Genesis 9:
20 Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded[a] to plant a vineyard. 21 When he drank some of its wine, he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent. 22 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father naked and told his two brothers outside. 23 But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders; then they walked in backward and covered their father’s naked body. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father naked.

24 When Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him, 25 he said,

“Cursed be Canaan!
The lowest of slaves
will he be to his brothers.”

“Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers.”
This could have been prophetic. We know that the Canaanites became very wicked and idolatrous, and God decreed their destruction and enslavement.

It has to do with the nature of his parentage. It is likely that Ham took advantage of Noah by sleeping with his wife, Ham’s own mother, in an attempt to take authority of the family.

When Noah discovered that Canaan wasn’t his own son, he cursed him, essentially saying that he had no part among his half-brothers.

Personally I think the grandson Cannan had a homosexual event with Noah, and this is how he knew what the grandson did.
It was from the generational line of Cannan that the cities of the plain such as Sodom and Gomorrah came.

15 Canaan was the father of
Sidon his firstborn,[g] and of the Hittites, 16 Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites, 17 Hivites, Arkites, Sinites, 18 Arvadites, Zemarites and Hamathites.
Later the Canaanite clans scattered 19 and the borders of Canaan reached from Sidon toward Gerar as far as Gaza, and then toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboyim, as far as Lasha.

.
It's not unusual for God to take out his displeasure with a man's conduct
indirectly, e.g. his property, his children, his livestock, his freedom, his
livelihood, and/or whatever else pertains to him. For example: David's
punishment in the matter of his affair with Bathsheba was the death of their
first child; and there was a famine in Israel not because of anything the Jews
did to desrve it, but for king Saul breaking a treaty with the Gibeonites;
which also eventuated in the hanging of seven of his sons.

If truth be known, the Jews were caught up in the Holocaust due to the sins
of their ancestors rather than their own sins.

Ex 34:6-7 . .So Jehovah passed before him and proclaimed: Jehovah,
Jehovah, a God gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in love
and fidelity, continuing his love for a thousand generations, and forgiving
wickedness, rebellion, and sin; yet not declaring the guilty guiltless, but
bringing punishment for their parents’ wickedness on children and children’s
children to the third and fourth generation.

Why did Noah curse his grandson before God?

Because his grandson did something terrible.

Genesis 9:22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.

(uncovering someone's nakedness in the Hebrew means to have sex with their wife Leviticus 18:5-8 )

Lev 18:5 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the LORD.
Lev 18:6 None of you shall approach to any that is near of kin to him, to uncover their nakedness: I am the LORD.
Lev 18:7 The nakedness of thy father, or the nakedness of thy mother, shalt thou not uncover: she is thy mother; thou shalt not uncover her nakedness.
Lev 18:8 The nakedness of thy father's wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father's nakedness.

Keep in mind this states that Ham saw this, not that he did the uncovering which suggests he might have seen someone who was "uncovering" Noah's wife.

K&D

The laws against incest are introduced in Lev_18:6 with the general prohibition, descriptive of the nature of this sin, “None of you shall approach to any flesh of his flesh, to uncover nakedness.” The difference between flesh, and flesh, is involved in obscurity, as both words are used in connection with edible flesh (see the Lexicons). “Flesh of his flesh” is a flesh that is of his own flesh, belongs to the same flesh as himself (Gen_2:24), and is applied to a blood-relation, blood-relationship being called (or flesh-kindred) in Hebrew (Lev_18:17). Sexual intercourse is called uncovering the nakedness of another (Eze_16:36; Eze_23:18). The prohibition relates to both married and unmarried intercourse, though the reference is chiefly to the former (see Lev_18:18; Lev_20:14, Lev_20:17, Lev_20:21). Intercourse is forbidden (1) with a mother, (2) with a step-mother, (3) with a sister or half-sister, (4) with a granddaughter, the daughter of either son or daughter, (5) with the daughter of a step-mother, (6) with an aunt, the sister of either father or mother, (7) with the wife of an uncle on the father's side, (8) with a daughter-in-law, (9) with a sister-in-law, or brother's wife, (10) with a woman and her daughter, or a woman and her granddaughter, and (11) with two sisters at the same time.

LOL really? when the text doesn't even say or suggest that.

what actually happens in the text?

20 And Noah began to be a farmer, and he planted a vineyard. 21 Then he drank of the wine and was drunk, and became uncovered in his tent.

22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brothers outside. 23But Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it on both their shoulders, and went backward and covered the nakedness of their father. Their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father’s nakedness.

He saw the nakedness and told his two brothers. He saw not touched, not had a sexual experience. it was disrespect. the action of the two other CONFIRMS this with what we have in the text. to say anything other than what is given is adding to. And that is absurd.

No. Ham uncovered his fathers nakedness, Mrs Noah.
Hence ,
Gen 9:25 And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.
God Bless!

Ham simply disrespected his father; no more no less. Today we can't imagine a father cursing a son for something so "trivial." But disrespecting father or mother is serious. You have to read what's inferred in the narrative, not only what's spoken. Ham's problem was one of a disrespectful attitude. He may have thought it was funny and went and told his brothers, "hey you want a good laugh, check this out."

After Ham saw Noah's nakedness, he went and told his brothers; he didn't have sex with Noah, or with his mother, or anything of the other ridiculous ideas I've heard. Noah was too drunk to respond but not drunk enough that he didn't remember Ham's disrespectful behavior when he woke up.

IDK what is wrong with some people... this is not an incest story.

Noah got sloshed and passed out naked. Ham obviously saw this- he should have been the one to cover up Noah, then walk away and say nothing about it to anyone else. What he did instead was blatant disrespect.

Scripture doesn't say that. It says he SAW his nakedness. It had already been uncovered by the one Noah cursed, Canaan.

Nothing like that is found in text. Ham is never said to have been disrepsectful nor was Noah ever shown to be upset with him. The only person Noah was upset with was Canaan.

No it wasn't. Nothing in text shows Ham being disrespectful. There is nothing wrong with going to your brothers for help.

that is what the very text says LOl Noah made wine got drunk and was sleep and his grandson came in saw him naked told his brothers who went in and covered him. It then says when Noah woke up he cursed his grandson for what he did. I guess looking at an elderly relative naked and telling others what you saw is to you is a godly thing? Absolutely it was disrespect.

No, it was not disrespectful. The person who did the uncovering was disrespectful, in fact it was criminal and perverse and the curse he received was fitting.

“And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.

And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.

And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him. And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.

And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem;

and Canaan shall be his servant.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭9:22-27‬ ‭

it’s interesting that all the nations of people on earth spring forth from Shem ham and Japheth according to the Bible

“These are the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭9:19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

In essence each of Noah’s sons represents a third of mankind after the floods

and in the end of the Bible it’s interesting that in revelation 9

a third of mankind is cursed and slain

“And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates. And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭9:13-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Sorry that’s off subject but I thought it was interesting a lot happens to a “third “of creation even a third of heavens host falls. It seems a third of man was cursed even from the first three of us after the floods.

it’s interesting also that the Holy Ghost seems to Be the “third “ aspect of God and what he gives us in Christ.

LOL, you are ridiculous and did not read the text. Noah was in his tent. not out in public I guess if Noah was in his home taking a shower and a person came into the bathroom unannounced and saw him naked is Noah's fault? LOL OOOooooook.
