I know what you are saying justin, I've done some research about this and other matters in the net and what I've found is terrible. We live in a very wicked world, and this world's most powerful people are the crib of the wickedness.

Thanks Justinsxc for your passionate plea. It reminds of a similar rant (and I mean that in a good way) when I was closer to your age.

Followers of Christ are commanded to take action and seek justice in a fallen world, to point out where we are turning against God. Our consumeristic lifestyles are unsustainable, personal and government debt is soaring, moral relativism is opening doors for the devil. Jesus turned the tables in the temple and had little patience with those who were corrupt and self serving.

BTW, I'm disappointed in all the personal attacks in this thread. Who cares about grammar as long as he's making a point. And his points are reasonable. Let's leave history out of it. We're all guilty to some degree.

I understand your concern my brother and as a junior member of society, your concerns are warranted and just concerning the present state of the global economic/political machines that have been stragically put into place. However, you have failed (at least in your post, which is kind of erratic) to properly articulate the "why." You are on the right track, but your investigation is not as thorough as it could be. I would be interested in hearing your hypothesis regarding, "why" what you have stated is occurring and who is responsible, besides Satan obviously :).

You can thank the Russians for finally crushing Hitler.

It's debatable that the greatest war crime ever perpetrated was even required to be unleashed on the Japanese. They were about to surrender.
1. I agree, the Soviet Army was an unstoppable powerhouse once it was fully mobilized. The Russians don't get enough credit for their part in the war, especially considering the brutal engagements they endured at Leningrad and Stalingrad.

2. Greatest war crime ever perpetrated? Uh... Have you not heard about the Japanese atrocities committed in China? What about the 6-8 million people murdered under Nazi rule? The Soviet purges? Maybe the atomic bombs were overkill and it's certainly heartbreaking to think about the deaths caused then and the ones still caused by fall out, but I would argue they were no more damaging than the war raging on even longer. It took two atomic bombs to finally make them give up, how do you figure they were 'about to surrender'?

We're trailing off from the topic at hand, but I had to address that statement.

Except his point is about a 'dumbing down'. Most people expect basic grammar when someone is criticising the education levels/intellect of a whole nation.

Of course you did. You had to minimalize a war crime. The only time atomic weapons have been used in war and they were used a civilian population.

The greatest weapons in history of mankind, and they were used on innocent people.

I'm well aware of the Japanese and their torture camps. Australia fought in WW2 as well.

I guess you didn't know that Nagasaki AND Hiroshima were military cities, housing military bases and outposts, as well as many of the nation's military personnel.

I love Japanese culture and people as much as the next crazy anime-freak American, but they bombed us first and helped out our worst enemy. They had to be taken out at all costs.

Do you buy bibles, and cut the Old Testament out?

Genuinely curious based on your posts on this forum thus far.

Hey hey, really we shouldn't be talking about nationalism in here, Zone taught me that.
And the Japanese near surrender? We had a debate about that in history class.

It's not a controversial fact that the overwhelming majority of people killed were civilians. Thus making it a War crime by definition.

The Hiroshima and Nagasaki Bombings Remembered

Altogether, the two bombings killed an estimated 110,000 Japanese citizens and injured another 130,000. By 1950, another 230,000 Japanese had died from injuries or radiation. Though the two cities were nominally military targets, the overwhelming majority of the casualties were civilian.

Can't speak to the facts, so you resort to ad hominem?

I learnt the History in school. Catholic School. I'm also educated outside the American school system, so our History is not 'Empire' biased.

My Grandparents fought the Japanese, who also bombed Australia, and tortured Australians. I have no pro-Japan bias.

Good good good, yeah the higher up on the history scale here tends to help too. Like last year's G U.S history class there was literally as many flags crammed into the book as possible, as well as a chapter on how you NEED to be like a patriot and such. Then this year I took AP US history which reversed practically everything. :p So yeah be careful of what you read and where its from.

Where in the world is Ad Hominem in my question?

