Make an adjustment that will bless your spirit = although the Torah was written by Moses, not all that was written is the Mosaic Law.

Genesis is before the Law of Moses and Genesis is the Foundation of TRUTH, the Gospel and the Promises.
No, no adjustment needed on my part. Most people believe like you and I understand that we only want to call the Law of Moses the Book of Leviticus but, I see so many other things that God has set up as Law...... like gravity, or seed, time and harvest.... the sun rules the day and the moon rules the night..... the power of God's spoken Word to create....and so much more.....

No, to me ALL the Torah is LAW.....God's Law set in motion that is governing the planet, the heavens and all inhabitants and life forms that are within.... the physical realm, the spiritual realm and the heavenly realm... the seen and unseen....

Also, ALL the writings of the prophets...... FULL of Laws, statutes, precepts, commandments, instructions.....

I love God's Heart and how He thinks and communicates....and interacts with His Creation. His Ways are so intricate and yet simple.... so simple that we complicate them with our human reasoning..... always trying to put God in a box....compartmentalize Him..... He's not like that....

I'm not sure I understand you? (I understand the scripture you posted fine, but the confusion of your first sentence is a bit confusing for me.

Since I don't often post here, allow me to introduce where I am theologically, perhaps that will help others understand my posts more.

My favorite famous Pastors anyone can see on YouTube are Paul Washer and Voddie Baucham to name two.

I am a reformed Christian theologically. Favorite systematic theology, and the only one I've yet read (though others have been recommended) is Wayne Grudems systematic theology the one with the blue cover.

My favorite theological websites are Ligonier Ministries, a Puritans Mind, Monergism, etc.

I also believe in the covenental relationship between God and man as outlined in Jesus and Israel: one Covenant or Two

If I'm remembering correctly, my Scriptural understanding is not welcome on this website, which leaves me more limited in speech here.

I am back to add something important in another thread, that doesn't require me talking about my beliefs which are considered controversial here. But I'm lightly jumping in in other threads because there's active biblical discussion which is nice. :) But that's not stopping the fact my speech is limited here.

So, that's my theology in a nutshell for those who are well read. Hopefully this is helpful for you.

Now, can you clarify your meaning in your response to me.
“but the confusion of your first sentence is a bit confusing for me.”

my first sentance responded to “ I believe in grace through faith but it isn’t an excuse to do whatever “

I responded “ it sure isn’t ……

Here is the reconciliation(adjustment) for you concerning Mosaic law and the Law of God.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers.
All things were created through Him and for Him.
And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.
And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.
For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross. Colossians 1:15-20

Your score:
Mosaic law = 0 and CHRIST = 1,00000000000000000000000000000000000 to Infinity = Before and Beyond

The law of Moses was given in stone. Stone is lasting and true, but it is without love. It could be obeyed by the letter of the law rather than the spirit of the law, or with love. It was of the earth, even the blessings obedience brought were fleshly blessing of such as good crops. It was weak.

The Lord changed the law from being in stone to being in our hearts. We are told in Jeremiah 31:33 “This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,”declares the Lord. I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.” This applies to all people who accept Christ. The law is no longer in stone, but the law is in our hearts.

The law is now changed from a weak law to a law with the spirit of love, a powerful law.

Jesus gave us the base of the true law of the Lord. "Jesus answered him," Love God, your God, with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. " (Matthew 22:37)

John 1:17 For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.

i like your OP but it is a bit deceptive, IF, you are leading back to the law of Moses thru Christ.

You said: "Jesus gave us the base of the true law of the Lord. "Jesus answered him," Love God, your God, with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. " (Matthew 22:37)

What the LORD Jesus said was not just the "base", no, what HE said was the WHOLE and FULLY COMPLETE in these Two Commandments.
Jesus declared, “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Your OP = MAYBE a play on words you are using to support the law of Moses = let me know.......

They were given the equivalent, you say?

Let's check the text (Romans 2) on that.

The Gentiles do not have the law.

Gentiles are not under the law, never were under the law.

Gentiles are a law to themselves!

The equivalent is obvious.
Paul was sent as an apostle to the gentiles and now there is no difference between Jew and gentile.

Romans 10:12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,

This does get to be a play on words. You are correct that love is the whole law, and the law in stone gave the rules of the law but without love that Christ added to make the law complete and perfect.

