Depends on the type of psychology I guess

Cognitive behavioural therapy and dialectical behavioural therapy for example have helped many

I see nothing wrong with much of today's psychology which is science based
Science based?
Funny, the theories of the different schools of thought kept changing during my four years.

There is poverty in the US though. It's a global issue
There will always be the poor. It is not God's doing. Being "poor" is the curse of the law: duet: 28.

We don't or shouldn't form all our doctrine from isolated verses, but rather from ALL scriptures. I looked up every scripture I could find in the bible about healing, and health.

Isaiah 53 talks about how Jesus carried our sins but it also tells us He carried our sicknesses. Then Matthew 8:17 proves Isaiah was talking about physical healing.
I see, yep I understand your perspective, because I had used the exact same verses you used, Isa 53 and Matthew 8:17 once in this very forum with another participant years ago, Angelo5310 I think was her forum name. We had this intense debate over physical healing and my viewpoint then was very much like yours now.

Ultimately, I think once a Christian from the WOF doctrine starts to adopt a dispensationalist view of scripture, only then is when the process of repentance (change of mind) begins, regarding healing from physical diseases while still on this Earth.

Thanks for sharing.

James 2:5 KJV - "Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?"

Wow, those whom God has chosen, you say are cursed. Scary.

Revelation 3:17 NKJV - "Because you say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing'--and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked."

That is not what I said. The truth is, if one is not under the blessing of the law, they are under the curse of the Law. I cannot find a third alternative.

I have read both and I like the blessing of the Law best.
By the way, Jesus freed all who believe in Him from the curse of the law.

I don't say I have need of nothing. I knew long again I needed Jesus!

The main problem with this popular WOF doctrine is this:

The Law was only given to the nation Israel. It promises physical blessings if they obey, and physical curses if they don't.

For us in the Body of Christ, Paul never promised us any physical blessings when we believe 1 Cor 15:1-4. But Paul promised to us all spiritual blessings in the heavenly places in Christ (Ephesians 1:3).

That is in-line with that he taught us regarding our physical sufferings on Earth, whether is it diseases or material poverty, in Romans 8:18-25 as well as 2 Cor 4:17-18.

Now, there are some ways in which WOF preachers try to overcome this lack of teaching in Paul and convince their congregation that Paul agrees with them, that the Deut 28 physical blessings are for them.

The most popular method is using this verse from Paul is 2 Cor 1:20 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God.

Thus, they use this verse to conclude that, when we look at Deut 28, we can believe that Christ died on the cross so that ALL the promises made to Israel, those physical blessings are ours to claim, and we need not fear the physical curses because the cross took them all.

I believe you also believe in that method?

The second method, which was taught by my senior pastor in the WOF church I currently attend, is that "everything physical first comes from spiritual".

Thus he uses Ephesians 1:3 and made the clever link that, because Paul said we are blessed with every spiritual blessings in Christ, it is natural to also expect the same physical blessings promised to Israel for us.

So far, I have yet to hear another WOF pastor using that but I can imagine many of them do that too.

The entire chapter of Deut. 28 is about the blessing of the law and the curse of the law.
I thought it was about the Control and Power of God. The entire chapter revolves around the fact that God is controlling all events. All accountings and recountings demonstrate the controlling nature of God so as to fulfill His Mysterious Plan. Deut 28 is an accounting of what is to come.

Since this is true...

Galatians 3:22 (KJV) But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

There is only One who is under the blessing of the law and those who place their faith in him.

they are under the curse of the Law
If a person is under the curse of the Law, that Law only exists because the ground (all of creation) had become cursed. If creation hadn't become cursed through the unholy work of Adam and Eve, no Law would have been given. That said, things were as they were and are as they are because of the Lord's Eternal Plan.

Ephesians 3:10-11 NLT - "God's purpose in all this was to use the church to display his wisdom in its rich variety to all the unseen rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. 11 This was his eternal plan, which he carried out through Christ Jesus our Lord."
