I think the current plan is to become Speaker of the House first in 2023.
For that to happen the Republicans would have to win the House in the mid-term election. At this point this appears likely. The majority party would control who gets elected to the Speaker position. Turns out. according to the constitution, that there is no requirement that you have to be a member of the House to get elected. In theory, anyone could get electric. Trump thought that this scenario is interesting. Personally, I don't see this happening. I do believe that the Republicans will win back the House though.

Doesn't strike me as his m.o., it would be too humbling for him to take that lower step. He is a proud man, but may-be ;)

Actually, this could happen if Trump could get the support of House Republicans. I believe, at the very least, that Pelosi is toast after the mid-terms. Even if the Democrats retain the House she still might not get a majority.

after all, it's been derailed enough.
but I'm just wondering something.
Do you ever get a song stuck in your head and you just don't know why?
I mean like something you haven't heard in years, but all of a sudden it is just stuck there and you can't STOP singing/humming/thinking it???
Yeah, I've got that going on right now......
some crazy song from the 80's

it comes and goes...........

"Karma karma karma karma
Karma chameleon...."

 can't figure out just how or why I got it stuck in my head, but it comes and goes...........
it comes and goes.

For once we have a perfect thread for lanolin to pop in and make a random statement.. and she is nowhere to be found.

I suppose this is something like never being able to find a policeman when you need one.

According to a Univ. Of Cincinnati study, the annoying songs most likely to "get stuck in your head" are:
YMCA by the Village People
Kenny Rogers The Gambler
The theme from Gilligan's Island
The Andy Griffith show theme song
And..if you're old enough to remember...The Macarena!
Yah!Yah! Yah

Oh I could add quite a number to that list out of the early '60's. lol
But one that was not annoying, and yet came to mind whenever I would take laps was the theme song to Chariots of Fire.

What would you say is the main reason threads get derailed or thrown off topic?
Or positively, what steps can a person take to avoid being the derailer?
Just ask? I THINK most don't want to but.. you see that one post and you DUH you just have to correct it lol.. no clue sorry... I don't think I helped.

Well that's on way to look at it, 'one person's derailment, is another person's correction'.
