For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’
“Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’
“And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’
“And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.”
Matthew 25:42-46....

remember this when a politician wants to cut Social Security, Medicare or Food Stamps. If you support them, you might join them.

Social Security, Medicare, and food stamps are all forms of socialism, which is government-mandated "charity". Although they mimic the care Christians are to show for our fellow believers and, to some degree, for all people, they are not inherently expressions of Christian faith because there is no personal choice whether to participate and little personal accountability for the recipients. If biblical principles were applied to government subsidy programs, there would be a lot fewer people receiving aid... and fewer people trying to get it.

And; also does so in such an inefficient way so as to completely waste the vast majority of the funds that is supposed to be directed toward charity. So the politicians buddies can really line their pockets and then pass some of that money back to the politicians who push the programs that dont work at all. Programs that have destroyed the urban communities.

The problem is politicians make cuts to EVERYONE. No mention of biblical principles here. They did not help anyone in need. This is why I have a cooler in my van with drinks to give out to those in need on hot days.

I agree there is a lot of corruption. In these verses Jesus is talking about individuals not helping. Too many politicians only want to help if there's something in it for them. They will answer to GOD for this.

If it was left up to the church to provide, even less would be given to the poor. Look at what the priest were doing with the tithes in the temple. Talk about corruption.

Not true. Read some history. Before modernism the communities through the church took care of the poor. And imagine that the church grew because of it.
Also do the numbers. The Church in America does more for the poor world wide than all the countries put together.

The temple is a non sequitur.

Government programs have never been the answer - "love your neighbor as yourself" has always been the biblical answer.

People - not governments, corporations, etc. - are supposed to take care of people - and, mostly, at the community level.

2 Kings 12:7 By the twenty-third year of the reign of Joash, however, the priests had not yet repaired the damage to the temple. So King Joash called Jehoiada and the other priests and said, “Why have you not repaired the damage to the temple? Now, therefore, take no more money from your constituency, but hand it over for the repair of the temple.” So the priests agreed that they would not receive money from the people and that they would not repair the temple themselves.…The King told the priest to repair the temple. Incredibly the priest did no repairs on the temple, but pocketed the money. You can see the same happening in some mega churches today.

Where do you see government in those verses?

remember this when a politician wants to cut Social Security, Medicare or Food Stamps. If you support them, you might join them.
The days of free and fair elections are over. So no matter how people vote, the system has been rigged to establish Communism. Now Communism claims that it is "the peoples" government but in fact it is the exact opposite. It is the Politburo's government, and there is now a Politburo in almost all Western countries.

Getting back to the various schemes that governments have for the survival of citizens, they are also rigged so that people become dependent on the government but actually get only a pittance for their dependence. The politicians make sure that they get the bulk of the country's wealth into their own pockets.

Getting back to the Scripture you quoted. The words of Christ are addressed to individuals, not governments. Individuals are to share their blessings with those who are less fortunate.
