@Laura798 @Pilgrimshope You two made this thread worth every second of it.

The insights are amazing. As i said previously i was in the other camp not long ago ...it never occurred to me that i could not call JESUS ...LORD (King) today with that mentality. They just don't see that yet.

i'm now wondering if satan became bound on Pentecost. The HOLY SPIRIT holds him back.

Hi Pilgrim,

It looks like you are responding to both Charlie and I but, we are on opposite side of the discussion--I think its why it's helpful to read a few of a person's post before responding. I am in agreement with you--If you see my other post--the most recent with enumerated points-where I state that Christ is ruling and reigning now--sitting at the right hand of the father and in every believer. His work on this present earth was finished at the cross and there is no necessity (or scriptural support) for Him to come again to earth to rule a literal 1000 years. He comes a second time to gather the elect, to judge the world, then immediately all is destroyed --the unbeliever, the current heavens and earth and then God creates a new heavens and new earth where only 'righteousness dwells'.
“His work on this present earth was finished at the cross and there is no necessity (or scriptural support) for Him to come again to earth to rule a literal 1000 years.”

his work here was while he preached the gospel and was finished before he ever went to the cross to be put to death on the flesh , and glorified in the spirit the cross wasn’t Jesus work

“These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.”
‭‭John‬ ‭17:1-6‬ ‭

the cross was about salvation and glory not his work , his work was to preach the truth from heaven to mankind and manifest the true God to believers

“Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”
‭‭John‬ ‭18:37‬ ‭

to announce the promised kingdom of eternal life

“Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:14-15‬ ‭KJV‬‬

his works were in life , but his glorification was by death and resurrection for the salvation of man from death and hell

“Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?

And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭24:25-27‬ ‭KJV‬‬

his death was for sin but his resurrection and the works he does for us even today is about glory he works on our behalf still

“Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭7:25‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The point of Jesus at Gods right hand is that he intercedes on our behalf who he died for when we fall short sometimes or find we’ve been wrong somehow he is still our advocate

“My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭2:1

the reason Jesus was born was to teach mankind the truth that we couldn’t understand or know. And thre reason he died was to be our forerunner and advocate with The Father our mediator

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭2:5-6‬ ‭

He’s the only one now in Gods presence regarding intercession and so those who believe in the Kingdom he preached and ways he taught can even as we know we will die one day we can have this same assurance facing that first death apppinted to all as to this man approaching death

“And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭23:43‬ ‭KJV‬‬

This is possible because we hear and believe what Jesus preached

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

that’s new and offers life after the appearance of death

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:51‬ ‭KJV‬‬

again an escape from death is offered by Jesus

“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”
‭‭John‬ ‭11:25-26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus of course raised him up that same day a few minutes later. It’s the gospel Jesus preached that offers eternal
Life and that’s what his work is and was to convince us of the truth his death is simply a prince he paid so all
His words can be enforced upon all mankind who he purchased with his death from hell and death now he alone holds The keys to death and hell our experience in death is now up to the guy promising that we won’t come to death if we believe him

“I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭1:18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus has the authority to promise an escape from death the second death of course bekng the one referred to we all die once but we can live afterwards with God in the kingdom paid for by Jesus blood but promised by his words in the gospel of the kingdom

his works are before the cross , and now bekng glorified in death and resurrection and seated at Gods right hand in heaven making intercession for us still who can ever condemn us ?

“Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:34-35, 37-39‬ ‭KJV‬‬

speaking the New testament was Jesus work. Because before he was there advocating for us this was at Gods right hand constantly accusing us for any transgression we’ve made

“Take this book of the law, and put it at the side of the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭31:26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

That needed to be fixed

honestly brother I think whenever Christians gather together in a spirit of not arguing but instead learning and offering different thoughts and perspectives it becomes a blessing for whoever hears and participated in the same spirit regardless of who says what the thread being started led others to consider and offer thier thoughts

Ditto, Joe!:coffee:

And I'm grateful to you for starting this thread. I believed that Christ was reigning now--not because it was taught or emphasized, in any church I attended but because the Word says He is. And amazingly, there are verses that say we are also reigning with Him now--and it's not just here on earth--we are currently/spiritually seated with Him in the Heavenlies!*

*I know you understand this, but for anyone else, I'm not saying we are literally there--it's a concept that's a little mind blowing and hard to wrap your mind around. We won't be with him literally until His second coming.

