 and 2 Timothy, and Titus). Though addressed to individuals, they are not limited to personal and private communications.

This term is inaccurate in the sense that Timothy and Titus were not pastor types in the present day sense of the term.
a) They were official representatives of the Apostle Paul whom he dispatched to various places or churches like Ephesus and Crete to act in an official capacity to deal with special situations and meet special needs.

b) Timothy and Titus undoubtedly possessed the gifts needed for pastoral ministry, and while there was an element of pastoral care in what they did.

Except, as I think I said earlier, when they are doing the Lord's work by teaching the children. You know, the stuff that most men are really not terribly good at.

Exactly. And that's all one needs to know. Those who oppose this are in their PRIDE.
All you have to do is look at the fruit of female leadership to see the error

But then again
Some people LOVE the Dark so much they refuse to see

Yes, the leadership of Deborah was so destructive to Israel. The leadership of Timothy's mother and grandmother made him useless to Paul. The leadership of Priscilla rendered Apollos completely ineffective. That chosen lady of whom John wrote? Chloe? Phoebe? Junia? Heretics all.

Let's look at the average "success rate" of male leaders in Scripture. One in five? Maybe?

All you have to do is consider the evidence fairly and rationally, instead of making blanket statements that are easily refuted.
