I don't usually click on the articles that pop up when I sign into my Yahoo Messenger, but I had to when I saw the title of this article.

Psychology Today Apologizes for 'Black Women Less Attractive' Post - Yahoo! News

Now, while I agree that the article should have been pulled and the data scrutinized, I must ask why it was published in the first place. Articles cross many paths before they are actually placed into a magazine and put on display for the world to see. Why is it that Psychology Today waited until the article was met with such outrage to do anything about it? Why was it published in the first place? Hmmmmmmmmmm.

Its just another sign of the times. Big successful entities like Psychology Today couldn't care less what people think. They only act when the backlash is so great that it becomes impossible to ignore. I wonder how many of the protestors threatened to cancel their subscriptions.

Controversy sells magazines no matter who gets hurt. Yet another reason greed is so sinful. What a stupid article...

Magazines lie to all of us. Even the beauties they put on the front covers are retouched, yet millions of young ladies damage their health trying to look like that.

I didnt see or hear about that article but I was actually thinking about this the other day. I am black but I attend a predominantely white church. I have visited many churches and have noticed the oevrwhelming amount of single black women compares to all other women and even black men. It is sad really. I don't know if people truely find us unattractive or if they believe stereotypes about us. But its very sad that these women are just as awsome and God loving and fearing as their white counterparts but are so overlookked. You would think it wouldnt happen as much in the church, but it does.

I am from Brazil and believe men really do prefer the brown girls!!! specially because they got more beautiful body than the white!!
i think that to think the white girl are more attractive is a consequence of Hitler mind... the blame is all him... specially in my country
even if the brown (because its a mix of colors) are more beautiful, at TV we always see the "euro type' i mean, blond and blue eye people... sad.

I've never judged on looks though lifestyle/culture does play a big part in dating for me. Like if you arent interested in the same music, movies, books, activities, then things wont work out. Sadly this does somewhat end up dividing along lines of race, but im open to any race that fits my other criteria lol.

Seaco, where have you been. Its been a while.

I think what she meant was that when you decide that one race is more beautiful than another its probably a superiority complex that makes you feel that way.

But I could be wrong.

I agree with her to an extent. I think that there are reasons that you find or dont find certain people attractive but sometimes there are those who decide that all or most people of an ethnic group are unattractive. To me that has deeper psychologocal roots.

I agree with you, Amber. Anytime someone has an issue with anyone because of appearance, it's all about issues THAT person has, not the appearance of the other people. People aren't born with prejudices. I'm sure, as a teacher, you see children of all ethnicities playing together just fine...then grownups mess it up with their hate. It's heartbreaking and foolish.

Well I happen to be more attracted to caucasian females. So that makes me like Hitler? That doesn't make very much sense...

No I dont think thats what either of us meant. Many people are more attracted to their own race but I think that when you decide that a group of people are not attractive, thats when it is hatred or bigotry.

We kinda talked about this in another thread recently and I stated that I am a lighter skin black woman and am mostly attracted to fairer skin black men or tanned hispanic men. That doesnt make me a Black Hitler. But If I were to say that white people are "ugly" then that would be racist.