"That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me."--John 17:21

"And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,"--Ephesians 2:6

But the point that I was getting to is by studying the matter I have discovered
1) That those who believe in a millennial reign do not believe Christ is currently reigning-
2) And why thinking He is not reigning now is a very serious doctrinal area--unbeknownst to those who believe this, they are actually making His finished work on the cross to no effect--just what Satan wants!

PS Satan was bound at the cross. Note that He is bound for a 'thousand' years and Christ 'reigns' one a 'thousand years. See excerpt below.

In Christ (here and in the heavenlies):)

Laura

In Luke's account the strong man is represented as armed and guarding his palace or residence. But once disarmed by a stronger opponent, he is deprived of his spoils (Luke 11: 21-22). Christ's claim, then, is crystal clear. He has 'bound' Satan and can plunder his house at will...Satan cannot successfully resist Christ. The tyrant has been defeated. He may and does counter-attack, but he has already lost the war. He knows that his time is short (Revelation 12: 12). So do his minions as they ask Christ, 'Art thou come hither to torment us before the time?' (Matthew 8: 29). They know that torment awaits them in hell, a place 'prepared for the devil and his angels' (Matthew 25: 41).

Satan is bound by the cross of Christ. There the serpent's head was crushed and the forces of evil routed. So certain was Christ of victory as He went to His cross that He could say emphatically, 'Now is the judgement of this world; now shall the prince of this world be cast out' (John 12: 31)..it (also) needs to be remembered that the atonement is retrospective...in its efficacy, as well as prospective. In other words, it relates equally to all post-Fall history, whether for us it is past or future. It is trans-historical."

Hmm?:unsure:Jesus said 'It is finished.'

"28 After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!” 29 Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth. 30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit."--John 19:28-30

There is no Salvation and no Eternal Life until His death on the Cross--he said it was finished at the cross and I believe Him.

i see now that the Holy Spirit is moving me to write a book that exposes the spirit of error which is rampant in christianity.

Lie #1 - "The body of Christ is never referred to as the elect."
Lie #2 - Elect has to do with service, not salvation.

Half truth (OT) #1 - "The nation of Israel is God's elect nation."

Half truth(OT) #2 - "He elected them for the seed."

"No lie is of the Truth" - 1 John
You should study and rightly divide the word of truth a little more before writing the book. Election always has to do with service. Jesus Christ was God's elect. There are elect angels in service for the Lord. The nation of Israel is God's elect for service according to the seed. I guess if you wanted to say that the body of Christ is elect for service in the Church Age that would fit as well.

David, I think you might want to research this a little further--if Satan is not bound now, this does not mean he doesn't still influence the world; it is saying that Satan was defeated at the cross, by Christ' sacrifice sin, death, and Satan were defeated. Via his substitutionary death for the believer we reign with him now and are living and fighting for his kingdom on this earth--and eventually will be with Him in eternity, therefore Satan is defeated! Please see my other posting with excerpt from UK apologetics website--there are a host of other apologists who can explain this far better than I can'--a simple search online and you will understand--and understand how important it it is that we believers grasp this essential truth.

My Sister - are you mature enough in Christ to rejoice, like a little child(Me), before His Word, with complete confidence to abandon yourself to HIM who loves us? Do you desire His Truth over religion presumptions that ALL of us come from?

Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan,
and bound him for a thousand years; and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up,
and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished.
But after these things he must be released for a little while.

You placed service BEFORE salvation which made it into an error.
Salvation by works/service is condemned by God, since the beginning - GENESIS.

Also Pilgrim--the bible was originally written with chapters and verses. It's important to read the whole of John 17--note that he is talking about His upcoming death on the cross--the work of preaching the gospel is finished, but His Magnum Opus is still to come!

"17 After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed:
“Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. 2 For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. 3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. 4 I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your

...11 I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of[b] your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. 12 While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by[c] that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.
13 “I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, ...18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. 19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.

