yes exactly there’s no doctrine or instruction for “Excorcosm “

but simply the one filled with the Holy Ghost , commanded spirits out of people

“And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭16:18‬ ‭KJV‬‬

sort of it’s just the Holy Spirit in a person that has the authority over an evil spirit

so like Jesus Paul just said go by the holy spirit and the spirit went …..
Yeap and notice there was no guessing or experimenting. He knew the lady was possessed. Granted in this case, this woman was doing supernatural things.

I agree. Most unbelievers are NOT demon possessed. No Born Again Believers are demon possessed.

It is common among the homeless street people. The world will only recognize it as mental issues. But they are guessing because they can't prove it most of the time with any kind of medical science. And they can't cure them. Medication can put them catatonic but they're still demon possessed.

Very few have the faith to cast them out today. They say they do, but not many will try.

Even those who believe in casting out devils don't seem to eager to try.

They would rather meet with a bunch of believers and give it lip service and pretend to be doing it while believers pretend to be getting delivered so that they can all make it look like something is happening. They spend too much time trying to make what they are doing fit into what they read in the bible when everyone knows that is not what the bible was talking about.

They should go street preaching and they will get the chance to cast out real demons.

That's my gut feeling about all this. I could be wrong. But I probably am not. :) I do believe in casting out demons of real demon possessed people and you can find them on the streets and in prisons more often than you will a spirit filled church. Those people in that Spirit Filled church are demon possessed they are just Flaky Christians that seem to have no discernment. And I am not talking about the gift of discerning of spirit which is a good thing to have when casting out demons, but I mean that these flaky Christians don't seem to have natural common sense discernment.

Every church has them. We tolerate them and try to help them out but we know that the elevator does not go all the way to the top and we know that they will go from one fad to the next never seeming to get smarter from past mistakes. The Y2K crowd. Going from one emotional hyped crisis to the next never acknowledging that they were wrong about the previous craziness they got caught up in.
Do you have the discernment to know who on the streets has a demon or demons? Is it just outward expression that objectively tells you or some inner urging by the Holy Spirit? It is a gift of the Spirit but according to Paul all gifts can be practiced if we seek them. Is it all in the realm of faith why we may not try to seek out all the gifts?

Generally speaking I think that what you have stated is how it works.

I believe that as we learn to operate in the power of the Holy Spirit to witness we will learn how by obeying the prompting of the Spirit when to step out in faith and cast out a demon. And these experiences hone our discernment.

But we must first GO and get in the front lines of evangelism. And we must pray and receive Power from on High. We don't always need to have it all figured out first. Just faith in what the word says and boldness to preach the Gospel. Then get ready... demons will show up and we can cast them out. You will know them when you see them.

They might even say... "I know who you are... you are a Holy Man" or something like that. Do what Jesus did. Tell them to come out in the name of Jesus. Then when they are in their right mind, pray with them to get saved and see if you can get them help to get off the streets. Adult and Teen Challenge is a great option. You can get them onto a bus and into a center that day.

I plan to start a street ministry next year that will focus on the heroin addicts nodding in the streets. I will be working with Teen Challenge centers to get them into a center when I find those who are ready to make a change. I expect plenty of demonic activity to show up when we do this.

I'm a bit confused by your comment in red, are you saying that people who "speak in tongues" are possessed, because you write "Christians can be attacked but not posessed."

Were the disciples "possessed" who were baptised in the Spirit (filled with the Spirit) on the Day of Pentecost, with the evidence of "speaking in tongues", or Cornelius and his family/friends when they had the same experience as Peter and the rest of the 120, had in the Upper Room? Acts 2v1-4, 10v43-44.
No that is not what i am saying. I am saying Christians can be attacked but not posessed as for the speaking in tongues the devil likes to mimic and mock God so demons like to mimic tongues as a way to mock the gifts of the spirit

There is some truth here. I have found at times I will start to pray in tongues at the urging of the Holy Spirit and my attention will be drawn to someone or a situation and I would add that I believe God wants me to be aware of it.

Here is something that happened to me some years back. My husband and I were strolling along a waterfront boardwalk and there was a woman in front of us. She turned all of a sudden, gave me a kind of sick smile and then turned and continued on. I can't say if I had prayed or not or paid attention to a nudge in my spirit. The next morning, I woke up unable to walk properly. Immediately that woman came to mind and I understood that she knew I was a Christian in the same manner a Christian might be warned of someone with a demonic spirit. In her case, it was not the Holy Spirit.

