The New Testament principle is giving, not tithing. "From each according to his ability to each according to his need" is the fundamental principle.

Those who teach and preach should be financially supported by the brethren if necessary. Any poor in the fellowship should also be helped. As far as other worthy causes, I suggest that people pray about where they can give.

Giving is a vexed subject. I grew up with a poverty mentality and giving was very hard for me. Over the years, the Lord changed my attitude. I give more than 10%. If I have the money, I give. God has never let me down. I am free of debt, I bought my car new with cash and I have money in the bank. That makes me one of the richest people in the world.

then best way to understand the church is to study what Jesus taught his disciples to do. The church is made up of Jesus disciples.

he doesn’t mention tithing but when he mentions That Pharisees and law teachers put tithing before the more important aspects of the law

“But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭11:42‬ ‭KJV‬‬

tithing is a good thing or rather sharing with others what we can afford , but the more important part that actually really
Matters is Gods judgement and expressing his form of love to other people.

Giving actually becomes a fruit of believing the gospel a result of believing right and expressing the love of Christ to others makes us have a more generous and caring heart that will act when we see needs we can help meet in his name

I would say read the things Jesus taught about money and possessions to find the help you need in this matter.

There is another current thread on the topic, titled "What is your motivation for tithing?". Much of the relevant information has already been shared there.

The short answer to your question is No, because Christians are not required to "tithe". :)

Isn't tithes given not to earn financial returns but to remember Christ's sacrifice to deliver us from the forbidden knowledge of good and evil that led to death (eternal separation from God)?

Um… no. Not at all. Where did you get that idea?

I think basically all pastors say this. Baptist pastors definitely say this since Baptist churches are independently funded.

Any preacher—be it Baptist, Methodist, Pentecostal, or whoever—who teaches tithing should be avoided. They're liars.

Question for anyone: How do you think pastors should preach about giving and still get regular/sizeable funds to run the church? Even if they don't use the word "tithe" what they say will still sound like tithing because they will be saying 1) give to local church, and 2) give a sizeable portion so that bills can be paid, plus more like benevolence. Like, they will still have to talk about giving a lot.

churches don't take tithes and offerings, they receive them from those who give them. You don't want to give don't! God doesn't need your money, however, where your heart is so shall your treasure be also. It takes money to do things for the kingdom along with prayer, and labor. We are told as we have been blessed we are to give and encourage to do so. I think if we look at what we give it is far more than the tithe and offering YET, it is still not out-giving God.

I don't know about other parts of the world but in the US things have gotten so turned around backwards it's very difficult to sustain a ministry without asking for regular tithes and even more. This really is the crux of the matter and it's most unfortunate. There's property, buildings, staff, entertainment, equipment and other luxuries modern "churches" think they must have to attract people. But I'm not sure the kind of people who are attracted by these things would really feel comfortable in the actual body of Christ.

As far as how preachers should preach about giving, they should simply preach the truth. That is, giving is between the individual and God. That God loves a cheerful giver and that greed is not good. Tithing preachers nearly always promise some kind of big payout (aka "bessing") that plays into people's greed. I believe that if a ministry is ordained of God He can cause it to thrive without having to resort to all kinds of tricks to get people's money.

It's really very simple; unfortunately today's mindset makes it complicated. If a ministry can't survive without resorting to extortion then that means they have to rethink their strategy. When if comes to financial difficulty there are two principles for surmounting it: 1) Increase income. If that's impossible then 2) Cut expenses. That's it. Ditch everything that's not necessary including the building. The early church met in homes. Why do we feel we're too good for that?

Scripture does not teach, encourage, require, command, or even hint that Christians are to "tithe". It does, however, strongly teach that Christians are to give. They are not the same thing.

God said HE enjoys a cheerful giver and those who give to the poor lend to God and Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

God is not robbed nor mocked. there are many people who do tithe and don't even know God :)
