Snoring?

I have sleep apnea, which has been improving since I started losing weight. I deal with it by lying on my side or stomach and positioning my head with the chin sticking out a little, so I maximize the airflow. I don't have dreams of drowning in honey anymore!

I've only really cared about other snoring when they snore LOUD and it keeps me up. My solution? Maybe not the nicest, but I'll go and poke them and say, "Turn over, your snoring is really loud!" But it works! :)
 
I talk in my sleep. Sometimes, only when I'm really tired. Snoring doesn't bother me, unless it is as loud as a freight train. I'm a chronic insomniac, so the question in any of my relationships will be more of them being able to put up with my sleeping habits then I putting up with theirs.
 
I have a relative that snores relentlessly. I liken the sound to a lumberjack cutting into a tree with a chainsaw. I only snore sometimes. Somebody else snoring might keep me from getting to sleep, but once I do get to sleep there isn't much that will wake me up. I guess I have just grown used to the sound.
 
I think this is funny. I am a snorer, if that's a word. I have a very light snore. My friend once told me that she likes my snoring because it was low and soft, I guess like white noise and it helps her fall asleep.

I can handle light snore but a loud snorer would be a problem. Maybe I should add this to my list of thingsto pray for in a spouse.

I can't imagine what a home would be like with two very loud snorers. Ohh wait, both of my dogs snore very loudly. Sometimes my cocker spaniel snores so loud that he wakes himself up.
 
I have been told that I don't snore all the time, but I do remember one time where I did let out such a loud snore that it snapped me out of my sleep, it startled me lol
 
I KNOW I snore sometimes because I wake myself up. Having a spouse who snores wouldn't be a big deal, as I'm a pretty sound sleeper. Since I have my guard dogs, I figure they'll wake me if something important is going on. :)
 
I've resigned myself to the fact, that due to the oddness I tend to attract, that if I ever do get married, my wife will most likely sleep with some odd contraption which involves two garden hoses attached to her nose which is hinged to an air purifier, which is powered by a solar charged car battery. I'm at peace with this.
 
I think getting used to the sleeping pattern of someone else is a learning curve anyway, so snoring is part of that. Tossing and turning, check. People who sleep in one position and never move, check. Sound sleepers, light sleepers, check check. I have insomnia and can hear a mouse eating a snack two blocks away. So I can't harp on the others sleeping habits too much. I often wonder if I will be part of the couple in my 80's, one in the basement and one in the attic because the harmony had to be kept somehow.

HAH, this is one of the most 'far out there' comments I have ever seen. No wonder you attract oddness still_waters
 
I'm more concerned about marrying a cover thief or someone with icy feet than a snorer :)

This makes me think of that scene in Sleepless in Seattle where her fiance has to do all of that nose-blowing and other prep before he can go to sleep. :)

Snoring? Doesn't bother me anymore...since I discovered the wonders of the product featured below.

Also works for Peruvian traffic noise (where drivers use their horn rather than the brakes), the annoying dogs-next-door, the annoying video-game-player-next-door, the annoying argumentative-couple-across-the-hall, and the ever annoying screaming-obscenities-at-the-top-of-their-lungs-for-an-hour-while-having-sex-people-in-the-apartment-above...

I snored since i was a kid. Loud. And as i got older & heavier it got worse. I was one of those 'hear you through the walls' type. And it eventually developed into apnea. Severe apnea. The guy at the sleep study was amazed at how many times i woke up. Something like 300 disturbances in 6 hours, or some crazy number like that. So last November i had surgery. Soft palette trimmed, tonsils removed & severely deviated septum straightened. I still need to be retested, but snore is now down to a reasonable light snore. The apnea is definately improved, though i'm not sure to what exact degree. But now, the upside is i am no longer embarassed to visit relatives for fear of keeping everyone up. Or dozing off on the couch & people having to crank the TV up. Or being caught dozing in church... oops.. did i say that? *ahem.
So anyone with major snoring or apnea, check with your doctor to see if the surgery could work for you. Its a rough recovery but the long term effects are worth it.
 
I once visited a family in which the Mom was kind enough to book me my own hotel room wherever we went (we traveled around a bit) because, as she explained, she said that she had a horrible snoring problem that she did not want to subject me to (she was currently single, though I'm not sure if it was because of the snoring.)

I figured she just wanted to give me some privacy and was overly exaggerating, as many people do when they put themselves down a bit... It was a hard lesson learned.

The last night of my visit, the hotel had only one room left.

I should have believed what she'd told me.

The dear woman, much as I love her to pieces, could pretty much have sucked the curtains right off the windows. I had to cling on to the side of my bed for dear life, fearing I'd be caught in the midst of a black hole.

The next time someone tells me they have problems with snoring... I will choose to believe them.
 
I've never thought about that. I share a room with my sister and she doesn't snore.

I got a friend however who snores like a tractor
The worsest thing is that we were on a pilgrimage and sharing the same tent I couldnt sleep becouse of him and we had to get up early in the morning after a 30 kilometer march It continued for 9 days!
Even more I tried to wake him so I could sleep in quiet but I couldnt He slept like a rock
 
You guys are making me loathe being required to live in a dorm...with a roommate.
