I'm thinking that it's time to begin the annual cooking extravaganza at my home....
I'm gonna be really really busy for a while...
14 varieties of candy and about 8 varieties of cookies. Then there's the breads.

Oh yes...
I'm not as much of a fan of the tooling that I did for it, but my wife is and she is the one who picked it out. Other than the letter I tooled it's identical in just about every way. Hers uses a very similar paper insert but since she wanted parchment paper instead of just regular paper the insert is a hair thicker per page making it a ¼" thicker insert. Otherwise it's identical...same soft vegetable tanned leather...chrome tanned leather is much softer but it's so soft that after years it becomes a ball instead of remaining a book. The chrome tanned leather journals also show every pocket on the inside by just looking at the outside. So hers will last for decades longer than the one I gave her over a decade ago.
Here's the practice of the letter... apparently I don't have a picture of the final product. But I did tweak it a bit and it came out better the second time.
Usually vegetable tanned leather comes out very stiff but since I used a colored oil to dye it came out soft.
