We need to properly harmonize scripture with scripture before reaching our conclusion on doctrine..
no brother we simply need to believe and come to him as children and learn from God and avoid all
Of the worldly thinking that’s out there that tries to confuse us like Satan always has done .
the gospel is. Ot about intellectual harmony or harmonizing anything at all it’s about simple belief in Jesus Christ , as being the one and only that God has ever sent to make his offer of eternal redemption and salvation from the curse upon the world of sin and death.
if a believer comes and believes Jesus like scripture has said from the beginning they can have everything he promises them if they believe him
if we take what he says , and then resefone it all a yes just proof that we can’t repent and believe the gospel. There’s nothing to harmonize jesus preached eternal Life and said anyone who believes him will never be condemned and those who reject him and refuse his words will
Be condemned.
your whole thought process of “ we need to figure out what it really
Means by taking it out of salvation is incorrect so I don’t think we will find agreement honestly
I’m looking at it like Jesus said to look at it and you are explaining that’s not the right way to take it . That would never reconcile .
So I appreciate the time for conversation but I wouod Leave it where I began. God sent Jesus to teach us about salvation and eternal life and said anyone who hears and believes his word will be saved
part of his words tell us what our role is the first thing is to believe that baptism is for remission of sins so that we can have Gods pledge of a good conscience and know that we aren’t standing before him condemned , our sins have all been remitted
we can pretend they are remitted another way that we figure out , but it’s a lack of faith
What Jesus said will forever be true and will not fail to accomplish what he said or would so if we want our sins remitted all we have to do is believe what he said and also what he did when he became a
Man even he was baptized for the removal of the flesh
I think that you are trying to figure out another path to salvation that comes after the one Jesus laid out for us . and I believe the one Jesus laid out and said would never change . I’m stuck on the thkngs jesus said and taught us to do , e things oaul And the apostles all taught and did
like , believing the gospel and being baptized for remission of sins I think that’s the way to believe it and then do it because of course he tells us what it’s value is . Like Abraham “ leave your country and go where I’ll show you later and I will bless you and make your name great in all the earth “
anraham Had to believe that
what God told him to do and what would be the result to have faith
“
By faith Abraham, when he was
called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.”
Hebrews 11:8 KJV
or Noah he had robbelieve what God told him about the flood and building the ark to have faith to
Move him to be saved
“
By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house;
by the which he condemned the world, and
became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.”
Hebrews 11:7 KJV
We have to believe that what God said is true and will accomplish what he said it will or we can never have any saving faith like Noah and Abraham all they didnwas believed what God told them , thier actions were a result of that belief
if anyone acknowledges that you have sinned in your life and need remission of your sins before God , of we want to
Know what God said about it we have to believe what Jesus said about it and not create alternative routes
Abraham could have said I believe lord but I’m busy with my family here I just built a nice house so I think I’ll stay at home
but that wouldn’t be faith because of Abraham believes the promise he knew the instruction was the path to accomplish the blessing
Noah knew God was no liar so when he told him about the flood , he didn’t question whether the flood was coming . And when he instructed him to make an ark Noah didn’t then want an effortless salvation and complain or look for a bot to steal he just believed if he did what God said , salvstion would happen as God said Noah had faith so this is a word of faith for anyone who believes
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and
preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
Mark 16:15-16
it’s much simpler than you wre
Making it we have to and only have to accept and believe the gospel Jesus Christ preached and also of course we believe he does and rose the two are not separate your testing to make the blood of the covenant seperate from the word of the covenant
repentance and faith go hand in hand works and faith go hand in hand
saved by faith not works means you have to believe what God said to have faith and be saved the works you are cutting out
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
Ephesians 2:8-10 KJV
you are sort of inventing an argument that to get baptized is an in necassary work that doesn’t have anything to do with belief
It’s actually walking by faith hearing and believing what God said baptism is for and doing those works of faith that result from belief the law has nothing to do with the New Testament it’s based upon the self works , faith has works they come when you believe the doctrine that teaches us what to do
What Paul said would have no meaning without what Jesus preached and specifically the subject of baptism Paul could never have taught all he does about its meaning to us if it wasn’t established beforehand