Basic structure of an Ad Hominem Fallacy..
Nizkor said:
  1. Person A makes claim X.
  2. Person B makes an attack on person A.
  3. Therefore A's claim is false.
Fallacy: Ad Hominem <--- click
I've not said anything about your claims related to the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

To claim that I was making an Ad Hominem attack, is rather presumptuous on our part.

My asking the question, is based on my perception of how you arrivate at conclusions of "WAR CRIMES!!!!WAR CRIMES!!!!WAR CRIMES!!!!WAR CRIMES!!!!WAR CRIMES!!!!WAR CRIMES!!!!"

How do you arrive at this conclusion? It seems, based on other posts I've read of yours, that you project your political liberalism into Christianity. Instead of letting Christianity inform your political liberalism.

We have the same problem in the United States. Projecting political conservatism into Christianity, instead of letting Christianity inform our political conservatism.

When did you become inocculated?

I learnt the History in school. Catholic School. I'm also educated outside the American school system, so our History is not 'Empire' biased.
This would appear to be more of an Ad Hominem, but I won't press it because I don't really care. Everyone carries a bias. Let's atleast not pretend that we're inocculated because it's our position. Pretty please?

As an added bonus, God apparently is a War Criminal! /sarcasm

Exodus 34:11-14 said:
11 Obey what I command you today. I will drive out before you the Amorites, Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. 12 Be careful not to make a treaty with those who live in the land where you are going, or they will be a snare among you. 13 Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones and cut down their Asherah poles.[a] 14 Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.
Leviticus 26:7-9 said:
7 You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall by the sword before you. 8 Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the sword before you. 9 “‘I will look on you with favor and make you fruitful and increase your numbers, and I will keep my covenant with you.

Hosea 13 said:
Hosea 13 (New International Version)

Hosea 13

The LORD’s Anger Against Israel

1 When Ephraim spoke, people trembled;
he was exalted in Israel.
But he became guilty of Baal worship and died.
2 Now they sin more and more;
they make idols for themselves from their silver,
cleverly fashioned images,
all of them the work of craftsmen.
It is said of these people,
“They offer human sacrifices!
They kiss[a] calf-idols!”
3 Therefore they will be like the morning mist,
like the early dew that disappears,
like chaff swirling from a threshing floor,
like smoke escaping through a window.
4 “But I have been the LORD your God
ever since you came out of Egypt.
You shall acknowledge no God but me,
no Savior except me.
5 I cared for you in the wilderness,
in the land of burning heat.
6 When I fed them, they were satisfied;
when they were satisfied, they became proud;
then they forgot me.
7 So I will be like a lion to them,
like a leopard I will lurk by the path.
8 Like a bear robbed of her cubs,
I will attack them and rip them open;
like a lion I will devour them—
a wild animal will tear them apart.
9 “You are destroyed, Israel,
because you are against me, against your helper.
10 Where is your king, that he may save you?
Where are your rulers in all your towns,
of whom you said,
‘Give me a king and princes’?
11 So in my anger I gave you a king,
and in my wrath I took him away.
12 The guilt of Ephraim is stored up,
his sins are kept on record.
13 Pains as of a woman in childbirth come to him,
but he is a child without wisdom;
when the time arrives,
he doesn’t have the sense to come out of the womb.
14 “I will deliver this people from the power of the grave;
I will redeem them from death.
Where, O death, are your plagues?
Where, O grave, is your destruction? “I will have no compassion,
15 even though he thrives among his brothers.
An east wind from the LORD will come,
blowing in from the desert;
his spring will fail
and his well dry up.
His storehouse will be plundered
of all its treasures.
16 The people of Samaria must bear their guilt,
because they have rebelled against their God.
They will fall by the sword;
their little ones will be dashed to the ground,
their pregnant women ripped open.”

John Wesley must be pretty immoral too, since he said Earthquakes are a sort of "Divine Justice" from God.

INB4 God changed his mind..
Numbers 23:19
19 God is not human, that he should lie,
not a human being, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act?
Does he promise and not fulfill?

David, if you ignore everything above, atleast, ppppllllllllleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaasssssssssseeeeeeeeeee.... don't ignore this part of the post.

I am not taking issue with your conclusion, just what appears to be the way in which you come to your conclusion.
