This thread could drive someone to drink.
You'll have to drive as I gave up my license a few years ago. Come to think of it, I don't drink anymore either! We'll have to do something another time!

It's not the only one.
I can't holdback any longer - I must ask you this question.

Scripture tells us, as believers, that we are to share the Gospel message with everyone. Those we know and those that are our enemies. Indeed we are to forgive our enemies, even if they do not forgive us. Our primary concern is with the Eternal state of the listener - not their earthly state.

So why do you have a worldly weapon of war as your post tag?

No idea what you're talking about.

What exactly are you, um, arguing in favor of?

Jesus being a Nazarite at the time of His crucifixion?

He would have been made unclean by the presence of the thieves on the crosses either side of him when they died.
Ahhh yes...but if Jesus died before them (because he was...spear to the side proved that) Then he was already gone.
Elvis had already left the building.

And if Jesus was hairless on the road to Emmaus....that would make it difficult to recognize him.

And that would satisfy the requirements of the Nazarite Vows....and He being the High Priest himself didn't go before the Temple or Tabernacle which are just shadows of the REAL THING....He went to the real one in Heaven.

He, himself the sin offering.

Suffice to say, if it wasn't fortified it wasn't called wine.

Also, I think we have to stay away from the subjective humanist implication that says , consuming alcohol leads to drunkenness.

This is not the case in a culture as strict as early Jews were in honoring God's word and laws.

While consuming wine was better and often more probable than that of water due to scarcity and hygiene.
They called EVERYTHING the "blood of the grape"....which was translated as wine.

Sometimes the "fruit of the vine" but not very often.

Your reasoning is all subjective in your post. I for one try in everyway to stay away from subjective or humanistic view points.

Scripture does not say what was wrong with Timothy and we should not try to figure it out by our own reasoning. Just except it as given. Human reason generally leads to error. The question was - did Christ consume alcoholic wine? The Scripture says yes.

Any thing consumed in moderation - like wine - is not sin and no one is trying to get a buzz on. (Hopefully). If you don't like wine then fine but don't judge others. Red wines are well known for aiding digestion.
I think we are supposed to ascertain authorial intent when we read scripture.

If we read from documents from the time and older, that they had been telling people not to drink the water but a little wine instead then we could know that Paul's instructions to Timothy were common knowledge.

Then we might naturally ask "but if it was so common why would Timothy need Paul to tell him?"

And maybe (conjecture that it might be, yet nevertheless based on the most logical reason) it was because Timothy needed "a green light" because he was committed to being a teetotaler, with total abstinence and this was probably common among NT saints.

As it is today.

Even there mere presence would have met that "criteria wouldn't it? As would their dying before or after himself?

Adding for others, there is a difference as we know between a Nazarine and a Nazarite.

Now a case can be made for the vinegar on the hyssop breaking the vow...but I'm thinking that it was allowed because it was finished at that time.

Everything? That's quite a broad implication.

Like that one who claimed Jesus never washed his hands. Nonsense.

He did refuse it.

All speculations aside, nothing in Scripture suggests Jesus took a Nazarite vow.

I am talking about this:

I' ve never heard a signature referred to as a post tag.

That? Is a generation 5 Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor fighter jet.
Featured as the "Gen5 Russian enemy" plane in the new Top Gun sequel, Maverick.

I'm an American Christian. Our national bird is the American Bald Eagle, not a chicken.

My God is a God of war when necessary and a prince of peace when possible. And I make no apologies for standing with our military against all enemies foreign and domestic in this one nation under God.

Nothing is so tragic as that which breathes freely while condemning that which makes it possible.
