Why is sex before marriage a sin against God?

This is a really great question. And believe me, I'm not a Biblical scholar on this subject at all, but here are my initial thoughts as they come to me.

First, "marriage" according to who? A part of me rebels against the idea of the secular world determining my marriage. When I was married, I took my "vows" at the "Little Chappel of something or other" in Las Vegas. How repulsive. It was dirty, dingy . . . just a disappointment. Meeting with the "minister" seemed weird to me; he tried to make it seem like a reverent thing we were doing, but it was cheesy.

My second thought is this . . . if "you" are currently sleeping with someone, that's your last! Whether you're married or not, you are not authorized to be with anyone ever again. Paul taught several things regarding marriage, but here are what I think are the two main points he made:

1) Don't divorce, or separate, unless adultery occurs.
2) If you divorce, or if you're single, remain in the position that you're in. Do not change!

Paul gives an allowance that if a person cannot control themselves, then by all means, remarry. But, we are not meant to enter into sexual relationships so that when things go even slightly sour, we just jump right into another. I did that and it is not good . . . at . . . all. I got used to the idea of finding someone new virtually whenever I wanted. As soon as one relationship ended, I was back on the Internet Dating sites that same day. Same day! I became desensitized to relationships compared to when I was young (and still a virgin). When a relationship would end, at that point in my life, I was devastated. I would even go a couple years between relationships because of my broken heart, but once I got that taste for the thrill of "a new woman" and her physical flesh, it became a sport for me. In the end, I was nothing less than a user of women for my own personal glory. Later in the week, I'd revel over my conquests and brag about my proclivities.

There are over 6,000 varieties of apples in this world and God allows us to try them all, but this is not His mindset with humanity. God wants to see that we can be nearly as dedicated to our spouse as we are to Him. If we aren't dedicated to our spouse, it's nearly impossible that we will be dedicated to Him. If we can Endure our marriage, then perhaps we can Endure a Holy life with Him.

This life is not about sex; it is about Endurance and Devotion. Who will Endure? Who will commit themselves Wholeheartedly?

1 Corinthians 7:2 (ESV)
2 But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.

Because God says it is.

Not to be blunt but it carries real world problems. Look at the statistics behind the problems that arise out of sexual immorality? Single moms, fatherless children, broken marriages, rise in drug use, incarceration, poor grades in school, STDs, etc.

“Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, ‘The two will become one flesh’” (1Cor. 6:16).

When you have sex with someone you create spiritual soul ties. Some soul ties are evil/demonic in nature, for this reason alone you should not have sex outside marriage. You could have some evil influence in your life. It is possible to break soul ties through repentence and verbally breaking the tie.

I meant to suggest this in my initial response.

Not that David and Jonathan were intimate, but (OP) take a look at what the Bible says about their spirits . . .

1 Samuel 18:1-3 KJV - "And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. 2 And Saul took him that day, and would let him go no more home to his father's house. 3 Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul."

This is a Covenant of Holy Love between David and Jonathan, for their souls were bound together, and when this happens, nothing can break this Covenant, not even the physical death of the body, for it is the soul that has been bound as one, not the body. Therefore, the Covenant cannot be broken simply because the body dies, for the Covenant was not based upon what is physical, but upon what is Spiritual.

For the same reason it would be a sin against you if someone took your hair brush and tooth brush and used them to scrub the toilet bowls in a public men's room. That's not what they are for. Likewise, the body is not for fornication.

sex before marriage is fornication. Which is a type of idolatry. Sex before marriage is done to self please and without commitment.

God said the joining of a man and a woman is for the reason of marriage. Gen 2:24

Think of the children. A child needs a mother and a father. The ultimate purpose of sexual union is reproduction. We would likely have no abortion, if there were no sex outside of marriage.

I'm not saying that sex before marriage is not a sin but can't seem to find anything in the bible that says that sex before marriage is indeed a sin.
what is fornication?

Yes, that is right. I was just thinking about a link of sex / marriage. Didn't consider fornication which is sex before marriage. Good point.
But hang on . . . I think your original statement is more accurate, for, what is "marriage"? Is "marriage" only qualifiable by some worldly judge, or licensing agency?

Crazy example: What if there was only one man and woman in a geographical area and they consummated their relationship with no one to approve? Are they married, or not? The last thing that I consider (in this world that belongs to Satan), is the approval of those who belong to Satan. NO ONE whose Spiritual Father is Satan determines one bloody thing about my life.

Fornication is marrying a foreigner or having intimate relations with a person foreign, especially one who is from a nation which is an enemy of one's own country and especially one who is personally such an enemy. Fornication: to make yourself foreign.

You wish, apparently, that extramarital sex was not for sale. Good for you. If there were no whores, no gigolos, no pimps and no porn stars, it wouldn't be in your face, fascinating you because sex is so important and wanting your money. What I have to say about that is that it's the fault of the seller. A person in a pornographic picture might be getting taken advantage of many are no doubt exploiting themselves. I say it's the fault of big business. You maybe shouldn't have gone to the website or bought the picture or moving picture, but it's still the fault of the rich capitalist who had the means of production to photograph that naked person, or film those naked people having sex, or print and copy and rent a place to sell the photos. If your problem is real and you really feel that it's a problem, then I hope you are able to find an honest vice prosecutor to get those distributors shut down.

You are not married unless a civil authority (judge or magistrate in your own country) says you are. The state you live in has to issue you an official certificate bearing its permanent seal.

As for your remarks about Satan, you are obviously just a confused person of lesser education. Nothing belongs to Satan. Spiritually speaking, unless you're just not religious, everything belongs to the creator. Now who created, God or Satan?

(This is you right now: "OMG! Headpalm! Headdesk! how could I possibly have made such a foolish mistake?)
