Yes, but not until Christ returns. Remeber, He didn't come to give us peace, but to divide. There WILL be a world wide church soon, only problem is it won't be worshipping the true God any longer but the Instead of Christ soon CLAIMING to be God. WE are in the final generation. When you see the shoot and the leaves you know the harvest is coming. Like wise when you see famines and pestilences and false christs running around saying 'Christ is coming to get you first' when Christ Himself says don't believe them, THESE are the things we need to be telling the churches RIGHT NOW because very soon it will become the individual with gospel armor who will withstand the fiery darts of the who will make the 'world' will fall away from truth.

Imagine a TRULY supernatural being who has been given power over the earth, the best, the wisest, the prettiest being God created, coming to deceive and is so good at it, the time had to be shortened. That is intense. That is what I would say. Up until this final generation it was a different story. BUT the last will be first and the first will be last. That's a distinct people and purpose wouldn't you say?
Well, one can put that wherever they wish, friend, but I see it as counsel to those of us TODAY who read the Word of God as counsel for our own journey. God gave us discernment by examples, but clearly sets forth what we need to hold NOW. Some souls do not read the Word of God fully, and some do not read it all to get the fullness of it---"all the counsel of God" and "rightly dividing the Word of Truth" as He tells us. When we read the Epistles we learn of the intent of God for His testimony in the collective Church in the world, I am sure.
Satan, as the 'deceiver' as God says --a 'beguiler', is always whispering in our mind to disobey God and please ourselves (as Scripture makes clear of his workings). God is surely separating faithful Christians to ones who are "carnal" (which He disdains, and who will forfeit much at the Judgment Seat of Christ in Heaven). Let us remember the rewards there are: "Gold; silver; precious stones" for faithful and obedient saints; and "wood, hay, and stubble" for the carnal saints who barely entered in (being only feebel believers).
Well, we can all choose how we will honor God!

It's pretty funny when a person states tongues are no more but then proceeds to state they had a conversation with God.

Seriously?
Do you not know the difference between speaking gibberish and conversing with God? Seriously?

So I decided that cessationist are right. The Bible is " that which is perfect" for when gifts will cease. Now we know how to pray and live. I was a pentecostal for most of my life. But I find that if I ask in prayer the one giving tongues is an evil spirit. You've got to be careful. Not every spirit is of God. Try the spirits.
LOL

Too bad you decided, it would have been more effective if the Bible had agreed with you. To which No cessationist has proof from the word of God. That, I might add, is the only authority on the topic if you agree or not :) Enjoy.

Do you know the difference between holding a believable discourse and getting angry because someone pointed out the ironic post you made?

You cannot understand scripture and state that tongues are not of God and in the next minute say you conversed with God

Frankly, I don't believe you at all when you say God told you that

you reject actual scripture and then claim you had extra-biblical revelation. can't make this stuff up

Tongues (languages spoken supernaturally) would have ceased when the Bible was completed, so by the end of the first century. Why would they return when the reason for this gift was in the past? Modern tongues (glossolalia) are not biblical tongues (glossais).
I agree with you Brother!

how can you make such a blanket statement when we know that Speaking in Tongues is speaking [[((MYSTERIES))]]?

1 Corinthians 14:2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for [[no man understandeth]] him; howbeit in the spirit he [[speaketh ((mysteries))]].

if we are Speaking to God, and no man can understand because it is a Mystery, how can you ask if we know a difference?

what is being Spoken to God is a Mystery only God can understand.
if i am not able to understand it, how can i know a difference when the MYSTERY being Spoken through me could be something i already said in English, but God wanted no one else to know what i said and gave me the Utterance to Speak it in a Mystery?

Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as ((the Spirit)) [[gave them utterance]].

I agree with you Brother!
do you believe because this is what your Pastor taught?

it cannot be because you've researched the Church History and discovered many Church Fathers claiming the Gifts were going to CONTINUE until we finally see God face to face!

the Church Fathers tells us the Gifts will be here until that [which is PREFECT] which is when we see God face to face.
since that's not happened yet, Perfect has not come.

the debate is Tongues ends when that which is PERFECT has come.

i tend to use resources closest to the source like the Church Fathers who chose to write about this.

Irenaeus:
As therefore, when that which is perfect is come, we shall not see another Father, but Him who we now desire to see [12]

Tertullian:
refers to the visible manifestation of Jesus

Clement of Alexander:
to' teaelov is the believer's state when he see's God

Origen:
combines Verse 12 with 10 when we see Jesus [face to face]

Eusebius:
The apostle thought it necessary that the prophetic Gifts should continue in all the Church until the final Coming of Jesus

Archelaus:
"the perfect" is Jesus

Methodius:
the return of Christ and events associated with it

Ambrose:
when we are face to face with God

Jerome:
when we see the Glory of the Lord

Leo the Great:
when we see God as He really is

so as we see, these Church Fathers tells us that the PERFECT TO COME is when we see God [face to face].

none of us have seen God face to face so we can deduct that Speaking in Tongues is still active today.

The way to reason from scripture that the gift of tongues has been put away and fulfilled its purpose is by looking at its purpose and the foundation that was laid by the apostles.

Foundation established.. no need for the tools used to make it.

1 Co 13 isn't the primary passage to use for cessationism.. but what leads....
What the process is that gets the point of the completion of the canon.

This subject has been "discussed" more times than I can count, and no one has changed their mind.
Just leads to anger, name calling, discord.
Waste of time.

this is my 3rd Discussion on it. so i am not alarmed, offended, annoyed, baffled. i just am confused how someone can use Tertullian and call him the father of the Trinity but can rebuke him when he makes this claim concerning what is the [[PERFECT TO COME]] mean when the Gifts of Tongues, Knowledge, and Prophecies CEASE:

Tertullian:
refers to the visible manifestation of Jesus

either Tertullian is correct about BOTH Issues or he is Wrong. but there is no he is right about this and wrong about that. we know he was anointed of God, or we would not keep claiming the Trinity Viewpoint he brought forth.

Never heard of him.
I base my belief on the Scripture, not some man's opinion. Not saying I am always right as so many claim they are.

then may i ask this question. if you follow the idealism about the "Perfect to Come" is when the Bible was finished. how can it be finished when we don't have One Perfect Translation of it?

most are using the Translation from Greek to Latin to English when Latin has 3 possible words to every Greek word and English has 4 possible to every Latin and the same towards the Greek.

we don't even have the most authentic originals to judge by.

what's to learn?
i was Baptist and thought every day God cannot be this boring and lifeless and void. i tried Denominations like Wesleyan, Lutheran, Presbyterian and thought i would kill myself from the Spiritual Deathness. then Pentecostal. Grant it i am Independent now, and have Witnessed God like never before. but why would i want to be spiritually DEAD in those other Denominations?
