it does seem by nature ( the natural man) difficult. and yet God created everything.

but we have consciences too, thankfully, and a spiriritual nature. we can choose. but not all as much perhaps can choose.

it takes awareness. and once you become aware of any wrongness or something just kind of off in your self you have a chance to start to do something about it.

you do not need to have heard of Jesus to do this i do not think. we have consciences and with noticing (if any does, at any time) and wanting to change (repentance), you can begin to change.
The natural man, before he has been quickened to a spiritual life, does not have a spiritual conscience.

Which means that the Gospel must be preached as a COMMANDMENT to repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. This rarely happens.

God commands sinners to TURN from their sins and idols and turn to Christ for salvation. Which means that a forsaking of sin and a surrender to Christ is a divine imperative.

God does COMMAND men to believe on Christ. It is not an option: And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. (1 John 3:23)
Wonder if Christ didnt die for a persons sins, are they commanded by God to repent and believe on Christ ?

If ALL MEN EVERYWHERE are commanded to repent, that fully answers your question. So now you need to repent of your folly.

Since Christ didnt die for everyone, its senseless to repent and believe on Christ. In fact God wont give them repentance in the first place.

That is of course hyper Calvinism. How do you reconcile the verse at the start of the thread with this doctrine you cite?

And how can you attribute it to Calvin - which is the thrust of the abuse Calvinists receive endlessly - unless you can demonstrate that this is what he meant? Or else explain in a narrative diction what he said doctrinally that gives rise to this claim you have made.

Cite Calvin in Latin or French from source. Do that.

I mean how can YOU say that it is senseless to repent and believe on Christ. That precept would be a start if you have the mind to engage with a Calvinist.

I have limited contact to people unless they come to me these days.
Forums are usually where I print my words.

I will say from the get go I Am NOT PERFECT....YET.
It might do us all some good to go back to our closet and have a talk with the FATHER, repent and ask for forgiveness!

We ALL have attitudes, thoughts, judgments, theologies, standards and just down right complacency at times in our lives.

Scripture says if we come to the altar and remember our brethern have ought against us or with us,then we are to leave the altar and try to make it right before continuing talking to our Father!

To me that means repentance and forgiveness!

Only Gods elect are commanded to repent because Christ gave them repentance unto life Acts 11:18

18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.

Spiritual Israel is given repentance Acts 5:31

31 Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Spiritual Israel are men and women everywhere, not just national ethnic jews. So God does command men everywhere, throughout all nations to repent, but it still only pertains to His Elect !

Yes I understand the claim and the force of the argument. We are speaking about Limited Atonement. What I asked was how can you say that it is senseless to repent as though uttering such words could not cause stumbling. Your position is a hard or hyper position and it is contrary to the Spirit of grace.

I think it is important to distinguish the diference between the repentence between believers and non believers.
We live in an unrepentant boastful and sinful generation a good example of this is music, I was born in the wrong generation I always say I like old music like in the 70's and 80's you know actual music not this constant nonsense of boasting sex money drugs ect. a very boastful and sinful generation they need to repent.

A believers repentence can be twofold for some it does them good for their souls to repent daily that is just their way and is how their relationship is with God but the believer whose heart is repentant is a state of being not merely a daily asking for forgiveness but their hearts are already living in that stae so when they do fall short as we all do they ask for forgiveness out of instinct not because it is a command but because they genuinely are repentant they care about father and it is more about their love for him than even their sin they ask for forgiveness.

When you care about someone and you do thyem wrong you ask for forgiveness because you care not because you have to or because it is the right thing to do this is what seperates those who are commanded to do so vs. those who have the heart of repentance and I think it would be wise for anyone preaching repentance to make sure to explain this as well because you cannot speak of a command without giving the whole picture

No my beef is with you. Your words and your needless determination to write that which of itself will cause stumbling. So stumbling you will cause and may the Lord tear down your tower and throw it into the rubbish tip. Amen.

By what authority do you advance speak of the reprobation of men when you neither know the men nor the necessity to show mercy?

I'm sorry my bible must have a misprint.... spiritual is not printed here.

But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree. Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.”

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH = Anyone, not just the Elect, but ANYONE can be a Believer. So Everyone must REPENT!

A just God would not be just in sending people to Eternal Damnation because YOU ARE UNABLE TO INTERPRET SCRIPTURE THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT!

YOUR IDEALISM PROVES YOU DO NOT HAVE THE INFILLING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT!

How will they believe if they don't change their mind ?

It is discouraging...I get it...but, we must remember that God knows that also and tolerates such as part of His plan, knowing some will not repent.
He must be very disappointed in His human creation at this point. Hwever, it is notnew. Christ has been doubted through out history and it is gettting worse.
we are reminded that scriptures tell us that wide is the road and narrow is the gate to redemption and many will miss it.

Ah yes, let us not forget that everyone does not mean everyone, and all does not mean all, and the world does not mean the whole world, and whosoever does not mean whosoever...
