In Scripture “horn” stands for power, and particularly for kingly power or kingdoms. But the “Little Horn” really means one who initially appears to be little, but eventually has tremendous power. And that is precisely what we learn about the Antichrist from the book of Daniel.

We first read about the Little Horn in Daniel 7:8, then in Daniel 8:9:
I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things. We see here that the Little Horn is actually a man with the “eyes of a man” but his mouth does not really speak great “things”. It speaks great blasphemies (as we will see later). He manages to utterly destroy three kingdoms and their rulers. They are “plucked up by the roots”. We shall see later where these kingdoms belong (among the ten kingdoms).

Then in Daniel 8:9 we read:
And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land. Here we see that this Little Horn is not really little, but “waxed exceeding great” and exerts his influence in every direction, including Israel (“the pleasant land”). Indeed, his power and influence is worldwide according to Revelation 13.

The context of the first passage is Daniel’s vision of the five empires (represented as beasts) which would dominate the Mediterranean region and impact Israel -- Babylon, Medo-Persia, Graeco-Macedonia, Rome, and lastly the empire of the Antichrist (which rises out of the ashes of Rome). Daniel sees the ten horns (kingdoms or nations) coming out of the Roman empire, although they will come much later during the reign of the Antichrist (the Little Horn). In Revelation we see that the Antichrist destroys all these nations and takes total control of the world. Again, in Daniel 8, those empires are also represented as beasts but a little differently. However the character and reign of the Little Horn is described in greater detail, and the meaning of the vision is also explained:

THE ANTICHRIST IS THE LITTLE HORN WHO BECOMES VERY GREAT
9 And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.

THE ANTICHRIST EVEN CHALLENGES THE HOLY ANGELS
10 And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down some of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them.

THE ANTICHRIST MAGNIFIES HIMSELF AGAINST CHRIST
11 Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down. [Note: in 2 Thessalonians 2 he calls himself “God”]

THE ANTICHRIST STOPS THE DAILY SACRIFICES IN THE FUTURE TEMPLE
12 And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.

THERE IS A SPECIFIC TIME LIMIT TO THIS DESECRATION
13 Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot? [Note: “the transgression of desolation” = the abomination of desolation]

THE LIMIT OF DESCERATION IS 2,300 DAYS (6 YEARS + ABOUT 5 MONTHS)
14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. [Note: This is about 7 months shy of a total of seven years, the 70th week of Daniel]

THE ANTICHRIST IS A KING OF FIERCE COUNTENANCE
23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up. [Note: this will be a ruthless man bent upon destroying humanity]

THE ANTICHRIST’S POWER COMES FROM SATAN
24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.

THE ANTICHRIST OPPOSES CHRIST WHILE BEING VERY CRAFTY
25And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand. [Note: the word antichristos (antichrist) means both one who opposes and one who comes instead of. So the Antichrist will be the ultimate False Messiah, claiming to be Christ and deceiving the world while he blasphemes God and Christ].

We should note the last clause of verse 25. “But he shall be broken without hand”. The Little Horn will be broken by God, and the reign of the Antichrist will be terminated by Christ Himself. “The Beast” will be cast into the Lake of Fire, along with his False Prophet: And the Beast was taken, and with him the False Prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the Beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. (Rev 19:20)

This is why the book of Revelation states that there are seven empires, five of which have fallen, one is (6th empire) which was Rome. The eight is the empire of the Antichrist and it belongs to the seventh. So exactly the identity of this seventh kingdom is unknown.. SOmeone may help me understand too

Having read this many times over the decades, I have come to believe all written while admitting I do not pretend to understand much.

Having said dthis, my thinking has been that all who believe our Savior will come to understanding when it is all in progress.

Our Father does not want any of us to be overwruoght for not knowing everything, and He loves us all the more when we simply trust Him only.

The eight is the empire of the Antichrist and it belongs to the seventh.
Revelation 17:11 says "belongs to the seven" not seventh. In Greek, "seventh" is ἑβδόμου (hebdomou), as in Revelation 10:7; "seven" is ἑπτά (hepta), as in Revelation 17:11.

