God uses evil to do good in Genesis 50:15-21

I believe any thing that has evil or bad cause is tainted. Like using bad money for good.

Or what of good understanding from bad teaching - if you understand some thing due to bad behaviour you should reject the teaching and understanding due to getting it from a bad source. Like bad behaviour at work, or in your job or by government. We should want all our understanding to be caused by good and clean things.

I'm glad you brought this up . . . the timing is great! Are you saying that you feel that giving money that may have come from corrupt sources is wrong in itself? For example: What if someone was really good at placing bets on Sporting events and they gave their winnings to the poor? Would this be wrong?

I feel God intends good use of all evil. So it either strengthens you or increases your defences in some manner or your faith as on Job.

So what is intended for evil ends up causing good. God is that powerful.

The money from corrupt sources is used for good but is not pure so it has less of a benefit than good money.

Money from betting on a sporting event given to the poor is a good use of the money. But it must have less good effect than good honest money earned and given to the poor. We are meant to be stewards of the blessings God bestows on us and what we receive freely we freely share. Matthew 10:8

I might think of it being a separate event. When Joseph was sold into slavery, his rescue of his brothers and blessing of his family was a separate event not based on the evil of being sold into slavery so it's based on a new situation. What do you think?

What do I think? Well, I like the way you think. :D

I'm about to receive money from being abused when I was a little kid and I was planning on using that money to use for betting on sporting events. I am EXTREMELY good at this, as I have been testing my "betting scheme" for nearly one year. No, I haven't placed any bets as of yet, but only testing. So far, in all of my fake bets that I have been keeping track of, I win at 86% of the time. I have won 76 out of 86 events.

I figure if this lawsuit brings about money that came by corruption, or, being abused, then why not turn it into something even greater? Since it is money that I shouldn't necessarily have, I feel like I can risk losing it. And the way I see it is like this: If God doesn't want me to have money to give to the poor, then I will lose it. If the Lord wants to bless this money so that I can create more (so that I can give more) then He will do as He pleases.

At least this isn't like the Peter Pan story, where a person steals from the rich to give to he poor.

What are you thoughts on the Peter Pan theory? Would it be wrong to steal so that someone who is starving might live?

Do you mean Robin Hood where he steals from the rich to give to the poor.

I think Luke 6:34-38 is relevant

Be kind and feed and water your enemies. Proverbs 22:21-22

The Bible explicitly forbids stealing. So even stealing from the rich is wrong.

5:4040And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well.

Matthew 5:40

Where it gets more complicated is when stealing is an act of war. Someone trying to steal your land. Is maybe an act that justifies force. When I wrote this out I felt that God wouldn't want you to surrender your possessions to the enemy such as your house or land. But Jesus explicitly states sell your possessions and give them to the poor.

With your example of sports betting. We are to be stewards and invest money we are blessed with. So manage money wisely.
Matthew 25:14-30

Sports betting is gambling. So I would recommend reading this page

We should be satisfied with God himself rather than money. Wanting to raise money for the poor could be seen as good as it's to provide for the poor. But the method has to be good too. I feel sport betting is too much reliant on the love of money to be good.

Ahhh . . . yes. Robinhood . . . that guy. :)

Luke 6:34-38 - I definitely believe in the Word and what it says. However, I've been giving money to those in need for years and the Lord isn't returning it. I'm not complaining, though, as the Lord has a Plan and He is working that Plan each day of my life. I'm currently working very hard to become a Real Estate Broker so that I might earn a significant income so that I can give significant amounts to those who are suffering. I'd like to be able to set up Trust Funds for schools so that the administration can distribute the money at their discretion.

With your example of sports betting. We are to be stewards and invest money we are blessed with. So manage money wisely.

I agree. What would you say is a good investment? Banks only pay a fraction of a penny in a bank Savings account. For example: $55,000 only paid me about $26.00 interest for an entire year. So what is a good investment? The stock market? Property/real estate? 401K?

Sports betting is gambling.

Yes, it is technically gambling. But why is this a sin? Wouldn't earning money through prostitution be a sin? Such as, Rahab? And if we earned money through such acts, would it be wrong to tithe that money to the church? Or, use that money to feed the Righteous before she lied to the men who were hunting down God's workers?

But back to safe sports betting. What, technically (in your respected opinion) renders this as wrong? I've been thinking about this and I am unable to find anything about it to be a sin. This is why I mentioned working for a Mormon business. Would that be wrong? To earn money from a clearly apostate group of people who claim that Joseph Smith is a God and that "you" too, can become a God? THAT is something that I regret doing . . . working for a Mormon group that used my efforts to further build apostasy.

But if a casino opens its doors to me and says, "Come on in. If you can create a system to take our money, then fine. We'll give it to you." As noted, I am about to receive several tens of thousands of dollars from a lawsuit. If I take that FREE money and use it to feed the poor, I could have turned $11,250 (a starting point number) and turned it into $44,450 based upon my testing over the last ten months. To me, this seems like the smart thing to do. If I have built a system that can generate $33,000 in the last ten months, then it seems that I should at least try. If I lost this money, money that came from being abused, then so what? How many more mouths can I feed with $45,000 compared to $11,000? To me, I would be irresponsible if I [did not] do this.

So this isn't about a "love for money," but it is about a love for helping others. I have been asking and begging others to help me figure out how to invest the money that I have so that I could be a benefit to the poor. Yes, I even sold my house so that I could invest the money and give on a continual, persistent basis. But, no one has been able or willing to help me. I have been looking to buy a business; no luck. I've tried to develop a business; no luck. I have done all that I can to find a way to invest a LOT of money, but the Lord just hasn't created a way for me to do that.

This isn't about loving money, it is about being realistic in knowing that if we are to feed the poor, we have to buy it.

it’s hard for me to think God is behind the rape and murder of a child or such things.

it seems as if mans place on the earth as overseers and thier provocation of God is what brings any evil I’m not so sure it’s his Will at all in any way for anyone to ever commit evil and he’s going to make it a good work.

what I’m saying is first God tells
Man something that they need to believe and be blessed and then he warns them of evil to come If they reject it. Sort of this process

“Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them:

for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭20:3-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

If we take God at his word and then do what he says will bring evil such as making a calf and worshipping it and giving it his glory the. The result is going to be what he said it would be

“And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves: they have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

( Moses intercedes for them )

And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭32:7-8, 14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

he wasn’t intending or willing to do evil to them man provoked it by transgressing his true and irrevocable word he had warned them of which they swore to keep And obey that’s the ot and what governs it.

Truthfully God is light and in him is no darkness at all and God is love and love doesn’t do evil. but there is darkness in man that rejects his warnings of evil that is to come and provokes them truth of his warnings which he sets before us

his words do this for those who hear they give them a choice to be blessed in believing or cursed in rejecting

“See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; in that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.

But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them; I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it. I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭30:15-19‬ ‭

Gods word cannot and must not be trifled with or we will fulfill the evil he’s warning us not to bring on ourselves.

“Yet ye have not hearkened unto me, saith the LORD; that ye might provoke me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt.”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭25:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Precious friend, SamuelMichael, A Very Warm Welcome to Chat.
These Scriptures came to mind:

2Ti_2:7 "Consider what I say; and The LORD Give thee understanding in all things."
+
Php_4:8 "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
