I agree.

Deuteronomy 14:26 Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the Lord your God and rejoice.

Gee...how long did it take you to find that un related listing.

It is hardly unrelated since it mentions fermented drink.

But I can understand why you wish to overlook and pooh pooh it.

It does not fit your narrative.

I think I have used the word Sipsey so much during my life, that it just oozes out in conversation. It is an English spelling of a Choctaw Indian word spelled sipsi, and the name of a nearby small stream I grew up on. It means cottonwood tree. They were once plentiful along that stream and duly noted by the native population of long ago.

I am actually working on a collection of short stories entitled, “The Sipsey Chronicles,” about the life and times of people that lived along its path.
I'm glad I found this explanation. I was under the impression your nic might be referring to the thai word for the number 14, relative to its biblical significance, of course.

At one point in time, I could count to 20 or so in Thai. I was over there in 71 &72.

the people who wrote its forbidden must have not read the bible ever? God tells people to spend their money on whatever they want and lists wine. Jesus drank wine, everyone drank wine at the time, and yes the alcoholic kind, there was no way to preserve "fruit juice" and there is a separate word for that.

now me personally i disagree with that. unfortunate but true i think islam has a better ruling, absolutely no alcohol, as kayla pointed out if you dont ever drink, you have 0% chance of getting addicted, if you drink a bit, you have a chance, why take the chance? but dont take my islamic stance on it, its not the biblical christianity stance so its probably wrong, just my rational fleshly reasoning here clouding my judgment i guess.

Do you have evidence that the "wine" at the wedding was alcoholic, rather than the "wine" of non alcoholic grape juice?

It seems you might have assumption based upon the word "wine". Have you studied this word in scripture and in the context the wedding? I am only asking.
im sure the guys at the wedding were just thrilled to have more grape juice after being "well drank"

this grape juice thing is so ridicilous when will baptists stop preaching this trash? there was no grape juice, ever. its a very new invention
