Have you ever questioned your beliefs and why they matter? As a believer in the Messiah, I would like to ask you a few questions and see for yourself if you can answer them honestly. The purpose of this thread is to see if your beliefs (and mine) matter for practical living and beyond.

1) Who is God? Please define who your God is in a few words.
2) Why are you here?
3) What is the purpose of your life?
4) Who do you believe and why?
5) Are you disappointed with your beliefs? Why? Why not?
6) Are you confident that your beliefs will carry you beyond this life? How so?

1. God to me is is like a caring father who wants good things for me and is teaching me how to better better. He encourages me when I’m making poor choices, when I’m feeling weak, and assures me that He’s with me through everything even if I’m being disciplined for something. He is nearest when my heart is broken, but doesn’t enable me to wallow in self-pity for long. No matter how many times I fall down, He gets me back on my feet and reminds me there is still work to do. Glory is not easy and I need to be a man. In the end He’ll save me.

2. Why am I on this website? Mostly here for learning purposes. Reading, learning, and discussing the Bible is something I’m passionate about and it’s also fun to me. The Bible is a hobby of mine, but is also one of my callings.

3. The purpose of my life is to do things that are pleasing to God. God delights in righteousness, acts of love, mercy, and compassion.

4. This question seems similar enough to the first question that I won’t elaborate as much about the who, but rather the why. I believe in the God of the Bible because in my experience He confirms the Bible which gives Him and the Bible credibility. If I couldn’t experience the Bible the way it says I should, with signs, spiritual gifts, and direct relationship with God then I would still believe that God exists, but I’d essentially still be looking for where God is exactly.

5. Not disappointed about my beliefs so far. It’s actually quite fun, exciting, and interesting having my beliefs about God. Most of the time it’s comforting, but it can be scary. It’s one thing to just read stories in the Bible, it’s another thing to experience them. Spiritual warfare is a real thing and it isn’t for the faint of heart.

6. Yes I’m confident my beliefs will carry me beyond this life. That’s just my faith. I’ve never experienced going beyond this life, I just take God’s word for it that what He promised is accurate. I don’t have a better explanation than faith on this point.

Sorry, but I have seen too many OP's where a lot of questions are asked but rarely any answers to their own questions are provided. Most of these types of threads were created with the express purpose of causing strife. No anwsers, no participation. Moving on to different thread now.

IMO question 4 was bordering on the ridiculous. That Budda reference was amusing though. Trusting in the government is laughable.

1. God is who he says he is "the great I Am...he is the GOD of the hebrews..the author of the bible. The Holy one of Israel.

2. God has placed me here for his pupose.

3. The purpose of this life is to tell and show others of a better one yet to come.

4. Christ is the one I believe. Proven to be the son of God. The life truth and way.

5. My beliefs grow stronger every day so no disappointment.

6. I trust the faithfulness ive found in CHRIST JESUS it is him that iam and shall be.

1 & 2) We are here to be recipients of God's eternal love, and to be His delegated authority on earth in order to bring forth His purpose throughout our lives. This is done by allowing the Spirit of Christ to lead us through the path He has chosen for us.

Just a quick note, being a believer in the Messiah by itself does not make one a Christian. E.g. Moslems also believe that Jesus is the Messiah and await the Second Coming.

1) God is the presence depicted in the Christian Bible. The Godhead is a Trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Apostles Creed and the Nicene Creed are a brief synopsis of who the Christian God is.

2) I'm here to learn, and I find a kind of joy finding other Christians to discuss things with even if we don't agree on all points.

3) To fulfil the path set before me, both that which has been revealed and that which has yet to be revealed

4) This questions can mean many things. What do you mean by it? I believe people will act according to their natures, and that we will see people's natures by their fruit. Are you asking whom I place trust in? I trust in that which is done from the heart. I trust in the goodness that shines through people into the world.

5) No. And as an aspect of authetic pride, unless someone is depressed or full of self-doubt, I don't think anyone would answer "yes" to this question. If someone were talking about past beliefs, that might be a different question because the past self can be seen as an external person. But like Paul reflecting on his time as Saul, were those trying times really without reason? or did they build his understanding into what it needed to be? So that he was able to speak from personal experience rather than secondary anecdote.

6) I have faith that the substance of my belief is correct even if the form is wrong. Life finds a way through love. Without Love there is no life. The question we should be asking isn't whether the procedure of our beliefs conform to a compelling understanding, but whether the substance of love within those beliefs is shining through. We are all dead without that love in our hearts. God is love

I would say that God is love. This is what I feel in my heart. This is confirmed in 1John.

My knowledge of the Lord began with the fear of the Lord. By this, I mean respect and not fear. From there, my understanding about God was knowing that He is love.

God always was and always will be and everything created obeys Him as to what He wants to do.

God is three separate entities, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit that comprise one God.

Jesus, under the authority of the Father, died for our sins so that we may have eternal life with God. The Holy Spirit comforts and guides us in the life-long repentance process.

God wants us to have life and have it more abundantly.

The Father has prepared work beforehand for me to accomplish by His grace. My purpose on earth is to humbly serve the Lord. It is my mission, first, last, always.