Jesus Prays for All Believers
I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.
25 “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26 I have made you[e] known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”

Revelation ch20
I'm not sure you're meaning--I have come to my conclusions by studying the Word for myself--not by anything I have been taught by men--in fact I left the institutional church 8 years ago--nondenominational so they don't do a lot of 'denominational' style teaching it's more application than expository--what is it you think I don't understand? You are quoting verses that are SYMBOLIC--they are not literal.
To deny Satan was bound at the cross is to deny Christ and His finished work at the cross.

Please carefully read what I have written before responding. Thanks.

Some of Revelation is literal an some is symbolic. Rev ch 20 is Literal.

Please post the scripture(s) that clearly states satan is currently bound and that started at the Cross.

I'd have to post all of the gospels and all of the New Testament! Best to do a search for this topic--Satan of COURSE was bound at the cross! If he wasn't then Christ could not say "IT IS FINISHED"!

In Revelation Jesus is ruling and reigning '1000' years/Satan is bound '1000' years--they are BOTH Symbolic--Christ is reigning NOW. Satan is bound NOW. ---obvious because Christ defeated him at the cross--it is all right there for you to see if you would stop taking the symbolism of Revelation literally--you need to learn what is symbolic and what is literal--there is a pattern here--you will not find one verse in the bible where the 1000 is literal--it is always symbolic

If you cannot post a clear scripture that directly targets the question, means you cannot accurately answer the question.

Revelation chapter 20 is literal and there is no symbolism used in it, in FACT, the LORD unveils the symbolism of who the Dragon is.

Understand and know this from Scripture - Christ has not yet fulfilled His Second Coming - HE has not yet Returned.

Read Matthew ch24 , 1 Thessalonians & 2 Thess and 1 John and 1 Corinthians ch15

Something else i didn't write but curious how it is related to satan being bound:

Although Jesus said in John 16:7–11

7 “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;

10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.”

{edit in:
John 12:31
Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.}

Who gave us (((POWER))) after Holy Spirit baptism (Acts 1:5; 8) on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:2–24) Who said in Isaiah 42:6–7; GNT

“I, the LORD, have called you [John 15:16] and given you (((POWER))) [Received after Holy Spirit baptism; Acts 1:5; 8] to see that justice is done on earth.
(((THROUGH YOU))) I will make a covenant with all peoples;
(((THROUGH YOU))) I will bring light to the nations.
7 (((YOU))) will open the eyes of the blind
and set free those who sit in dark prisons.”

//i think this is saying when satan is loosed he will do something to The Light that we all know is here right now.

Correction the word should be 'without' not with. The original letters were written without chapter and verses--those weren't added until the 16th century.

Satan is loose and free right now and has never been thrown into the prison of Rev ch20.

The Holy Spirit is the Key to understanding Scripture - thus HE is the Spirit of Truth that will Comfort us and lead us into all Truth.

Satan is bound and shut up in prison only at the LORD's Second Coming.

We are currently here, on earth writing for His Coming: 1 Thess & 2 Thess & 1 John and Hebrews and the Gospels

Satan is currently deceiving the nations, as is evident and clear = just turn on the news and/or walk and speak to people.

The nation Israel is still in rebellion against Christ and have not yet said "Blessed is HE who comes - the LORD."

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! 38See! Your house is left to you desolate; 39for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ” Matt ch23

Brilliant! I wouldn't have thought of those verses "11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.”..."Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out."

To others reading this post:

It is so important to understand what 'bound' actually means--this does not mean Satan is powerless. It is in the context that Christ defeated Satan, sin and death at the cross. Eternal life is available to ALL--Death IS defeated for all who believe and by this Satan is bound. He and his demons are still able to influence people to do evil--but in the light of God's eternal plan Satan was BOUND and DEFEATED at the Cross. We as believers have VICTORY. (and yes He will be 'loosed' or has been loosed--something to look into)

Colossians 2:14–15 makes it clear what happened to the powers of evil through Christ's ministry, especially what He accomplished on the cross: "[He] cancel[ed] the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him." This indicates that wicked powers were defeated in principle at the cross of Christ. When Jesus purged all of our sins on Calvary, something happened to Satan. The evil one lost his authority to keep people back from God. He was bound by what Jesus did. https://www.ligonier.org/learn/articles/binding-satan

Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, --Hebrews 2:14

He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son,--Colossians 1:12
