Help! My coworkers are out of control!

Okay so there was a recent scandal at my job, most people don't know about it so I won't go into detail but basically there is alot of sleeping around goin on. Some are married, some are supervisors its just outrageous. Actually I had heard rumors before but just ignored them because I didn't want to think they were true, but when one was discovered by the head hancho, many of the other ones that were true also came to light because everyone started telling on everybody else.

My problem is that now I feel like that place is so disgusting. The employees who didn't get fired but were also part of the scandal, I just can't look at them the same way I used to. I know it wasn't a direct attack on me or anything, I am sure before the affairs began they were not thinking "Ooooooo! How can we make Amber mad?" I just feel like I don't want to be so intertwined with immoral people. Does that make sense to anyone? Does anyone have any experience where they worked somewhere with people they just felt like they needed to be far away from because their immorality was infecting the work place.

And please pray for us. I mean truely truely pray. Really hard. Often.

I totally understand, Amber. This happens in law enforcement ALL THE TIME because men/women are constantly throwing themselves at officers for whatever reason and most find it difficult to resist. Officers even have a name for them (badge bunnies). Some fall, regret it and never do it again. Some thrive on it. It absolutely does change your respect for them, even if they are very good at their jobs.

The only thing I could ever figure out was to pray for them and be a living witness to them by example. It's amazing how the Holy Spirit can use that to convict and help change lives. I know it will be hard for you, but it may be an awesome witnessing opportunity against both gossip and the filth that's going on in your workplace. Will pray..

I knew you would have some awesomw words of wisdom about this. :)

And I want to look at it as a time to witness to folks too. I thik maybe because this just happened this week that it will take a little time to get over the initial shock. I am also mentaly preparing myself for ridicule and even getting fired for expressing my beliefs. The other employees who work closer to me (we are in the same hallway) they know about my beliefs because I talk to them often. But others not so much as I don't see them as much. I just hope and pray that at leastone person is responsive and learns something through this all.

Being disappointed in people you respected is a tough thing. But you're a tough lady and you'll be a strong witness. :) Hopefully, posting how you feel here among friends will be helpful.

First your roomate who keeps you awake at night, and now this??! Poor Amber :( I wish I had some advice for you in this situation, but I can't think of anything.

Where I work I am subjected to much of this stuff. When I first started working there I was angry and upset at Satan. It made me wonder how Lot could stay in Sodom or how Joseph could stay in Egypt, or how Daniel could stay in Babylon. Or how Jesus could stay in this WORLD!

We are to be in this world but not of it.

My friend, this is not the end of sexual immorality and sexual perversion that is coming to the world. You have read about it, and now it is being fulfilled. Much more wickedness is coming until it is revealed who has deceived the minds and hearts of this world.

We need to pray more and more and more that we don't get sucked in.

One of the most important things you can do right now is stand out, be unique, continue being a faithful christian... They maybe misbehaving and stuff but soon the will be hurt someway and suffer depression or stuff like that and they will come running to you for help and guidance. So continue to shine Gods light and He Himself shall keep you. God bless

What your saying does make sense, and i understand what you mean totally. Before i was a christian i used to work at this car place. There was so much filth going around there that even being a non christian i was totally disgusted at the things these people were doing.

However looking back now, i wish i would have been a christian and worked there, because now things like that dont bother me. Before i quit my last job to go to school it was the same way and i actually loved it, because i was so different from everyone else people would make remarks to me about it. Sometimes good, sometimes not so good.
I would go in the bathroom sometimes and find some of the women crying in there, I would be able to talk to them and most of them would let me pray for them right there in the bathroom.

So Amber, maybe instead of thinking of this job as just ''being intertwined'' with immoral people, you can think of it as a challenge. You are there in that exact job for a reason, maybe this is why you are there to reach out to some of the people. If affairs are going on then there are probably going to be a lot of broken up homes over this and broken people.

Just dont stick your nose up in the air and look down on everyone. One of those women at your work may really need someone to talk to, and it wont be to you if your on your all high and mighty im better than you pedestal

I wonder if all of this sleeping around has anything to do with some of the very popular tv shows out there where sexual attraction is glamorized like in The Bachelor or where the stars are sleeping around like Grays Anatomy or Desperate Housewives or Two and a Half Men. Hmmmm

Affairs happened before we had TV. Now we just have media to broadcast it. It also is now less passe to talk about it in public. It happened in the past, people just didn't talk about as much or they talked about it behind closed doors.

TV does make it sound pretty good if you don't pay attention to the added stress, broken relationships and damage people (especially children) who are affected by it, huh? They even point this out in such TV shows if people are paying attention. Unfortunately, most people ignore that part. :(

Forbidden fruit has a very high price tag. Like Nod said, the people involved end up very hurt, broken and ashamed. Perfect opportunity to tell them about the One who loves them anyway. :)

The divorce rate in the US is around 50% according to the official government stats taken by the Census Bureau. That means there is a couple getting divorced for every two couples getting married. It fluctuates from year to year but remains around 50%. I know that it wasn't that high decades ago, but I wasn't able to find any data on old divorce rates.

Yes, because they make the affairs appear very scintillating, playing on the forbidden pleasure aspect of it on tv. Plus, people like to think they can avoid getting caught.

I do agree with you Nod. I don't want to be that person who is thinking I am "too good" for their issues. I don't think others see me that way or they wouldn't have confided in me about the issues in the first place. There is a lady at my job that said to me once about another isssue we had 3 months ago "I am telling you this because I don't trust these other people here, but you are my sister." And I thought wow. Out of all the people that work here, she chose me to talk to. God must really be doing something in me that people feel they can trust me. I don't work very closely with this her either.

I have been praying for this organization for a while because I knew something just wasn't right and had a feeling something big was about to happen. We have had some financial issues recently as we are a non-profit, multi social services organization and people just are not giving the way they used to, we also had several teachers quit because they were just so unhappy with how the school was being run, in the past year we have had 2 teachers be accused of "hurting" a child. One was cleared the other is still under investigation. There has just been so much stuff going on but I never would have thought this would have been added on top.

You are very right, and dont forget embarrasssed, especially when there are family members and spouses that work together.
