Jesus fulfilled the OT prophecies to the letter, so as Christians of course we believe the Messiah has already come and now lives as our Redeemer. But I'm wondering whether Jews still believe the Messiah is coming or just what? If so, who are they expecting? What qualities do they believe this person will have?

Most Orthodox Jews do believe the messiah will come. This varies of course. I do listen from time to time to different Rabbi’s as I’m interested. This guy is not a Rabbi, but it gives you kind of an insight:

When Jesus came, some Rabbis and other Jews saw that He is the Messiah and embraced Jesus. The majority though were expecting a king ship like a govt head.

Absolutely. This is one of the fundamental tenets of Orthodox Jews: "I believe with perfect faith in the coming of the Messiah. How long it takes, I will await His coming every day."

Since they have rejected Jesus of Nazareth, they are expecting another one to come claiming that he is Messiah/Christ. But he will also claim that he is God. This is the Man of Sin, the Son of Perdition, the Little Horn of Daniel.

And the false prophet with two little horns of Revelation 13.

Many Israeli Jews are meeting their Messiah. Thanks to the internet, more of them have come to Christ in the last 20 years than in the prior 2,000 years. Groups like One For Israel are doing fantastic work.

As a person, whose heritage includes the Sephardim Jew, they believe at the 6,000 year mark from Adam, the Messiah will come as King of the Universe, set-up His Throne on Earth, destroy the enemies of the Jews [the Gentiles and Muslims] and will Reign for at least 1,000 years until the 7,000 year mark.

Which is how they will be deceived by the Beast/Man of Sin, because, he will do something similar, have Power that appears as Creator of the Universe, proclaim he is God, set up his kingdom on Earth, will rid his enemies, and will reign the known world.

I say ----Yes---- they hope and pray for their Messiah to still come -----

As stated in one post above some Jesus have accepted Jesus as their Messiah ----and they are saved Jews ----

According to Judaism this is what they expect from the coming of their Messiah--read all here --I just posted this -----

Key beliefs in Judaism
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/guides/zjbyb82/revision/5

Characteristics of the Messiah
The Book of Jeremiah in the Tenakh states that the Messiah will be a great leader descended from King David.

The Book of Isaiah teaches that the Messiah will be a political leader and judge. He will create a fair government in Israel, which will become a centre for all politics worldwide.

Many Jews believe that when the Messiah comes, he will:
  • Rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem.
  • Bring about the end of war so that everyone can live in peace.
  • Unite all people regardless of differences like religion or culture.
  • Bring a true awareness of God to all people.
  • Signal the end of the world.
Jews use the Hebrew term olam ha-ba, which means ‘the world to come’, to refer to the time after the Messiah’s arrival, which is also called the Messianic Age.

An added note, the Stone rejected by the builders was taken to heaven. It is the Chief and the Cornerstone. He will return and rebuild the true Temple of Living Stones, and this will endure forever. Praise Jesus Yeshua, amen.

I think Jewish people have a hard time believing that the physical temple in Jerusalem was not a place God wanted to dwell in forever He pretty much abandoned it when they started worshipping idols and taxing everyone for its upkeep.

A done up renovated temple no matter how gaudy it looks or how big it is was still infested with idol worship.

Man cant build it...anything made with humans hands wont cut it.

You ask if Jews believe that the Messiah is still to come. This question is more complicated than it seems. Firstly, the term Jews can refer to a race of People or the religion of a people. The Jews accept either term.

As for the Jews, as a race of people, unfortunately at least 1/2 of their numbers have become atheist and they are not waiting for any Messiah past/present/future. This group of Jews celebrate Jewish traditions and holidays. This large percentage of Jewish atheists, even in the State of Israel, can easily be researched on line, click on the following articles:

About half of Jews are atheists - why it is so and why they are Jews | Vladimir Minkov | The Blogs (timesofisrael.com)

Jewish Writers Admit: “50 Percent of Religious Jews are Atheists” – David Duke.com

A small percentage of Jewish believers have become believers in Jesus, they refer to themselves as Messianic Jews. They retain the Jewish identity while accepting Jesus as the Messiah. And they are not awaiting another Messiah, except for Jesus' second coming.

As for Jews who are not atheists and who practice the Jewish faith, they view Jesus as a fraud/charlatan/liar and certainly not God nor even a good man. And this group is waiting for the Messiah to come.

As to my above post, I must admit that I made a terrible mistake by citing an article by David Duke, an ex KKKer and a bigot. However, I stand by the crux of my thoughts that Jewish atheism is very prevalent among the Jewish race of people and that this can easily be researched on line.

Yes they are waiting for a messiah still that is not Jesus.

This false messiah will be the antichrist, most will believe on this false messiah...however the word says a remnant will not. Also the false prophet the bible describes is the "Elijah" they are waiting for that will work in conjunction with the false messiah. See Link
Jewish Messiah They believe this messiah will rebuild the temple reinstate sacrifices and such. This is the messianic age they await.

The 7 Noahide laws. See Link Noahide Laws will be the standard and gentiles who do not convert will be punished/put to death.

This is why the nature of the Christian towards the Jewish non believer and Israel in general should be a gospel centered ministry to as the word says provoke them to jealousy in the hope they are regrafted again by faith.
It is dangerous for the Christian community to unequally yoke themselves with unbelievers in a way that the John Hagee's encourage. Modern Israel is going the be the epicenter of the AntiChrist system. So much disinformation exists some actually believe that the antichrist will be Muslim. Or the Pope. Beware of deception in the Last Days. Blessings all.