In some sense the eighth head belongs with the other seven. What the relationship is exactly, I'm not sure.

The 7 kingdoms are 1. Egypt 2. Assyria 3. Babylon 4. Medo-Persia 5. Greece 6. Roman Empire 7. Ten horn kingdom which is the world split in to 10 sections with a leader in each section which they cover the whole world which is why the Bible says they shall devour the whole earth, tread it down, and break it in pieces.

The 8th king is the antichrist and is of the 7 kingdoms for the devil influenced those kingdoms.

The little horn, New Age Christ, comes from the 10 horns which comes from the Roman Empire for this is a Caucasian plan the new age movement.

People want to understand the end time the new age movement is the reason the world rebels against God.

The beast has 7 heads and 10 horns and in Revelation 12 the crowns are on the heads which is Satan in the spiritual realm deceiving people by the 7 kingdoms, and in chapter 13 the crowns are on the horns which is Satan in the natural realm as the New Age Christ deceiving people.

Daniel 7 he had a vision of 4 kingdoms that operated differently than each other which is the 4 ways of people, and even though they all went by the 4 ways one of those ways was their chief mode of operation with the other 3 a minor mode of operation whatever that ratio was.

1. Babylon, represents human religion, the occult, and when they lost the revelation of God they were known as the kingdom of man.

2. Medo-Persia, represents physical cruelty in war.

3. Greece, represents human wisdom.

4. Roman Empire, represents pushing for power, physical dominion.

10 horns come from them the world split in to 10 sections with a leader in each section, and the little horn, antichrist comes from the 10 horns.

The Roman Empire does not lose her dominion until Jesus puts them down.

The first 3 beasts will never have physical dominion again but their lives were prolonged for a season and time which means their ways are still on earth.

The 4 kingdoms have not fallen yet for their ways are still on earth.

In Daniel 2 the image of the stature is the same 4 kingdoms in chapter 7 and they do not fall and are no more until Jesus hits the 10 toes of the statue which is the same as the 10 horns.

All 4 kingdoms have not fallen yet and show up at the beast kingdom which is the kingdom of man in its entirety for all 4 kingdoms chief mode of operation is in that kingdom with no minor role of operation.

The 10 horn kingdom has the physical dominion with the ways of a Lion, Babylon, human religion, the occult, the kingdom of man, the ways of a Bear, Medo-Persia, physical cruelty in war to take away all people who oppose them, and the ways of a Leopard, Greece, human wisdom.

This kingdom believes in no personal God for the antichrist is of the occult and follows the new age movement and honors the God of forces as his higher power, the evolutionary process which they believe they will evolve to be spiritual.

Babylon will never have physical dominion again and the beast kingdom is referred to Babylon which is in spirit for the beast kingdom is of the occult, and the kingdom of man.

This is the little horn, the Antichrist:

Daniel 7:20 And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.

Daniel 7:21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;

Daniel 7:25 He shall speak pompous words against the Most High,
Shall persecute the saints of the Most High,
And shall intend to change times and law.

Then the saints shall be given into his hand

For a time and times and half a time.

The 10 horns represent the 10 kings or kingdoms into which pagan Rome was eventually split (Daniel 7:24). (These 10 kingdoms are the same as the 10 toes of the image described in Daniel 2:41–44.) Roving barbarian tribes swept in upon the Roman Empire and carved out land niches for their people. Seven of those 10 tribes developed into the countries of modern Western Europe, while three were “uprooted” and destroyed.

Visigoths - Spain Anglo-Saxons - England Franks - France Alemani - Germany Burgundians - Switzerland Lombards - Italy Suevi - Portugal Heruli - Rooted up Ostrogoths - Rooted up Vandals - Rooted up..

