Question. Do Christians use the word sometimes too much? I hear this general sentence structure a ton from us Christians..

Sometimes we *fill in the blank observation* when we really need to *fill in the blank suggest thing to do*.

Not that it matters..just an observation...

Maybe sometimes we need to find a word to replace sometimes when we really need a new buzz word..

You'll hear it sometime in the future then remember this post. That's all I can say...

Sometimes we don't understand things, but then later when we see it we do understand.

I have to admit to being too dense to really understand what's being asked!! I was hoping other people's posts would enlighten my dull mind...

Alas. My axe definitely needs sharpening!! (Ecc. 10:10)

What I think he means is this:

Do you think christians use scripture too much to lay guilt and shame on people when they should really be giving suggestions as to how they can solve their problem.

Ok what do I win????? :D

Are you asking if we use the word "sometimes" too often in our responses to other peoples questions?

For example: A person says they are struggling with sin and then we post back saying "That sometimes the best thing to do in those situations are to pray." Instead of coming right out and saying "You need to pray about that."

So, instead of just giving an observation of what we think should be done in different situations, we should instead give direct suggestions of what needs to be done in certain situations.

I probably totally missed the mark with that. But that is what I got out of what I thought you were asking.

Lol i'm shocked this is so puzzling to some..ok I provided this as a template statement with the word sometimes inserted as an example of our over use...

template example --->Sometimes we *fill in the blank observation* when we really need to *fill in the blank suggest thing to do.*

Here are actual statements as examples.....

Sometimes we're waiting for God to bring us the one, when God is saying we need to get up and find the one...

Sometimes we think we need more rules to get rid of sin, when we really need to pray for a changed heart.

Sometimes we beat ourselves up because we don't accomplish everything, when really we need to quit being hard on ourselves.

------

So I guess I see Christians using this same thought and sentence structure a lot! It's just one of them oddities I've picked up on. Guess no one else has...*shrugs* Although next time you hear someone start out a sentence with 'sometimes', you WILL remember this post..

Oh I see the confusion. I mean the literal use of the word 'sometimes'. Not that we use God's word too much.

It scares me a lil bit that I understood you at the crack of the bat, Stilly :)

Since typed opinions can easily be taken the wrong way, perhaps it's just a way of softening the tone. If you read the example gypsytraveler typed, you can see how it might do that. Getting to the point is great, but it can make one appear callous or abrupt at times. Just a thought...
