These ladies are beautiful, but you do make a good point, Amber, it does seem that many of the thirty named here are fairer skinned than the other ladies:

BHM: The 30 Most Beautiful Black Women in History - essence.com

Maybe there's a reason that the most beautifully romantic writings in the scriptures are about a woman of color, huh? :) God certainly knows beauty when He sees it.
Ehhh Im going to say Essence magazine did a terrible job. It left of girls like Rihanna, Gabrielle Union, Mya, Leona Lewis, i dont even remember Alicia Keys or Tyra Banks on there.

Racism is the most ignorant concept on the planet. To hate someone across the street because their outer layer of skin is a different color? How stupid is that? Get to know me, THEN hate me...lol

I can imagine the world without Puce or Chartruese. I mean really, whats up with those two?

Puce and Chartreuse are ambiguous, perplexing, and controversial........... But ..... they are part of The United Colors........ of Benetton. I love them too.

 Pssssssssst.....You are endangering your man card by knowing those colors exist. According to the guys in these threads there are only 8 colors that men are permitted to know, all of which they learned in kindergarten. :D We promise not to tell on you.

Ok I learned about Puce reading a book as a kid called Santa Claus based on some movie that had dudley moore in it and there were puce and green outfits or lollipops. Chartruese was an answer on a crossword puzzle the other week. Thank you very much lol. ;)

I dont understand why etnicity or skin color is even an issue.. Acts 17:26 says that God created all humans of ONE blood. There are plenty of people who claim to be christian but are racist.

I think it has a lot to do with the film industry, hollywood and all I mean since recently everybody's idea of beauty was lewd marilyn munroe; betty grable you name...blond and porclelain skinned.......black women were the dumb looking maids and then we all have to consider slavery and the very real and dreadful scar it has left on all our minds.....physical slavery is over but in a place like jamaica where im from mental slavery reigns

I've been thinking about this for a long time, thanks for posting it hehe. I think the reasons why people find attractive certain races are culture and the media. The truth is that a person of one race/ethnicity usually looks for another person of the same race/etchnicity. For example, I live in San Diego, and here are lots of mexicans, and you would think heyy soo mexicans and americans mix a lot!....Not really,at least not her. I mean, they get along, but talking about romantic partners, mexicans usually stick to mexicans and americans with americans or other races.

Actually, I've observed that americans mate with other races easier than mexicans with other races , I don't know why, but I guess it is because of the roots of Mexico. Not because we are racists haha. Mexicans are not so used to see different races in Mexico.

In mexico there are only mexicans, there is not a diversity like here, so you date a mexican or you date a mexican! So...I guess that, when they come here, and see a bunch of other mexicans, they stick with the ones they match "easier". Of course it's not a rule, but I think some people prefer to stick to the same, a lot of times unconsciously. I think the area where you are living influences a lot too, there are some areas of all white, all latino, all asian, etc. so when a different person comes, he/she might look very different at what you they are used to see.

Me, personally, I find attractive well...latinos, americans and sometimes, african americans( I think it's because there have been more whites on TV throug history idk); but I still would have to consider their personal traits(not to shound shallow) because you can't say you like ALL latinos, or ALL americans, or ALL african americans, maybe there's an african american who is more attractive than an attractive american and so and so. And well, that was my particular case:) racism is different than just looking for "your type" and that IS wrong.

I recently watched a documentary on PBS called Black in Latin America. There was a segment about Blacks in Mexico. They have been there since the early 1500's and live in small villages as most of Mexico is rural. Unlike most other nations, Mexico, did not distinguish between black and other races so its a rare known fact that these people even exist.

What I find interesting about this whole thing though is there is a difference between how the more Indian Mexicans, who happen to be darker and the more Spanish looking Mexicans are percieved. So what is the rational behind ignoring race of one group (which has its positives and negatives) and treating another group poorly?

Wow, Amber! I'd never heard anything about this before. That's very cool! :)

San Antonio is home for me and it's much like kayem describes her locale regarding the separation of the races within the city itself, but much better on the military bases where there are many other ethnicities working together. Very sad...

I am a pale-faced Irish lady and I have a pale-faced little brother (haha), but I also had two stepbrothers and three stepsisters, and a couple of them have dark complexions from their native American heritage, and I witnessed on several occasions how badly they were treated by those with prejudices. One of my stepbrothers even received insults from a cousin regarding his marriage to a fair-haired woman with freckles. The cousin would praise God out of one side of his mouth and spew racial slurs out of the other side. It was disgusting.

Two of my best friends on the planet are a black man who is married to a white lady. They are a precious godly couple with a beautiful son who has been my son's best friend since they were toddlers. They have suffered more than any two people ever should for loving one another, but it has only formed a bond between them that no man can touch. :)

I didn't know you were from SA-town. I went to college just west of there.

Black in Latin America is an awsome series. You look at some of the other countries like Cuba or Brazil and think beause they are predominantly afro/native mix, then they probably don't have the issues we have in the U.S. but they do. Especially as far as the media portrays the beauty standard. Just turn on any Spanish TV station. Those shows are from all over Latin America but most of the people are more European looking. How is it even possible to have nearly all "white" casts on TV when most people in your country are carmel color?