“I was considering the horns, and there was another horn, a little one, coming up among them, before whom three of the first horns were plucked out by the roots. And there, in this horn, were eyes like the eyes of a man, and a mouth speaking pompous words” (Daniel 7:8).
The “little horn” power appears next. We must identify it carefully because the biblical characteristics identify it as the antichrist of prophecy and history. There must be no mistake in making this identification.

God’s Word gives us nine characteristics of the antichrist in Daniel 7 so we can be certain of his identity. And even though some might find these truths painful, we must be honest enough to accept them as His revealed will.
The nine points.....

A. The little horn would come “up among them”—that is, from among the 10 horns that were the kingdoms of Western Europe (Daniel 7:8). So it would be a little kingdom somewhere in Western Europe.

B. It would have a man at its head who could speak for it (Daniel 7:8).

C. It would pluck out or uproot three kingdoms (Daniel 7:8).

D. It would be different from the other 10 kingdoms (Daniel 7:24).

E. It would make war with and persecute the saints (Daniel 7:21, 25).

F. It would emerge from the pagan Roman Empire—the fourth kingdom (Daniel 7:7, 8).

G. God’s people (the saints) would “be given into his hand” for “a time and times and half a time” (Daniel 7:25).

H. It would “speak great words against” or blaspheme God (Daniel 7:25 KJV). In Revelation 13:5, the Bible says the same power speaks “great things and blasphemies.”

I. It would “intend to change times and law” (Daniel 7:25).

Don’t forget—all these identification points come directly from the Bible. They are not some human opinion or speculation. Historians could tell you quickly what power is being described, because these points fit only one power-
= the papacy.

Hi Timothy!

There are two sets of kings mentioned in Revelation 17:

Seven Heads = Symbolically represents seven hills upon which the woman sits (Rome) and also a succession of seven kings:

These seven kings are not from different kingdoms, but are successors from the same kingdom, Rome. The reference that the angel gave to John when He says "one is" is most likely referring to Domitian who ruled from 81 to 96 AD, by whom John was banished to the Isle of Patmos.

Ten Horns = Ten future kings who rule concurrently with the beast and give their power to him:

"The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom but who for one hour will receive authority as kings , along with the beast. These kings have one purpose: to yield their power and authority to the beast."

Note: the verse above very confusing, as it appears to be saying that the ten kings are appointed as kings for only one hour, which is false. Basically what it is saying is that, they are appointed as kings within an hour, not for an hour. In further support of this, those ten kings continue as kings throughout the entire 3 1/2 years with the beast. If you think about it, there is not much that one could do as king for an hour, except go to lunch ;). So to recap, an hour is not the duration that they remain kings, but is how quickly they are appointed as kings.

Regarding these succession of kings and as you pointed out, from John's time frame five of those kings had come and gone. King number six was ruling at the time John was receiving this information. And king number seven had not yet come. Then an eighth king is introduce who belongs to the succession of the previous seven, which is that future angel who will come up out of the Abyss and will be the power behind the man of lawlessness, the antichrist. The succession of kings come out of Rome.

The ten horns represent ten future kings who will appointed in a short period of time, as kings along with the beast. They will give their power and authority to the beast and are the same as the feet with ten toes made of iron and partly baked clay described in Daniel. It appears that the world will be divided up into ten regions with one ruling each region on behalf of the beast, that eighth king comes from the succession of the seven.

The papacy fits all 9 points.
A. It came up among the 10 kingdoms of Western Europe.
The geographical location of the papal power is in Rome, Italy—in the heart of Western Europe.

B. It would have a man at its head who speaks for it.
The papacy meets this identifying mark because it does have one man at the head—the pope—who speaks for it.

C. Three kingdoms were plucked up to make way for the rise of the papacy.
The emperors of Western Europe were largely Catholic and supported the papacy. Three Arian kingdoms, however, did not—the Vandals, Heruli, and Ostrogoths. So the Catholic emperors decided they must be subdued or destroyed. Here is how theologian and historian Dr. Mervyn Maxwell describes the results in volume 1, page 129, of his book God Cares: “The Catholic emperor Zeno (474–491) arranged a treaty with the Ostrogoths in 487, which resulted in the eradication of the kingdom of the Arian Heruls in 493. And the Catholic emperor Justinian (527–565) exterminated the Arian Vandals in 534 and significantly broke the power of the Arian Ostrogoths in 538. Thus were Daniel’s three horns—the Heruls, the Vandals, and the Ostrogoths—‘plucked up by the roots.’ ” It is not difficult to recognize that the papacy fits this point.

