Corrupt is corrupt. You can't dismiss or minimize the corruption of one and emphasize it on the other to reinforce your personal view.
In a way I probably can. Although I can't "dismiss or minimize" the corruption, It won't change the fact that outside of criminals, law enforcement can cause great harm to people's lives, and a lot times suffer no consequence for doing so. Most other jobs (that I'm aware of) don't really have this problem.

"In reference to your running for sheriff, I'm not sure how you would "Christianize" being a cop. Or what changes you feel you could get away with. That's assuming you could even be put into that office as an outsider."

Well i could encourage my officers to report any wrong doing by other officers and reward them for doing so, thereby destroying the "thin blue line". I could have a team that gives food to those in need (or to anyone in general), etc. anything that actually cares for people instead of just taking them to jail, (maybe if possible have lawyers on stand by for those who have been arrested).
As for getting into office, i just need to convince people to vote for me, just like any other politician.

"Separation of church and state. That was a term created to refer to keeping the government out of the church, not the other way around."

Thanks for the clarification.

"When it comes to policing there is no way to label it broadly. There are people out to do good to the best of their ability. And people out for themselves and no concern for upholding the law or helping anyone."

Well yeah that's obvious, but I don't know what that has to do with me. I can just make the hiring process harder.

"This argument could easily be taken outside of the main topic. The internet is extremely corrupt and a lot of bad comes as a result of it. Way more than policing ever has. Should Christians be on the internet?"

The internet isn't harming people though. Yes It can (and has) be used to do harm, but that's the person using it to do wrong. You can say the same thing about police and you would be correct, there are some people who use police powers to do wrong. but the difference is they are a lot harder to hold accountable then the average person because of their power.

God bless you sir.
this needs to be taken on a case by case basis and based on your reasoning and temperament here the more Christianity you introduce in a police department the merrier.

The best way is to find the plan God has for your life and walk it out, the hundreds and thousands of videos of police abusing the infinitesimally small amount of worldly authority they have sought and acquired is an example of those who were never intended by our Creator to seek their own worldly lust for power and control of others, that is the adversaries realm.(y):):coffee:

Although I have my disagreements with Law enforcement (specifically the enforcement of unjust laws, and a corrupt court system) , Some chapters in the bible imply that it's ok to be in that field. Romans 13 is the best example I can think of pertaining to the police, and it says (not a direct quote) that they're are ordained by God to restrain evil (obviously) and do good (sometimes true, sometimes not true). The problem is the enforcement of unjust laws, and a court system that doesn't do the right thing all the time, so can a Christian really consider a job with his or her local department ? Knowing that in the future Christians will be persecuted (and possibly killed), can someone uphold a system that would do that ?
If the system is corrupt I think law enforcement can only benefit by having Christians on board. Bringing light to the darkness, Conscience amid the unconscionable.

Without question, most cops I know place their faith in Jesus Christ.

I do question.
Since most who claim to be Christian merely have a mental assent to the teaching and not a personal relationship that receives and walks out His guidance in our lives.

With all do respect, that's simply not enough. Christians in law enforcement is a good thing, but I don't see them standing up for what's right and I surely don't see them attempting to preach the word of god throughout their department.

Are you a cop? On another note, if you truly want to be respectful to me and others, you’ll start capitalizing God.

That's not at all fair. You don't observe every precinct in America. And you're not aware that every force has a chaplain.

May God rebuke and destroy the Satanic movement, "Defund the Police".

Christians are meant to be salt and light. Salt is a preservative and light dispels darkness. I know a Christian who was in the police force in Australia. His issues were with the leadership of the force, not the job itself.

Law enforcement is a tough job. However, I don't believe Christians should automatically reject it as a career. If we rejected jobs on the basis of how righteous the business was, we'd find it near impossible to get a job!

That's a generalisation that is unfair. How many Christians in ordinary work preach to their departments? In most of my jobs, preaching was a sacking offence. The idea of work is to work. By all means be the best and most diligent worker there. Be the best example morally and ethically. If the opportunity arises at a break, witness if you can.

We are required to find the plan He has for our lives and walk it out, my experience with law enforcement is many seek power and authority over others, the very people you don't want to have power and authority over others. That is a part of why law enforcement is a hard job.

No I'm not a cop, But i HIGHLY doubt that the police are preaching the word of god to every person they arrest and put in jail.

I'm sure that some police forces probably do have some "christian like" part to them. But I really don't believe that every police department is doing the right thing. As for as defunding the police, well i support that in a way that makes sense, such as cutting funding from corrupt departments and giving it to other departments that could use more funding. But otherwise i agree, the whole defund/abolish the police movement is a terrible (and unbiblical) idea.

Following the leading of the Spirit seldom if ever involves "preaching god to every person they put in jail", being in the right place at the right time to show Jesus love and compassion is more like it.

I never said cops are preaching on the beat or that they should. I said most cops I know place their faith in Christ. On another note you continue to not capitalize God, so are you without faith, disrespectful or both?

What do you mean "not capitalize God" ?