The First commandment given to Moses was to "love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength'
Was God being deceitful 'in stone' or was God showing us the Way to Life?

God's Law did not begin with Moses. It was around since the beginning and has Never changed. God does not change. Adam kept the sabbath as well as the "ten commandments".
I'm not speaking of mosaic laws of the flesh.
Jesus summarized God's law. He did not change or abolish it.
Jesus fulfilled God's Law, thereby Abolishing the law of "Sin and Death".
Paul describes it pretty well in ACTS 7-8.
Paul kept the 10 commandments. He never said that they are no longer in effect.

We are saved from the law of sin and death so that we can follow God's Law.

For without God's Law, there can neither be righteousness nor sin.

God's Law did not begin with Moses.
The Levitical Law absolutely began at Sinai.

The Law of God's Love, of the Son of His Love, began from the foundation of the world.

The Levitical Law was added because of transgressions. If there were no transgressions the Levitical Law would not exist.

The Bible even records: "And Moses called all Israel, and said to them: “Hear, O Israel, the statutes and judgments which I speak in your hearing today, that you may learn them and be careful to observe them. The Lord our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. The Lord did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, those who are here today, all of us who are alive."

This promise vested in Abraham but the covenant was confirmed between Christ and God, the Father and the Son. This is the covenant that per-existed the Law: this is covenant the priests, before the Law, administrated. You cannot have priests without a covenant.

"And this I say, that the law, which was four hundred and thirty years later, cannot annul the covenant that was confirmed before by God in Christ, that it should make the promise of no effect."

I get that we like things to be written down and in a "Thus say-ith the Lord..." form, but it simply was not so.

Adam walked with God. As did others. It was through this relationship, God with man, that men learned the mind of God. This was then passed to their children, and to their children's children. David was one such man in this line: a king who was also a priest. That is how he could eat the show bread and not be killed: he was acting out of a higher covenant: the sons of God.

So Cain killing Abel should not have been a problem then?

Law must exist first, or there can be no transgression.
Transgression of what? A LAW.

Psalm 40:7-8

King James Version

7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, (this is Jesus Christ)

8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

Theirs no such thing as a weak law, but the law that would be refer to as weak, would be the animal Sacrificial law, which could never remove sin. But let's take a look and see where Jesus got the two greatest Commandments from. In the days of Jesus, the religious leaders were constantly questioning Jesus in order to test Him and on this occasion a lawyer asked Jesus what is the great commandment?

Matthew (22:35) Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, (36) Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

Jesus reply was the 1st great commandment was to love God and the 2nd was to love ones neighbor. These were given as a commandment for man to love.

Now in Matthew (22:37) Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. (38) This is the first and great commandment. (39) And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

One should note that by following the 1st and 2nd great commandment they will be adhering to the 10 commandments issued by Moses. If they love the Lord they won’t have any other Gods before him, or make any graven images or take his name in vain, they will remember his Sabbath and if they love their neighbor they will honor their Father and Mother and they won’t kill or commit adultery or steal or bear false witness nor will they covet. This is why Jesus goes on to state that on these two commandments hang the law and the prophets. Because by fulfilling these two commandments one fulfills the law.

(40) On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Jesus stated that these 2 commandments where the 2 great commandments however the following verses will show that these commandments were not new and that the Jews and Jesus was speaking to were aware of them. These were the same ones issued to Israel by Moses.

Deuteronomy (6:5) And thy shall love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Leviticus (19:18) Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

Now that it has been established that man was commanded to love one needs to examine the scriptures to get an understanding of the love required in these great commandments.

Actually the Old Testament itself was the shadow, the blueprint, describing the Christ. That is why it was called the 'Old Testament'.

The law was an intricate description of the holiness and love of the messiah for us. The law was the step by step, detail of what the messiah would need to do, to reconcile us to Himself. Moses spoke at great length about the coming messiah.

For us. the law informed us of our sinful flesh, the law described the depth of our sin. The law condemned us absolutely. No one is righteous, no one can obey the law. That was never the purpose of the law.

The revelation of the scripture was Jesus Christ.

Quote the entire passage and then explain what is being said. You omitted a very critical portion to skew the meaning.
I have no idea what you are referring to in Romans 2?

I hope that you are mindful of the context of Romans 2.
