Hello. I know this may be a weird questions but I'm 19 and hoping to move out of my parents house in a few years, and am looking for places that are beautiful. I'm on the east coast so if y'all can post places (cities, states) that are around the east side of America ( North Carolina, Virginia, New York, etc), and a little inland ( Pennsylvania, Ohio, Tennessee, etc), I would appreciate it.

Vermont and New Hampshire are beautiful places but beautiful may not mean you would enjoy living there.

Honestly i don't really do anything with my life at the moment so i don't really need much. But what's the downside to living there ?

I lived in Maine for 8 years and it is quite a scenic state for the sake of my late second wife but cannot recommend it as a state to relocate due to poor infrastructure and employment opportunities. I currently live in Tennessee which I consider the most scenic state I have lived in - no state income tax, plenty of jobs if you stall away from the rural areas and countless mountains, valleys and hills.

I don't live there but absolutely love Tennessee.

I was in Vermont ..some years ago.
- During the autumn season.
- Awesome scenic view..
---
Winter season...
- I do not want to be there!..cold weather.
- One of the top 10 coldest states in US.

Tennessee is quite picturesque. You got mountains in the east, rolling hills where I am in the west.

Fall foliage tends to brown though. You have to go over to Virginia for the wild riot of fall color.

People are downright neighborly here. We hold the door open for someone coming in behind us and pull over to the shoulder before turning off the highway so we won't slow down the person behind us.

Downside of living here is, no high paying jobs. Factory jobs are about as good as it gets around these parts.

On the other hand, the cost of living is pretty low here.

Define brutal. It usually doesn't get below 16F here in winter. It might snow once a year, or maybe not. That's only brutal if you grew up in Flori... oh.

Define brutal. It usually doesn't get below 16F here in winter. It might snow once a year, or maybe not. That's only brutal if you grew up in Flori... oh.

Actually, the brutal winters was referring to New Hampshire and Vermont. We're having a mild winter so far in NE Tennessee. There were some color changes in the fall but fell short of awesome. Last winter we had about 20" of snow total and even had a white Christmas. No snow this year with the current temp @ 62F. Maybe it won't snow this year. Regarding brutal winters - I endured 8 of those while living in Maine. That's another scenic state but dim employment prospects.

Yeah, we never get up to "awesome" in fall. You have to go east for awesome.

What about Asheville NC ? I've only been there twice that i can remember and i like some parts of that city. Has anyone else been there longer that can describe it in more detail ?