Long story short, it was the 2nd time I had some odd physical thing happen to me and in the other case, I had allowed a 'Christian' to pray over me when I had a cold even though I knew she did not have a truthful spirit about her. I just wanted to give her a chance and be nice, she had asked me if she could pray over me and God had already told me not to allow people to do that sort of thing and in her case I had realized she was trouble with a capital T. The next morning my back was in spasm and that had never happened before. I could hardly move for the pain.

Neither episode happened again and they did not last long. But when God tries to warn you about something and you know better and you have been trained to listen, yet you do not listen, you might suffer harm for it. Not God doing the harming, but the people He told you were not right in their spirit to begin with.

These things are real and I have warned others when moved to do so and I have not been wrong yet. I did not choose to have this gift, but it did begin to operate in my life years back. Things are not the same when you operate in the world with the Holy Spirit as He has in the past, does in the present and will in the future. I don't go around looking for trouble either. I am actually more like some innocent in the woods who needs a big sign saying DANGER DANGER to warn them.

Yeah but is all of it? That is the gray area I speak of. Are all suicides because of demon possession? Is all cases where people cut themselves demon possession? Schizophrenia? Etc. How do you know?
It is not for us to deal in generalities. If you encounter a specific individual who is showing such tendencies, you need to ask yourself what the problem might be. Keep in mind that mental health "professionals" totally ignore spiritual factors, and resort to meds (which in the end do nothing to solve the problem),

Insanity is probably caused by demons. But then again, who is behind all the protests to kill infants and babies? A picture was published recently on a conservative web site which appeared to show a demon in the midst of these insane protestors. There is no question that sexual perversion (LGBTQ) has demons behind it. The whole Transgender movement is sick to the core.

Sounds about right to me. I don't personally agree with all the addressing principalities and so on that have been so popular in the past. I have not found where we are instructed in scripture into any such activity. If anything, things are getting worse and the prince of the power of the air will continue as he is until God draws the curtains on him and all who belong to him.

I mean Jesus could have kicked the devil into outer space never to return. But He did not. He simply addressed that liar with the truth of the word and the devil left, for a season and we know when he returned in the form of Judas. But God planned that all along although Jesus said it was in God's plan but woe to the one who enacted it.

I do not operate in probably. To me it has to be either or. Black or white. I do not do gray. If it is gray then I keep studying until it either moves to white, black or unknown.

Demonic influence with abortion is definitely real. We easily see evil in action everyday but that isn't the same as demonic oppression. If it is then every unbeliever needs an exorcism. Right?

disobedience produces its own reward. Tongues are found in 1cor chapters 12, 13, and 14. The book of Acts chapter 2.

I see and know the textbook examples but people have different interpretations.

My understanding without having no personal experience or seeing it, is the Bible.

At Pentecost they all spoke in different languages so people from all nations heard their own language.

Then Paul speaks uttering mystery only between him and God.

In church structure he says in less there be an interpreter the one speaking in tongues should be silent in church. If there is an interpreter then each one should take turns speaking.

So in this context I have not experienced this.

I already stated that is it NOT God who caused me pain but rather my own lack of listening. I knew not to let that person pray over me but I did not pay attention to the woman in front of me. I have had probably more than your average believer when it comes to certain kinds of 'experiences' which would actually line up with the gifts of the spirit God has seen fit to give me. We do not choose which gifts we have but we are told to pray for certain gifts. I pray for discernment because of all the deception in this world which gets worse just about daily and that applies to churches and other believers. We do not all walk in truth and I am not pointing anywhere when I say that. It is just a simple fact.

If there would be one thing I fear, it would be walking on and believing I am in God's will when I have gone the wrong way.

Speaking in tongues.

I am surprised you would ask given the amount of threads in this forum having that topic up for debate (usually turning into rough and tumble fights which do no one any good)

Acts 2:4
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Mark 16:17
“And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues.”

