Could this be interpreted to say we should not be involved in politics?

Seems to me if we abstain, we are less likely to be influenced and deceived a la Mathew 24, 1 Timothy 4:1-2, Romans 16:17-18, Mark 13:5-6 ....

Jesus Did Not Speak Out On Current Political Issues

There is nothing recorded in the New Testament about Jesus Christ speaking out against any of the political issues of His day. Nothing in His teachings gives even the slightest hint that He had any political involvement.

I recently heard a teacher say that the Pharisees were the equivalent of our politicians today. As he fleshed it out, I thought he made a really good point. And Jesus certainly engaged them. But I think our motives are hugely important. Jesus was always going after people's hearts. When I engage people in politics, I'm usually trying to prove myself right and them wrong, which is definitely not the spirit Jesus operated in.

it seems as if politics is in fact what divides many. Politics is about people’s convictions and morals really at least in America that’s what it is meant to be

we have our morals and values and then have a politician who’s supposed to represent those values when elected so it’s always going to really really really
Matter to the political People

Democrats think republicans are evil and republicans think Democrats are nuts because the values each holds are very contrary

gay marriage ? Abortion ? The economy ? Crime and punishment ? Religion ? Race ? Ect

politics is about the condition and laws of ehatever country and who gets to shape those laws and regulations ect who gets to say what’s right and wrong ? That’s sort of what politics is who gets to decide gay marriage is the law of the land ? Who gets to decide whether abortion is legal ?

politics seems to tie into the fabric of the society it represents it’s all about the power so it seems it will always be a point of contention

but it has nothing to do th Christ and the gospel that’s from another world d not any particular nation or country or city

it seems a fallen mankind still trying to govern themselves independent from the laws of God d making up our own right and wrong

I believe politics will be the reason many believers abandon their faith in the end. Oh wait that's happening now...

In the end it is very much out of your control as an individual with little power
I don't focus on politics or care anymore because it can be saddening and for some people it is even distressing
It is best I think to focus on what is in your control and do what is right

God warned us where this world will end up. It's naïve to think that those who lead us there will be righteous.

The Jews thought their Messiah would be a political figure to save them from the Romans.

Too many Christians today think their savior will be a political figure to save them from commie liberals.

Jesus was always under the watchful eye of rome. How else could pilate say I find no fault in this man.

Politics has not been good to God's people

Some people are called to politics and others are not. We see politics in churches and we see politics in workplaces. Politics in townships. Politics in every aspect of governance.

Any Christian true to their salt will never lie or practice deviousness while in a position of political power. For many, this might be too burdening, for others they are well suited. Paul in essence was a politician (among other things). He advocated for a correctness in the policies for the then-young church, such as an understanding of the nonrequirement for circumcision.

Being in a political position isn't forbidden by Christianity, but as soldiers of Christ truth is our sword and one in Christ will never yield to darkness. Instead, a soldier charges into battle knowing that their life and wellbeing might be forfeit for the whole hearted and loving service that is due to our commander, Christ.

There have been good politicians throughout time, most probably just aren't memorable in comparison to the gawksome gull of politicians that gained a bad reputation. And it might be the case that some wrongfully gained a bad reputation based on a mistruth or lie.

Politics isn't inherently bad in itself.

In keeping in line with the theme and flow of this discussion, is it possible that Voting for Candidates that seem to promote God over Candidates promoting selfish issues like gender identity and gay marriage have kept God from doing Greater Works and Returning Sooner?

yes I think that’s been an issue for a long long time. Imagine the early church under the government of rome and thier politics it’s probably what led to them being tortured slaughtered by Nero

Politics seems to be what man came up with to seperate Gods authority and sovereignty over us , and try to govern our own wicked selves

I think you are spot on with that thought , politics for many is more important than Thier faith in Christ. So it’s sort of like a false religion maybe even more important to worldly people they want the power and influence and money and notoriety that comes with politics

in this world king mankind politics is where all the real power is so it seems inherently corrupt but is also part of our society in which we live so I think Christians should vote and maybe not let the vitrial into our hearts d sort of choose Jesus morals and values even though that’s not going to win political gold it will lead to everlasting life

I think my current favorite example of this is the way Jesus handled the issue of racism when he was confronted with it at the well in Samaria:

"Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. [10] Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water." - John 4:9-10 KJV​

He immediately turned it into a conversation about salvation.

There is a qualitative difference between "entanglement" and "participation". Christian citizens in countries which expect citizens to vote should participate to that extent. Not get entangled in political machinations. And if you cannot in good conscience vote for any candidate, then abstain from voting. Of course, given the fact that election fraud and rigging will now be a permanent reality, voting would be a farce. Also totalitarianism is now being established in the "free" West which also means that voting will mean nothing.
