Hi, all! It occurs to me that many of you might benefit from having a good Bible app on your phone or computer. Here are the ones that I use, and they are completely free. Feel free to share other resources here in this thread so that other CC members can enjoy them too!

(When I say free, I mean the KJV version is free in these apps. You may need to pay for a modern copyrighted (ahem-corrupt!-ahem) Bible version.)

https://e-sword.net/
E-Sword is a fantastic free Bible software for PC. I use it almost every day as it is very simple to look up a verse quickly, and copy and paste it for other uses. This program has a ton of features including notes, search functionality, etc.

Tecarta Bible is a great app for Android or iOS. The link above goes to their website, but under the menu there are links to the Android and iOS app stores where you can get the app for your phone. The KJV Bible is free in this app, but you will need to pay for extras like devotionals, etc.

Nope, I have ZERO connection with either of these Bible apps except as an end user.

Bible apps are a definite blessing I like the one I downloaded about two years ago it has a search bar so it makes it much easier to study topics and find things that would have taken much longer to find things from the law and prophets that work together with the New Testament to help us understand

I definately agree that a good Bible app is a huge benefit to study the one I have also allows for any translation the person wants to use and has comparative translations where you can see if there’s a notable difference in differing translations ect

has benefited my own studies a lot

Yeah, "ye cannot serve God and mammon." A lot of these for-profit Bible publishers are clearly serving mammon.

I'm surprised they turned you down entirely, though. It's a good sign that their heart is in the right place!

Do you believe that it is wrong to be paid for your work? The Bible says otherwise:

Jeremiah 22:13 “Woe to him who builds his house without righteousness,
And his upstairs rooms without justice,
Who uses his neighbor’s services without pay
And does not give him his wages ,"

Malachi 3:5 “Then I will come near to you for judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, the adulterers, against those who swear falsely, those who oppress the wage earner in his wages or the widow or the orphan, and those who turn away the stranger from justice and do not fear Me,” says the Lord of armies.

Matthew 20:8 “Now when evening came, the owner of the vineyard *said to his foreman, ‘Call the laborers and pay them their wages, starting with the last group to the first.’

Luke 10:7 Stay in that house, eating and drinking what they provide; for the laborer is deserving of his wages. Do not move from house to house.

Romans 4:4 Now to the one who works, the wages are not credited as a favor, but as what is due.

1 Timothy 5:18 For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle the ox while it is threshing,” and “The laborer is worthy of his wages.”

All those who work in Bible translation are worthy of their wages, as are those who work in printing, binding, distribution, and sales.

No, but the Bible is the #1 bestselling book of all time, so of course greedy people will take advantage of that. Do you seriously believe that the publishers of all 900+ English language versions of the Bible are trying to please God over themselves and their pocketbooks?

Then there are versions (I won't be specific here, though I could be) that refuse to correct longstanding errors in their Bibles and which produce editions every few years to keep the money rolling in.

There's a lot I could say here... but I'm not ready to fire up a whole thread on Bible versions right now. Here's something to think about, though... The publishing company that puts out LaVey's Satanic Bible and the publishing company that puts out the NIV are owned by the same man. Hmmmm....

Your response emoji is apt. You have chosen sleep over spiritual vigilance as concerning the issue of Bible translations, like many modern Christians.

If you don't want to argue about translations, then don't poke the bear.

By the way, you know absolutely nothing about me. Don't be a jackdonkey by assuming anything.

I like theWord. I used eSword for a long time, then I found out about this one; now I use it almost exclusively. I mainly use it because it has a lot of modules eSword doesn't have. No NKJV Bible module though, unfortunately.

It's getting a little old; last update was 2013. But it still works fine for me on Windows 10. Great program for free.
