Well they're not trying to "unseat God, as this is an unfalsifiable claim, meaning it's something that can't be proven or disproven.
Science is just trying to figure out how the universe works
Oh little Negan, what a misleading they've shown you into. Science is a methodology, not a body of people.

Actually what I meant to say is it sounds as if you think God can be unseated by a man-made machine.
If God is omnipotent then no worries right?
Not worried about God, I'm worried about little Negans.

I generally comprehend that, but the question remains fair, I think. The Cover of dozens of magazines trumpeted "The God Particle: The Secret to the Universe Unveiled" for years. That's into religion, imo. And that, right or wrong, is now part of the narrative. You can thank the editors at your favorite Science journal, or newstand rag, whatever.
But it's impossible to separate one's view of corporeal, from one's faith. No matter what the faith or cause of the actors, where the information is available for twisting, you can bet Satan will be there to make sure.

So again, did they build CERN to prove that God wasn't needed, that man could sum the universe by tools? Or no? Or yes but they failed?
It's hardly unfair, the OP speaks of blackholes and a Satanic Cartoon Rick and Morty.
Oh now I see what you’re saying here. Okay here are some high level points.

1. Science can also be used a type of religion for a few people. Obviously that’s also something taken to extreme.
2. Scientists usually are atheists but a few like Francis Collins are also Christians.
3. Many scientists in history have been believers. Now it’s not popular for them to believe because it’s a career-ending move.

With all that being said, science is basically us, people, trying to figure out how things work in this existence. So when you take all the extremes out and all the agendas and all the politics science remains a tool which glorifies the work of the Creator.

Do you agree or disagree with most of this?

I disagree with #2. Most of the world is not atheist, it makes no sense that most scientists would be.
Frankly, most people who claim to be scientists work as technicians playing inside creations halls. I can't think of many people who do pure testing day in and day out a.t.m.
But yes, I agree with your sentiment. We're only gonna end up proving what is Good, if it's allowed.

Don't cut yourself on all that edge over there.
And yes science is a methodology in which they try to make predictions based on observable evidence and repeatable results.
I never said science is a body of people so you just pulled that out of your hiney

lol, being concerned about sinners is edgy now? Satan getting you confused on whose operation?

Pretty sure they already tried this, and nothing happened. Guess that makes both the atheists and the new agers wrong and the hadron collider just a colossal expensive waste in the pursuit of a lie.

Not to worry! There are other things we can do with the equipment.

The thing about science is that it's real whether you believe it or not.
On the last test, they discovered four new subatomic particles

Here are a couple of interesting links about this subject of subatomic particles related to CERN.
First is the double-slit experiment. It’s a short 5-minute video.
Basically people thought that the fundamental building blocks are solid objects but extremely small. Turns out God’s Creation has many surprises in store. The particle can become a fluid or wave-like particle like the ocean or like water, or it can become solid like a golf ball DEPENDING on whether a conscious observer (like us) looks at it !
This is a great mystery.

The second link is a history of our journey in finding out what fundamental particles are. Interesting read for those who are interested in history and how we arrived at our current knowledge.

When you look into all the discoveries we’ve made, you can also make better educated guesses as to what the spiritual realm could be like and how some miracles might happen.

For example, taking into account what we know about the double-slit experiment we could say that God chose to reveal something extraordinary to 40,000 people in Portugal in 1917 in what is known as The Miracle of Fatima.
Because The Sun did not move out of orbit for the whole galaxy and other people in the world. But it moved for these people.
So they were shown some imagery which could also be the same as explaining the imagery of what John saw for the apocalypse. God revealed a realm which is hidden from us and only a Creator has the power to show us what we need to see according to His will.

In trying to answer what realms are and what they might be, the answer to that might partially be in what the universe is made up of.
70% is dark energy, 26% is dark matter and only 4% is matter which we are made of that we can see, feel and touch. This is also a great mystery. The majority of the universe cannot be seen by us. So maybe this is where some of these other realms might exist.
I personally think that God exists everywhere inside and outside of this universe but even inside our universe there may be hidden realms.

All of this can also bring some unification with people like me who doesn’t take the 6-day Creationism literally and for other who take it literally. Because as others have mentioned “God may have stretched the heavens to make it appear old”.
This is consistent with the double slit experiment and it’s also consistent with the ingredients of the Universe seen and unseen.
So all this does is glorifies the work of The Creator.

Don't remember anywhere in the Bible where it says we're not supposed to try to figure out how stuff works. Demonizing science will turn us into a third world country

This thing is 16 mi all the way around. The maintenance workers ride bicycles
You do NOT want to try to ride no-hands. If you lose control you could crash into some very expensive stuff.

Particle physics and something that goes over my head it's fascinating stuff
They're looking for something called the Higgs boson which they believe is the most base subatomic particle that basically holds the universe together
But there are all matters of cuckoo conspiracy theory saying they are going to open a black hole and destroy the universe or open portals to another dimension like on Rick and Morty or something
Billions spent chasing the best part of nothing, while people starve, diseases flourish and many still do not have running water. Good old science, the world's money pit trying to prove.......... what?

Not interested in that poop conspiracy theories here. There's an entire forum here for that
But this exact mentality is why America is gradually turning into a third world country because people have such a disdain for science
I believe it was Thomas Jefferson who said why would God give us intellect and expect us to forgo its use?
Thanks about as much sense as saying if God wanted me to fly he would have given me wings?
If you ever considered the fact that he gave us intellect to figure out how to build machines to fly?
Also subatomic particles are still a thing regardless of if a deity does or doesn't exist
Science was once the field of believers, who believed that Gods created all things and that research was uncovering the mysteries of the glory of God. Now much science is predicated on the assumption that there is no God. I'm all for cancer research or for ways to improve health and well being. CERN and it's like are of zero practical value. Likewise the pursuit of evidence for dark matter and dark energy. All it does is give someone the opportunity to say "I was right!" while collecting a million for the Nobel prize. Science is like every human pursuit, some good, some evil - just like the Tree of knowledge in Eden. For sure it is not God's way.

Also note that CERN's symbol is three 6s

looks like five 9's to me . . . ??

or, well before you put the number-idea in my head, it just looked like two particle accelerators.

Science was once the field of believers, who believed that Gods created all things and that research was uncovering the mysteries of the glory of God. Now much science is predicated on the assumption that there is no God.
all science is done on the basis of the belief that the universe has an ubiquitous & implicit order.
that's necessarily a matter of faith.

the truth is that it's about 50-50 split between people who study & work in sciences that believe this revealed order is evidence that the universe has a conscious Creator and people who don't. it's a very loud minority that are actively & vocally atheist. the Christians & other theists in the sciences are meeker, much quieter, and don't make good TV so you just never hear about them, or at least rarely.

our perception of 'science' as a body is skewed by two very vocal minorities, in fact:

  1. the relatively small number of devoted atheist scientists who write a lot of books and get a lot of media attention
  2. the relatively small number of Christians who think science is a pursuit of evil who write a lot of threads and books and get a lot of media attention.