1 Corinthians 14:2
For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit.

1 Corinthians 12:1–31
English Standard Version

Spiritual Gifts
12 Now mconcerning1 spiritual gifts,2 brothers,3 I do not want you to be uninformed. 2 You know that nwhen you were pagans oyou were led astray to pmute idols, however you were led. 3 Therefore I want you to understand that qno one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus is raccursed!” and sno one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit.
4 Now tthere are varieties of gifts, but uthe same Spirit; 5 and vthere are varieties of service, but uthe same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is uthe same God who empowers them all in everyone. 7 wTo each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8 For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of xwisdom, and to another the utterance of yknowledge according to the same Spirit, 9 to another zfaith by the same Spirit, to another agifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another bthe working of miracles, to another cprophecy, to another dthe ability to distinguish between spirits, to another evarious kinds of tongues, to another fthe interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, gwho apportions to each one individually has he wills.
One Body with Many Members
12 For just as ithe body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, jso it is with Christ. 13 For kin one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—lJews or Greeks, slaves4 or free—and mall were made to drink of one Spirit.
14 For the body does not consist of one member but of many. 15 If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? 18 But as it is, nGod arranged the members in the body, each one of them, oas he chose. 19 If all were a single member, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts,5 yet one body.
21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22 On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, 24 which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, 25 that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. 26 If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, pall rejoice together.
27 Now qyou are the body of Christ and individually rmembers of it. 28 And sGod has appointed in the church first tapostles, second uprophets, third teachers, then vmiracles, then wgifts of healing, xhelping, yadministrating, and vvarious kinds of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30 Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? 31 But zearnestly desire the higher gifts.
And I will show you a still more excellent way.

I am not trying to turn this thread away from your op but this subject usually flares into a fire fight. Therefore, I am only including verses and let each one decide, before God prayerfully, whether or not they wish to ask of God their own part in the gifts.

There are other scriptures on this subject as well.

I don't know the man so I can't speak to that. Yet Christ did tell us.. " And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

Now for me I am one who believes and have the power the authority the right to cast out demons. I do speak with new tongues.. I have never taken up serpents :) nor drank any deadly thing (unless I did and praise GOD He kept His word and it didn't hurt me) and I by faith in that name lay hands on the sick and they recover.

So this man can in my eyes be doing this. Is Christ coming in the flesh dying on the Cross was buried rose the 3rd day the only way to the Father being preached? Satan can not cast out Satan.

How about this source?

Thayer's and Smith's Bible Dictionary

I mean most of these books are like $100 plus so trying to find free material if possible. I'll buy one if necessary for my library but I try not to waste money.

Do you pay for the Bible gateway interlonear tool? It says I have to pay.
I don't know about the Bible Dictionary, and I haven't ever had Bible Gateway ask for money, so that's news to me.

Well I hope I didn't shock anyone too badly.:cautious::unsure:
I debated with myself about responding. You see I don't believe that anyone can put a spell on me or cause me to suffer any kind of physical ailment. Unless they hit me in the face with a hammer of course. :)

I think that people deceive themselves into thinking these things. It is superstition.

And even if they had such power they can't harm a believer.

Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

I have been around Voodoo practitioners and tarot card readers who tried to scare me with hexes and chalk drawings and spells and curses and probably chicken bones they had on their tables down in New Orleans, and I never once needed to even talk about it with God.

Never had to "come against" these curses. They were simply the vain imaginations of the people who thought they were real. There was nothing to them and even if there were I am the authority when I come on the scene in the name of Jesus and all the devils know it.

One time a tarot card reader came at me muttering curses and as she got closer to me I saw she had one of those small tazers like you purchase from a gas station, I took out a large one I bought from a gun shop that I was carrying for protection, and set it off for noise effect and she stopped in her tracks, turned around and walked back to her tarot card table and shut up.

It was quite a scene. A Tazer show down. I never did "pray against" her spells and curses, nor was I ever harmed in any way.

I would have rebuked her in the name of Jesus if she had gotten any closer but that tazer she had made me get ready for a physical altercation so the first thing I thought about was "I bet mine cost more than yours" and that is what I said when I pulled it out and made it buzz. It lit up the night and echoed off the buildings. Her eyes got big as suacers and all the voodoo went right out of her in an instant. She lost all confidence in her incantations and walked briskly back to her table with her head down all quite and subdued.

I probably should have cast the devil out of her then but it all happened rather quickly there was a small crowd who saw it and couldn't believe what they had seen.

Why do you not take up serpents and drink poison?

What do you mean by laying hands they are healed?

What are new tongues?

And how do you cast out demons?

Satan will not divide his kingdom this is true but it could be just a show and play on emotions for money.

I was wondering because it seems you were connecting a physical pain to disobedience. What made you think it wasn't just natural pain?

I asked about tongues because people have different interpretations and what was the origin of your gift? How did it manifest?

and there is nothing that says demons were created because of Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. As you suggest.
Well we know the spirit of devils are the three in dragon's mouth in Revelation. When does Satan ever breathe out the three evil spirits? Well he does in the Garden in Genesis. He also had a breath of life, being himself an animal created by God. Spirit means breath. Before this even there is nothing bad in the world there's no lies, everything was created in truth by God. Then the serpent tells the three lies and the woman gets possessed by him because she believes what he tells her, the lies overran her mind. Satan will never be forgiven either.
