Basically everyone in the developed world uses social media now and most of these nations are more liberal/more secular/God-less than the United States. However, these countries have very low gun violence so we cannot blame social media and more God-lessness entirely, otherwise these countries would have similar rates of gun violence but they don't. No one wants to admit but it is access to guns that is causing gun related death.

What has changed since the 50s (at least in the US) is that young men decided to use guns rather than get into fist fights or (bring a knife) after school. There were way more fist fights back then, any old movie shows this. I really don't know why they decided to use guns, perhaps because fist fights may be considered felonies now. Even drunk driving is considered way more serious now. Maybe these newer laws are putting limits on how younger men express themselves, so they turn to guns.

I do think social media helps fuel isolation, and there is definitely a correlation between increase in social media use and increase in gun violence. So, increase in social media and access to guns may not be a good mix.

But, most people are not fine with banning social media as that would be an infringement in free speech, etc. There is a definitely a mix of reasons causing gun violence, but I think it is inaccurate to put no fault on access to guns at all.

I do not believe there is any way to not include the fact that US started supporting abortion . Showing a deep devaluation of human life

Other countries have abortions and infanticide but very low to no gun violence. It is access to guns. On the other hand there are other countries like Guatemala which basically ban all abortions, and there is a lot of gun and gang violence.

I do not believe it id the access to guns. I believe it is the evil that is it the world . Guns were easy access in 1950 . Evil that is in mans heart. Other that that there is no way to disagree with your point.

I said this:

There are many crazy people in the world. They exist.
‘The difference is that here in US, a crazy person can easily get a high powered weapon and cause more death very quickly compared to other places in the world.

It’s as simple as that.

Guns are the issue. This is why Guns NOT people were banned at the NRA Trump meeting.

and then you said this:

Can you tell me about a gun killing anyone ? That nasty ol gum just bounced into the school as fired at its will . That gun took aim and fired. Guns are nasty like that

Where does the logic follow?

But if guns are for protection, then why were they banned at the Trump NRA meeting?
You know, you really need to give that a rest....
they were banned at that social gathering for the same reason they are banned at concerts, sporting events, school functions, in court houses, the list goes on.
You are trying (and failing) to make it into something it is not.... do you really think that concealed carry weapons are allowed at any kind of event featuring nearly ANY politician, much less a former POTUS.... ?

Trying to make it "something" because it involved the evil NRA.... your intentions are painfully obvious.

This is about the logic and the programming that all gun-loving people have.
Guns are not the issue. People are.
‘Well, why do we block them at the social gatherings you mentioned then?
Because we know Guns are the issue don’t we?
This sad moral situation in America can expose the problem of guns too because we didn‘t have this problem before.
Also as others have mentioned here in this topic, these sad family situation exists elsewhere too but they don’t pick up an AR and mow down 20 people. Why? Because they can’t get guns like we do that’s why !

Because the people behind the guns have intent, some to do good and some to do evil. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.[/QUOTE]

Nope. a gun all by itself does nothing . Let me think . How many cars kill people is more Fords or more Chevys? Those ugly knives that find folks to stab.. Those hands dont have a clue where the people are but those hands that strangle my goodness how do we blame those hands . Lets remember the poison that finds its way to the guys drink.. Odd guess we should not put people in Jail .. Just store up cars, knives, hands. poison then we could be safe.. Dumb huh?

So bad intent is maximized when using a tool then? Like a gun? Which can do damage pretty fast? That‘s why it’s banned in large social gatherings?

Boston Marathon bombing, two, count 'em two guys planted two homemade pressure cooker bombs. Look at what they were able to do. People with intent will find a way.

So the NRA meetings have metal detectors then, to block people from bringing knives and pressure cookers.
‘Maybe we need metal detectors in schools then, to discourage the usage of these “tools”?

Metal detectors are in courts the kids are at least as important. First parents need to be teaching their kids , Christian parents should be ashamed sending their gifts from God to the lions dens

For most of my nephews school lives they were in Christian school or home schooled. They were home during the pandemic. They are in public school because they are nearing college. But my sister said if they don't have good grades she will pull them again and teach them herself.

We agree that parents need to do more and the country needs better morals as I’ve said earlier but here’s another question.

When the secret service or the courts say “no guns through these metal detectors”and they get to keep their guns, why are you okay with this but not okay when other people in government say “let’s limit some guns”?

I guess you guys are not understanding the question. Okay let’s try again.

The government at a courthouse for example says that No Guns are allowed at the building and you have to go through metal detectors to strip you of anything dangerous. In the mean time all the government employees there such as police get to keep their guns.

‘Why are you okay with that and not okay when congress says “Let’s limit some guns”?
