I'm curious. What are you doing? What do you WISH you could do? We don't typically do anything and I kinda want to, but I have no idea what.
Step back in time for a day of family, fun and fireworks at Riverside Inn's SECOND ANNUAL Fourth of July Celebration This coming July 4th, for the second straight year, they open thier grounds for a free, old-fashioned, community-wide Independence Day Celebration. As many other local boroughs and organizations cut back on their community celebrations, the Inn’s event keeps getting bigger and better with even more ways to “step back in time for a day of family fun and activities!” There are dozens of activities and attractions planned...and most are free and open to the public. Here’s just a partial list: FREE concerts all day! BLUE DIAMOND takes the main-stage in the afternoon, with Erie Idol Finalist GAIL HUNT performing in the evening. THE TIMELESS TOOTSIES strut their stuff right after supper-time, then a SURPRISE headlining band will take the music into the evening…and right up to dusk. On the Dinner Theatre stage, you can get a sneak-preview of the Inn’s upcoming show, HONKY TONK ANGELS, starring Brenda Evans, Jean Malthaner and Meggan Donohue. The 150th Bucktail Regiment will be staging a Civil War encampment on the grounds, with period music, dance and cooking demonstrations, and activities for the kids. Back for his second year is historical re-enactor, Paul Stillman, this year as President Theodore Roosevelt. He’ll give lectures, make wing bone turkey calls, and will lead a “Teddy Bear Parade” across the grounds…So, kids, bring your teddy bears!! Bill Robertson, author of “The Bucktails” novel series – autographing books and storytelling Historical Displays, such as the story of Cambridge Springs and the Mineral Water Boom and Civil War and French-Indian War artifacts Children’s Activity Stations and Children’s Games and Face Painting (additional cost) Pig Roast and other great summer treats being served from 12:00-8:00pm. (additional cost) Old-Fashioned contests: pie-eating, seed-spitting, and sack races! The day kicks off with the 3rd Annual Rich Mumau Memorial 5K Race/Walk. Their pool will be opened to the public…with lawn games like croquet, corn hole and badminton available all day. Or, you can sit on thier expansive veranda and play a game of crokinole, checkers or dominoes. In addition to all of the included activities, what would a Fourth of July Celebration be without fireworks?? After sundown, settle into your lawn chairs and watch a dazzling free fireworks display by Pyrotecnico. This is what I am doing for the fourth. And on the 3rd I am going to spend the day at an amusement & water park.
