How does one back up old Cassette tapes to CD?

all you need is a cassette player and a CD burner. Connect both to your computer with the associated drivers.

search for 'cassette to digital' or 'cassette to mp3' converter.
you can get a decent one for around $25-$30, or pay more for higher quality ones.
they will record the cassette either onto a usb drive you can then transfer to your computer, or maybe directly via cable to your computer. from there you can make a CD if your computer has a CD-burning drive.

Patch cord...
Out of the headphone jack of the cassette player and into the mic port of the computer...have the sound recording button on the software going BEFORE you hit play on the cassette player.
