My favorite things are finding natural cures or remedies for what are body needs. Love yogurt helps alot with arthritis , allergies, your digestive system and immune system. I recently started using more greek yogurt. It is substitute for sour cream. it is very versatile can use in a casserole or dessert. Definitely gives food a wow factor sometimes.

I like the plain yogurt (not Greek). I put it on my rice. I also like the fruit flavored ones (esp. peach and mango).

I used to buy yoghurt just because the probiotics are good for you, but a lot of the time
I would end up throwing some or most of the container away, because I could never finish
it before it started going moldy. I do not have that problem any more. I do like plain Greek
yoghurt, and have used it in cooking before also, but more recently have really taken a liking
to black cherry yoghurt. Gone are the days of throwing half-eaten tubs of yoghurt in the garbage.
Now when I open a tub of yoghurt, it is often the case that I will eat the whole thing! What changed?

Oh, and by "eat the whole thing," I mean in one sitting :giggle:

I eat Greek yogurt every day. Not so much for any health-related purposes/benefits, but simply because I like it. Normally, there's some strawberries or blueberries in it, but I'll settle for raspberries (whether red or black) when my local supermarket is out of the other two.

I eat fruit-bottom yogurt because I like it. I buy the little tubs. My son told me that it was cheaper to buy the larger tubs. I told him no it wasn't. I eat way more out of large tubs. Small tubs last longer. When it comes to yogurt, buying small tubs is my form of self-control.

I hope this isn't off-topic, but what makes Greek yogurt Greek?

I've read that it's supposedly healthier than "plain" yogurt, but I was wondering why?

It has more proteins and less sugar. I like either one.

Isn't it also thicker? Some yoghurts are very thin. Gelatin and/or
starches are added to some. I like yoghurt that holds its shape :D

I love any type of yogurt, but every time I eat it I get severely bloated. Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

I have some friends that have that issue. But many of them are lactose intolerant.

Some of the whey is drained off of it. So it's a bit more concentrated.

And as far as less sugar? Don't buy that line of lies.
Lactose is the natural sugar in milk. And the yogurt factory here goes through NonFatDryMilk (NFDM) by the palletizing bag. The local yogurt factory makes EVERYONE 's yogurt....from Kroger to 2Good and especially Yoplait. I put in the production line for 2Good and the type of flat squat cups they (and others) use.

Now....you can make that yogurt at home yourself quite easily. Sterilize the milk and containers and use a tablespoon or more of the last of your yogurt to start the cultures in your new batch you are making.

Add some NFDM and viola....you got Greek yogurt. Add sugar and fruit and away you go. Recipes should be online everywhere for how to make yogurt.

They used to advertise for a free government catalog in Pueblo Colorado that has all kinds of information on the preservation of food (and other things) that you can ask for on pamphlets detailing the process. It's complete with all the juicy details.

I think that is why I like greek yogurt. Can be used in so many different things. I was thinking about making yogurt pops soon. Eating habits as I get older change for the good of my body. I have lost 20 lb.s in last few weeks. Training for a mud run.

Greek yogurt has too much protein at times.
If you mix Greek yogurt and skim milk and the seasoning packet for ranch dressing you will figure it out quick because of all the tiny grainy lumps of protein. But if you use regular yogurt it will come out smooth and creamy....not even noticing that it's completely fat free.

Just a hint of something to try.

I have switched from black cherry yogurt to Chapman's Blackjack / cherry and chocolate frozen yogurt.

It has ginormous chunks of black cherries in it, miniature chocolate cherry cups, and slivers of dark chocolate
in a swirl of chocolate and cherry frozen yogurt. I have a bowl of that almost every single day
.:giggle:. A reason for
not having it every single day is sometimes I run out LOL If I had room in my freezer for more than one tub at
a time, that would happen less frequently!!!
.:D The probiotics are still active in frozen yogurt... I checked . ;)

Try eating a papaya pill when you eat yogurt. You may find them in the vitamin section at Wal-Mart.