D. It would be different from the other kingdoms.
The papacy clearly fits this description, as it came on the scene as a religious power and was different from the secular nature of the other 10 kingdoms.

E. It would make war with and persecute the saints.
That the church did persecute is a well-known fact, and the papacy admits doing so. Historians believe the church destroyed at least 50 million lives over matters of religious conviction. 1. “That the Church of Rome has shed more innocent blood than any other institution that has ever existed among mankind, will be questioned by no Protestant who has a competent knowledge of history.” (W. E. H. Lecky, History of the Rise and Influence of the Spirit of Rationalism in Europe, Volume 2, 40).
2. In The History of the Inquisition of Spain, D. Ivan Antonio Llorente provides these figures from the Spanish Inquisition alone: “31,912 persons were condemned and perished in the flames,” and 241,450 were “condemned to severe “penances.”

F. It would emerge from the fourth kingdom of iron—the pagan Roman Empire.
1.
“The mighty Catholic Church was little more than the Roman Empire baptized. ... The very capital of the old Roman Empire became the capital of the Christian empire. The office of Pontifex Maximus was continued in that of the pope.” (Alexander Clarence Flick, The Rise of the Medieval Church, 148, 149).
2. “Whatever Roman elements the barbarians and Arians left ... [came] under the protection of the Bishop of Rome, who was the chief person there after the emperor’s disappearance. ... The Roman church ... pushed itself into the place of the Roman World-Empire, of which it is the actual continuation.” (Adolf Harnack, What is Christianity? (New York: Putnam, second edition, revised, 1901), 269, 270).

G. God’s people (the saints) would “be given into his hand” for “a time and times and half a time.”
1.
A time is a year, times is two years, and half a time is half of a year. The Amplified Bible translates it: “Three and one-half years.”
Prophetic Time: Time = 1 year, Times = 2 years, ½ time = ½ year
2. This same time period is mentioned seven times in the books of Daniel and Revelation (Daniel 7:25; 12:7; Revelation 11:2, 3; 12:6, 14; 13:5): three times as a “time, times, and half a time”; twice as 42 months; and twice as 1,260 days. Based on the 30-day calendar used by the Jews, these time periods are all the same amount of time: 3½ years = 42 months = 1,260 days.
3. One prophetic day equals one literal year (Ezekiel 4:6; Numbers 14:34).
4. Thus, the little horn (antichrist) was to have power over the saints for 1,260 prophetic days; that is, 1,260 literal years.
5. The rule of the papacy began in ad 538, when the last of the three opposing Arian kingdoms was uprooted. Its rule continued until 1798 when Napoleon’s general, Berthier, took the pope captive with hopes of destroying both Pope Pius VI and the political power of the papacy. This period of time is an exact fulfillment of the 1,260-year prophecy. The blow was a deadly wound for the papacy, but that wound began to heal and continues healing today.

H. It would speak "pompous words" of blasphemy "against [God]."
Blasphemy has two definitions in Scripture:
1. Claiming to forgive sins (Luke 5:21).
2. Claiming to be God (John 10:33).
Does this point fit the papacy? Yes. Let’s first look at the evidence for it claiming to forgive sins, taken directly from its own literature: “Does the Priest truly forgive the sins, or does he only declare that they are remitted? The Priest does really and truly forgive the sins in virtue of the power given to him by Christ.” (Joseph Deharbe, S.J., A Complete Catechism of the Catholic Religion (New York: Schwartz, Kirwin & Fauss, 1924), 279). The papacy further undermines Jesus by setting up a system of confession to an earthly priest, thus bypassing Jesus, our High Priest (Hebrews 3:1; 8:1, 2) and only Mediator (1 Timothy 2:5). Next, consider the evidence for it claiming to be God: “We [the popes] hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty.” (Pope Leo XIII, Encyclical Letter “The Reunion of Christendom” (dated June 20, 1894) trans. in The Great Encyclical Letters of Pope Leo XIII (New York: Benziger, 1903), 304). Here is more evidence: “The pope is not only the representative of Jesus Christ, but he is Jesus Christ, Himself, hidden under the veil of flesh.” (Catholic National, July 1895.)

