Well my first drop down into the forums apart from the greet the newbies.

Confidence inspired by who we are in Jesus is good. Self confidence is humans strength so not really something I look for in a person

The Devil would have been very confident he was winning

I feel that I got so much wrong with me, that I don't see anyway of fixing it all. But maybe if I manage to get a new job this summer. The might help me feel better.
Even confident people "have so much wrong with them"

I'm confident, to the point my husband says I have an intimidating presence - especially men find me "intimidating", he says. However, I'm quick to admit when I make a mistake and spend my life in a state of learning and self improvement, always willing to learn from others, and always try and keep in mind what my weaknesses are and make allowance for them.

I would describe it as having comfort in my own skin, and my abilities. It's not arrogance, arrogance is something different altogether.

Arrogance says I can do no wrong. Confidence knows it will make mistakes, and is willing to learn from those too.

Confidence is just being comfortable in your own skin, and it's as attractive as it is intimidating.

maybe confidence is more hopeful and optimistic than being unconfident

i.e you think things will work out -optimistic

as opposed to always thinking things will go wrong -pessimistic

so more of an attitude?

I think ppl enjoy being around those who are more optimistic and hopeful - they are more inspiring

than those who put themselves down or are doom and gloom all the time

I dont think its even neccessarily about yourself, but just your attitude about life

So, I have a supermarket near me that I literally go to every day because it's only about 2 minutes from my house, and it carries the items that I'm actually looking for (and at a good price, too).

Well, unbeknownst to me until recently, one of my 16-year-old daughter's friends who is a male works there, and he apparently sees me come into the store rather frequently.

He recently told my daughter that he's afraid of me, and that I have "a menacing walk".

I was like "WHAT?!?"

"A menacing walk"?

I'm just a happy-go-lucky (just a phrase...I don't believe in luck) sort of guy who just struts along in a very casual manner.

Anyhow, she and he have had some back and forth since I expressed my initial shock at what he said, and he's sticking to his guns.

I guess that people just see other people however they see them...even if it's in no way an actual reflection of who or what they are.

Ready for the big shocker?

My daughter just told me a couple of days ago that she agrees with him. Yep. She said that she'd be afraid of me, too, if I wasn't her father.

Whatever...

I think kids are often fearful souls.. all the young kids at my husband's former employer were terrified of being put on his team because they were terrified of him when he first got the job...

Getting to know a person always manages to change the outlook. Those same kids that were begging not to be put on DH's team are now as close to us as our own children, would do anything for him and he doesn't even work there anymore.

would have anything to do with body type you think?

eg...ppl might be afraid of Samson since he was big and muscly but when his hair was cut off he became as weak as a kitten

I recall in high school I was afraid of my dean because she was actually a body builder, and I thought she would crush me or somethng with her bare hands haha but actually she was a nice lady

Just liked body building (its kind of like a sport..?) but that was just her physical appearance. Like arnold schwarzngger. Hes not really the Terminator. He a friendly actor playing a role. Or..the Rock