I. It would "intend to change times and law." Of course, no one can really change it, but has the papacy attempted to do so? The answer is yes. In its catechisms, the papacy has omitted the second commandment against veneration of images and has shortened the fourth commandment from 94 words to eight and divided the tenth commandment into two commandments. (Check this for yourself. Compare the Ten Commandments in any Catholic catechism with God's list of the commandments in Exodus 20:2-17.)

There is no doubt that the little horn power (the antichrist) of Daniel 7 is the papacy. No other organization fits all nine points. And, incidentally, this is not a new teaching. Every Protestant Reformer, without exception, spoke of the papacy as antichrist.

the eighth king is a reincarnation of one of the seven originals from Daniel and johns vision he appears as having been slain beforehand , isn’t present in johns day , but yet lives again in the future from johns day reimerging from the pit

“The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition:

and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was,( past) and is not,( johns present) and yet is. ( future )

And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. ( when he reappears)

These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.

For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭17:8, 11-13, 16-17‬ ‭

the last part tells us this is all going according to prophecy written beforehand and is fulfilling his will. And if we can identify the whore we can see how her punishment is accomplished through this kingdom.

“And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.”
‭‭Daniel‬ ‭7:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

this leaves him as the 8th king.

He’s going to be a different type of kingdom from the first three described by Daniel and will have dominion and destroy the whole earth until Christ comes with salvation.

What’s interesting is he’s mentioned here before we ever see him rise in the vision

“And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭11:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

which shows us the non linear and non chronological nature of revelation. How the visions are overlapping in many points. And shouldn’t be thought of in a chronological timeline view.

the eighth king is a reincarnation of one of the seven originals from Daniel and johns vision he appears as having been slain beforehand , isn’t present in johns day , but yet lives again in the future from johns day reimerging from the pit

The beast that you saw—it was, and now is no more, but is about to come up out of the Abyss and go to its destruction. Rev 17:8

Could this be a resurrection through genetic cloning combined with the occult/satanism?

I’m not sure honestly I can’t follow science whatsoever lol it’s like a different language in my head

looking biblically I think scripture is always going to solve the mysteries that scripture presents , if that makes any sense .

so I think the beast went into the pit before John saw his vision ( was ) but hadn’t come back up yet ( is not ) but was going to come up in the future (from johns time) to reign with the ten kings a seperate time from the time of the seven headed beast but he is one of those first seven kingdoms re born ( not physically but like John and Elijah a kingdom filled with the same wicked spirit as before would rise and be the reincarnated beast . I think probably Babylon.( the Muslim nations of today ) But who knows for sure just my own thought

CERN is all about satanist seeking to open a spiritual doorway/wormhole to access fallen angels in an attempt to harvest their power and/or bring them forth.

Do a quick search on it - there are videos.

"I think probably Babylon"
Babylon = The teachings of Babylon were inherited by successive kingdoms and Rome was very much teaching the same thing but with different names. The Christians became popular and in order to control and please both pagans and Christians they incorporated many Babylonian teachings into the church. History will back me up. The papacy is the result. It claims to be the only way to heaven and every Protestant Reformer, without exception, spoke of the papacy as antichrist. The reformers where inspired by God for their time.

yes i agree it recurs throughout time China probably is next , I think if we look closely it dates all the way back to the tower of Babel when they tried to become thier own god and reach heaven by thier works
